Wordpower Day 4 & 5

Thanks so much to the FANTASTIC staff & students at Greely Road and St. Martha's school. You guys were so awesome & fun to work with!
The 2012 Wordpower tour was remarkable. I'm still digesting everything I experienced, but the experience has definitely left me a better person than I was...in the meantime, here are some photos...

Wordpower: Day 3

I'm really going to miss Fort McMurray and not just because of the amazing students and teachers (**shout out to everyone at Beacon Hill!) but there are some really yummy places to eat. I'll definitely be heading back to Mitchell's to grab more cookies. Their cranberry chicken salad sandwich was heaven!

But it's not just the culinary hot spots I'm learning about, other things I've learned while in Fort Mac:

I'm hanging out with some amazing authors here in Fort Mac, and thanks to the generous support of Suncor, we're visiting schools and meeting fantastic students & staff (shout out to Timberlea School! You guys were awesome!!).

Yesterday, I arrived and checked into the hotel, and finding the room a little chilly, requested a blanket...of course, it turned out I'd read the heater wron...

Time to Admit Defeat

Years ago, when I was dating an ex, he came into my bedroom and looking at the schedule I'd posted on the back of my door, frowned.  "You scheduled spontaneous time," he said, "From 2:00-4:00 on Saturdays."

His frown deepened, he said nothing else…and of course we broke up.

I realized, later, that what threw him was the planning of spontaneous time, which I suppose still seems odd, but to me, still makes sense.  Why can't I...
