PODCAST: Reading the Apostolic Fathers (part 1)

This episode consists of sections from my short-lived Patreon podcast where I shared my thoughts and insights on the apostolic fathers. Part 1 contains the letters of Ignatius. Stay tuned for part 2 which will include Polycarp, the Didache, and the Martyrdom of Perpetua! If you want to read along, all of the writings except the Martyrdom of Perpetua can be found in this book.

PODCAST: Stateless Prehistoric Societies and the Evolution of Human Cooperation w/ Dr. Charles Stanish

Dr. Charles Stanish was my guest to talk about his archaeological work and what it tells us about the evolution of human cooperation and complex societies–and particularly the surprising existence of complex stateless societies and what we might learn from them. Dr. Stanish is an archaeologist who has worked extensively in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile, conducting research on the prehistoric societies of the region. He is the author of The Evolution of Human Co-operation, among other books and articles.

PODCAST: What hath Geneva to do with Ancapistan? – Can Reformed Christians Be Libertarian? (w/ Gregory Baus)

Gregory Baus of the Reformed Libertarians Podcast was my guest to discuss how he grounds his libertarian views as a Reformed Christian. As an Anabaptist Christian, let’s just say I was a little skeptical at the start of our conversation; but tune in to hear him make his case! While he comes at it from a different direction, I think he makes a good argument.

Progressive Christianity (Protestant Libertarian Podcast)

I was recently a guest on the Protestant Libertarian Podcast. Click the image above to listen to the episode!

Show description:
“In this episode I talk with Cody Cook and Doug Stuart about progressive Christianity. We examine the rise of progressive Christianity and its current popularity, why many evangelicals are deconstructing and moving to the left, and the ideological similarities between progressive Christianity and Christian nationalism. We then explore why Christian libertarianism is a better alternative to both systems and how progressive Christians and Christian nationalists will develop politically over the coming years, especially as we get closer to the 2024 presidential election. This is a great introduction and response to the progressive Christian movement.”
