This is a new video series I’ve started for YouTube and TikTok. Any other questions I should add to the list?

Why Do Tyrants Fear Authentic Christianity?

@orthodoxtianarchist Why do tyrants fear the Christian faith? #solzhenitsyn #anarchochristian #christiananarchism #ntwright ♬ original sound – Orthodox Christian Anarchist

A reading from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s Gulag Archipelago and N. T. Wright’s Surprised By Hope which illustrate why tyrants fear authentic Christianity so much.

PODCAST: Women’s rights, unborn rights: anarchism and pro-life philosophy w/ Kerry Baldwin

John Dangelo (antiwarwarvet.com) was my co-host as we asked philosopher Kerry Baldwin about what it means to be pro-life as a Christian anarchist who seeks to affirm both the rights of pregnant women and unborn humans. Kerry Baldwin is an independent researcher and writer with a B.A. in Philosophy from Arizona State University. She’s also a Christian anarchist who’s been featured on John Stossel TV, the Bob Murphy Show, is a regular contributor at the Libertarian Christian Institute, and her website is MereLiberty.com. She’s in the process of formalizing her work into a theory proposal for peer review. Anyone interested in seeing this work come to fruition can support that through monthly membership at Mereliberty.com/membership

The Fourth Way – Christian Anarchism and Conservative Theology

I was recently a guest on The Fourth Way podcast! Here’s the episode description:

Cody Cook joins the show today to talk about a conservative view of anarchism. While many anarchists would be more theologically liberal, Cody talks about how we can arrive at anarchism while grounding that view in a conservative reading of the Bible.

0:00 – Preface

2:30 – Cody’s Introduction

4:30 – Does a face value reading of the Bible give you a violent, statist God?

12:45 – Can enemy love be grounded in the character of God if his standards for it have changed over time?

23:00 – Is the Antenicene Church helpful in forming our beliefs, and if so, how do we choose what to accept and dismiss from them?

30:45 – The Antenicene Church helps us embrace diversity, unity, and humility.

34:00 – How do we deal with the fact that many Christian Anarchists dismiss or diminish the resurrection of Jesus?

44:30 – How do we relate with other Christian groups who are more liberal, which many anarchist and nonviolent groups are?

53:15 – The diversity of the anarchist community

The Mad Ones – Women, Know Your Place with Nick Quient

I was recently a guest co-host on The Mad Ones podcast to talk about women in church leadership with egalitarian theologian Nick Quient. It was a fun conversation that the folks at The Mad Ones are nice enough to let me share here as well. Be sure to add them to your podcatcher and follow them on YouTube to get new episodes as they appear!

Here’s the official episode description:
This week, we are joined by a New Testament Theologist who is currently working on his PhD. He’s here to give his case for the ordination of women. What’s women’s place? According to Nick, right beside the men in the church. This isn’t a topic that I have settled on, so I want to hear both sides of the debate. So, join us, ask questions, and don’t you dare fight in the comments, nerds.

PODCAST: Book Review – America’s History: A Series of Tuttle Twins Stories (Volume 1)

After a previous video recommending homeschool resources, I got some questions about one resource–the Tuttle Twins book series–which some had heard was Republican propaganda. After getting their new American history book and spending some time in it with my nine year old, I wanted to assess both the philosophy and usefulness of it.

Other topics discussed: can we have ideology free teaching? Should we? How does political polarization skew our approach to teaching history? Should we teach history through the lens of 100% good guys and 100% bad guys?

Pro-choice Arguments Chart

Conversations about abortion regularly veer off course so I’ve created this chart which provides the central pro-life argument, the most common pro-choice objections to it, and why most of these objections fail to address what pro-lifers are actually arguing. For a pro-choice objection to be persuasive, it must properly address this central pro-life argument.

PODCAST: Against Intellectual Property w/ Stephan Kinsella

Stephan Kinsella was my guest to talk about “intellectual property,” the concept that an individual’s ideas belong to them and should be protected from free use by others through law. Stephan is a patent attorney and libertarian writer in Houston whose book  Against Intellectual Property is the seminal writing on this subject. We discussed why intellectual property is not really property, why it places an undue burden on society, and how it inhibits the free exchange of culture and ideas. He can be found at www.stephankinsella.com, at the Center for the Study of Innovative Freedom, and on Twitter @NSKinsella

Resources mentioned in the podcast:
Stephan Kinsella’s Against Intellectual Property – Amazon and Free from the Mises Institute
Stephan’s Soho forum debate Abolish Copyrights and Patents?
RiP: A Remix Manifesto – Amazon Video and Free on Youtube
Richard Stallman’s book Free Software, Free Society

Not discussed in the podcast, but relevant to this discussion, is my own essay Open Source Jesus: A Manifesto for a Liberated Church

PODCAST: How to have more productive conversations about abortion w/ Jessica Green

According to some estimates, 1/4 of women in the United States have had an abortion before the age of 45. If you’re pro-life and are arguing against abortion, there’s a good chance that the person you’re talking to has either had an abortion or encouraged someone else to and could feel attacked by your comments. This makes abortion a more difficult and emotional topic than most. That’s why I asked Jessica Green, who had an abortion in her teen years but came to be pro-life, to join me to discuss how to have more productive and sensitive conversations about abortion.

Jessica Green is the co-host of The Mad Ones podcast. Her Twitter handle is @soupcanarchist.
