Being Jesus.
As I write this I am sitting in the surgical waiting area of a local hospital. My husband is having a kidney stone removed. (I call it the demonic kidney stone that has ruined our lives, aka Steve.) That last little parentheses is me being dramatic. Obviously its not demonic and its hasn’t ruined our lives, its just felt that way. My husband and I both agree that birthing a third child would take less doctor and hospital visits than getting rid of, and I quote the ER doctor, this “rather

#CalmDown
"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 Okay, so you may have heard about this whole Starbucks red cups fiasco. Before you roll your eyes at yet another person talking about it, I'm not really going to talk about it. It just sparked the thought that has itched at my brain this week. To be honest, none of my Christian friends were offended by the cup. I wasn't offended

The Forgotten Holiday
"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!" Psalm 107:1 There's this little holiday between Halloween and Christmas. Maybe you've heard of it, it's called Thanksgiving. It's easily overlooked because store aisles and coffee cups skip over a lot of turkey day decor and jump right into lights, ornaments and all things Santa. They even start Christmas movies on cable networks as of November 1st. I don't mention any of that because I am opposed

The Reason For Hope
As many of you may know I recently spent nine days in Delhi. I went in with a lot of anxiety. I was worried about being so far away from my family, I was worried about the dangers that might be awaiting me in this new place. I spent the two weeks prior to the trip fervently praying about whether or not I should even embark on this little adventure (and kind of asking God to let me off the hook). Obedience doesn't always feel good after all. But even when it is difficult it is always worth it.

Good, Good Father
God is good. He has given me a new introduction to His goodness and love for me this week and I needed to share it with you. I am about to embark on a 9 day journey overseas. I’m going to a new place for a new experience and while it started out completely exciting I have slowly become unnerved by it. Fear has crept into my thoughts and heart and has sought to steal all my joy over this adventure I knew God had called me on. If I am completely honest I was on the verge of calling it[image error]

Things That Go Bump.
I am a chicken. Pretty much. I don't like roller coasters, or haunted houses or scary movies. (Yes, I did write a book about demons. I get the irony.) Its not that I don't appreciate a good thrill or that rush of adrenaline that makes us feel alive. But I don't like being scared. Edge of my seat suspense is one thing. Jumping out of my skin and needing a nightlight is totally different. One time I let myself get talked into watching a scary movie. It was the Ring. To be fair I wasn't really

The Power of No
I was sitting in church this past Sunday and before the service even started God dropped a couple things in my heart that I quickly jotted down in the notes on my phone. It turns out the things I jotted down went hand in hand with part of the sermon our pastor preached that very morning. That's enough confirmation for me to know I need to share. So wanna know what I put in my little notepad Sunday morning? Here it is... I think one of the best things we can teach our children (and

Its Golden.
Philippians 2:5-11 NLT You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God,[a] he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges[b]; he took the humble position of a slave[c] and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,[d] he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name
