#LiveBeautiful

Ever since I heard about Tabitha’s hashtag, #LiveChosen, I’ve been a huge fan of it. Why? Because it reminds me so much of my own, #loveyourself and #youarebeautiful. I know you’re wondering how that’s possible. It is strange, but to me, they interconnect. I even joked with Tabitha about a #livebeautiful hashtag to connect them.  Let me explain my hashtags for a moment. #youarebeautiful and #loveyourself came about because of my novel, Entertaining Angels. I wanted to show people that they were

7 Pieces of Advice for Our Daughters (And Maybe You Too)

When I was 15, God first planted a seed inside of my heart.  He then watered it with life experiences, gifts, and a calling that later sprouted and grew to be bigger than anything I could’ve ever imagined. You, daughter of the King, are no different. God has placed in you a seed of purpose and a unique set of gifts, abilities, and passions that He wants to use to advance His Kingdom. Whatever God has called you to do with your life, here are 7 pieces of advice to help you stay focused on Jesus

#LiveChosen- Build Your 'Get to Know God Better' Plan

If we want to know God better so that we can know that we know His voice and can trust His directions then we have to spend time with Him. We usually fail at developing a daily quiet time because we either don't make a plan or we make a plan that is too hard to maintain. I want to help you build a plan that sets you up for success.  What do I mean by success? I want you to design a "Get to Know God Better" plan that you can stick to consistently. So here are some tips and resources to help you

Yoga Booty Ballet Is Not My Friend

So, this is my year on purpose. One of the things I want to be more intentional about is my health and the health of my family. Don't worry I am by no means getting carried away with any of this. I like sugar and chocolate way too much to go off the deep end. But I do see the need to take my health more seriously. After all, I am not 22 anymore. And for those who might see a picture of me and mistake skinny for healthy let me burst your bubble by letting you know I can't make it up a flight of

Thoughts After The Birth

“It’s like having a baby.”    I had heard authors talk about writing and publishing like that for a while before I published. I didn’t really get how painfully honest that comparison was until I published The Chronicle of the Three: Bloodline.    Now, here I sit, four days after finishing the manuscript for its sequel and I do feel like I gave birth again, and this time the sensation is even clearer. It’s this mix of excitement and anxiety and hope and fear and nausea and exhaustion.   When

Intentional Christianity

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23   “You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and

Teresa "Shiny" Sunshine

Teresa "Shiny" Sunshine, that is the name my three year old gave to the small stuffed crab toy my husband brought her back from his recent trip to the east coast. It's just a little crab. It didn't cost a lot of money. But she loved it. Then she lost it.   Here's how it went down.    My daughter had played with Shiny the entire day, not letting it out of her sight since her father had given it to her earlier that morning. It crawled amongst lego buildings. It snuggled to watch YouTube videos. It

Dealing With Small Children: My Ten Year Plan

I have two young daughters, one is 6 and one is 3. They are beautiful and smart and sassy and kind and helpful. They can also be completely irritating. (Have you been there too or am I the only one?)      Don’t get me wrong, I love my daughters. LOVE them. I would die for them. I pray for them. I feed them. I buy the snacks they like. I do devotions with them. I snuggle them while they fall asleep. I dance with them in the kitchen. I am proud of them.   But some days, more like some moments, I

A Year On Purpose

I have never been one for New Year’s Resolutions. (And yes, I’m a couple weeks late for a New year’s post, don’t judge me.) Don’t get me wrong, I sit and think of what I want to do better in the new year. Its like I’m staring at the blank page of a new chapter and want to make sure its better than the last. Maybe I think this is the chapter where I will get healthier. Maybe it’s the chapter where I save more money. Maybe it will be the chapter where I get more organized. My mind always goes

THE MISSING VOICE: MEN AND THE PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT

The fact that I experienced an unplanned pregnancy in college is not necessarily a secret. I share my own personal experience in hopes that young women and men are empowered to make better decisions. My prayer, at least, has always been that my story will provide a beckon of hope that young adults can still accomplish their dreams, even when life changes.   THE OVERALL REASON MOST WOMEN ABORT IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO SUPPORT SYSTEM.   Financially they are struggling and cannot fathom how their
