MAKING SHIT UP

Today's guest is the author K. Z. Snow - another writer I met through her fiction, which I fangirled over and thereby got to know the gal behind the glamour! In this case, it was Looking for Some Touch, a fabulous urban fantasy with a whole cast of strong, sexy and sympathetic men, a delicious combination of the divine and down-to-earth. I like the way her writing has depth of setting and plot, a remarkably sensual and witty love of language and kick-ass characters. What I like even more i...

EXCEEDINGLY GOOD BOOKS...

Today's guest is best-selling, award-winning Josh Lanyon, who is very graciously joining me on almost his first day back into the (online) saddle this New Year! How cruel a taskmistress (but how grateful) am I, eh?!

He's sharing his Christmas reading with us, after a break that was certainly well deserved, following a flurry of publishing activity at the end of 2009: a great new fantasy adventure, e-novellas, sequels, anthologies, a charming Christmas-inspired e-book, and - OF COURSE, did yo...

FROM STEAMY SWAMP TO THE POWER OF PAN...

Today's guest is author Theda Black, whose work I discovered when I read After Anna and was blown away by the deep emotion - both angst and passion - she developed in the book. We started an email correspondence and I'm very happy to call her a friend as well as being a fan.

What I love about Theda's work is that she doesn't compromise by necessarily writing what's easy or expected: she writes what she feels, and wants to share. I love the way she can write both romance and horror - that's ma...

DUDE: DELIGHTFUL OR DATED?????

Welcome to Chrissy Munder, author, wit, blogger and damned good friend :). Chrissy will be blogging again later this month when I'll be pimping her great titles. But this week of Jan is just warming up, so let's have fun...

Thank God for Charlie Sheen.

Not in the hard drinking, allegedly almost strangling and threatening his wife with a switchblade and violence kind of way. But at least I knew who he was when the "breaking news" was reported, even if I didn't know who he is married to.

Do yo...

Avatar??? Was FABULOUS!!!
I didn't realise it was also going to be in 3D at our IMAX viewing. Go, sister, for organising the trip for us all!
The alien/human interaction was so well done, it was seamless. I mean the plot was fairly corny (Fern Gully, anyone?!) but it was a truly beautiful film, and I'd say, worth every penny.
It was long but it didn't drag for me - and I'm glad they put all the plot in, rather than trying to drag it out for a sequel or multi-ology or something.
Then a Chinese me...

I'M GOING WHERE THE SUN SHINES BRIGHTLY...

At least under the artificial dome!

We're going for a long weekend to the Centre Parcs in Sherwood. Family Clare plus another 4 friends. That's if the snow lets us set off - like earlier in the year, it seems to have hit London and the East even more than the frozen North. One of our friends is coming down from Scotland but the snow isn't as bad up there at all.

But at the moment, nothing's settled too badly and an early snowfall has stopped again. Thank God, because currently I can't find ...

I PROMISE TO DO MY DUTY....

Ok, so I'm not a Boy (or Girl) Scout and never have been, but the Sons have both been through the system and loved it. As far as I'm concerned it's one of the best organisations for a kid to have a riot of a time doing horribly politically-incorrect things involving fire, water and sharp objects - and at a very reasonable parental cost, compared to other clubs! LOL

Anyway, I've done my Christmas duty. Son#2 is doing his Duke of Edinburgh award in 2010, part of which is to spend several month...
