The last day . . .

of November. I know you didn't want to hear that, but there you have it. Somewhere in the year there must be a month that crawls by, don't you think? Maybe February? That must be it. That's why they only gave it 28 days, to help it along. But not November, that's for sure. It's a zipper.

I think having a conference backed right up to Thanksgiving helps make it a whirlwind. I had a great time at ALAN. It was my first time to Philadelphia, and I used that to my advantage to get my stomach s...

Novemberwhat?

On Sunday I met my daughter for lunch, and Karen being Karen, she told me I hadn't blogged in a long time. I knew it has been a little while but . . .

wow, where did the month go? We are more than halfway through November! Well, I have been a tad busy. Just in the month of November, there have been birthdays, baby showers (Hooray, another baby in the family!), unexpected dental appointments (oh, joy), a few foggy Benedryl days due to allergies, and the very sad passing of two dear friend's d...

Friday Five . . .

1.  Busy, busy busy, lately.  And more submerging is sure to follow.  Trying to make headway on WIP.  Trying to keep up on other writerly stuff.  Trying not to open the packages of Halloween candy--  Oh.  I guess that's another topic.

2.  I haven't opened any of the Halloween packages of candy yet (pat on back) because once I do, those teeny tiny little sweets just seem to disappear into thin air.  Halloween magic I guess.  Especially those Milk Duds and Good n Plenty.  What's up with that? ...

What are the chances . . .

I just got the coolest email.  It was from a girl who wanted to share a fun coincidence with me.  She had no idea what The Miles Between was about but began reading it on October 19th and finished reading it today, October 20th.

October 19th has significant meaning in the book and these are the two days on which the story takes place.  She said it must have been her "destiny" to read the book.  I think so.

She also wished Destiny and Caroline a happy birthday.    Me too. : )

All over the place . . .

whew, where did the last ten days go?  Well, let's see . . . I've been trying to get a lot of writing done.  For a whole month I think I hardly wrote a lick, busy with new book stuff, and lots of mail.  Oh yeah, throw in taxes too.  I had to get all of my personal and business tax info together for my tax man.  Thank goodness THAT is behind me (though my bank account is still squealing at the injustice.)

Last Friday I had a bit of fun though, hanging out with some awesome librarians, authors...

To thank . . .

Or not to thank.

That is the question.

I want to say right out of the gate I am really thankful for book bloggers. (And this is thankful Thursday, right?) Like most of the world, I don’t subscribe to all the print review journals. I am not a librarian or a teacher or bookseller and I am not buying books for libraries, classrooms, or stores. I buy them just for me or as gifts–a typical reader. And so blog reviews that spread the news about recent reads are very helpful for me. I have received a ...

Friday Four . . .

~ Banned Books Week begins tomorrow.  More info about Banned Books Week can be found at the ALA website.
Here is a post I wrote a few years ago about banned books that still reflects my feelings.

~ It always comes in threes.  I hope that is true.  Broken dishwasher.  Broken electrical circuit.  Broken car battery.  I should be all clear for a while.

Trying to finish article on setting.  Pray that breaker is fixed and electricity doesn't go out again.

~ Yesterday there was a review for The Mi...

Inspiration and more . . .

I've been away for a few days, visiting the lovely area of the Santa Ynez Valley (remember Sideways?) and of course visiting some wineries.  We got some great Pinots. But now I am wildly trying to catch up on mail. Amazing how fast it can get away from you. And of course, my poor Hunter got a little ear infection while we were away, so before I even unpacked this morning I was off to the vet. All is well now. Er, except for the unpacking, although I did forget some clothes in a drawer at the ...
