Friday Few

1. Meet Duke.  Our new bulldog.  We are now a three dog family.  Here is Brody getting acquainted with the newest member.  He was quite leery at first.

But soon Brody discovered that Duke was very predictable and wouldn't encroach on his food or bones.  The only thing intimidating about him was his ceaseless stare:

Maybe it has to do with his age.   My husband and I gave Duke to my father-in-law about 25 years ago for his birthday.  My father-in-law loved Duke and posted him by the front door i...

Mockingjay!

Tomorrow is the big day!

AT LAST, we get to read the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy! I was lucky enough to read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire in ARCS but that also meant after reading CF I had to wait even longer to find out what happens! Argh!  There were no ARCS for Mockingjay! So it has been almost a year and a half since I read the last book.  That's a long time to wait.  I want to know!!

~ What are the secrets of the Districts?  I can't help but wonder if the fact that there...

Paperback cover

My editor sent me the paperback cover for The Miles Between.  I love it.  I think it really evokes the spirit of the book.

And I especially love the car reflection in the sunglasses!  And amazingly, the model looks much like I imagined Destiny to look.  The paperback will be "officially" out on January 4th, but I think it might be released a bit earlier in December.  Wow, that is soon. Hooray!

Friday Five . . .

1.  The gal who has cut my hair for ten years is out on baby leave.  Today I get my hair cut by someone new.  Keep your fingers crossed.

2.  It is hot.  Summer has finally arrived.  This is good.  I hope we get summer credit well into November.

3.  We are dog-sitting our daughters dog.
Brody: "Yeah, she's cute, but that's my spot she's laying in."
        Penny: "Is not."
        Brody: "Is too."
        Penny:  "Is not."
And so it goes.

4.  See number one.  She is coloring it too. Fingers...

Classical Gas

Yesterday, my editor for the paperback of The Miles Between asked me if I had a list of road trip songs they could include in the backmatter of the book that will come out in January.  I already had a loose list, but I revised it to include a few more songs and browsed itunes for other "road trip" songs.  One that I decided to include, which is technically not a road trip song at all, is  Classical Gas by Mason Williams.

I think the above photo is from his first album and  here he is performi...

Friday Few . . .

I got my revised manuscript off to my editor on Tuesday (yay!!!) so I have spent the last few days doing a little catch up.  So what did I do on my first day off?

1.  Why shopping of course!  Really, I'm going to my husbands class reunion at the end of the month and I need a dress.  All I want is something simple.  A little black dress.  One that makes me ten pound thinner.  Hides all the bumps and bulges.  Is absolutely gorgeous and sexy, but classy too.  And doesn't break the bank.  Is that...

August 5, 2010

Leave 'em in the car, honey.

I went on a very  impromptu vacation a couple of weeks ago.  My hubby managed to get a few nights lodging in Yosemite at the very last minute, which seems to be the only way to get into Yosemite anymore, so we hit the road thinking we would figure out en route where to stay on the way there and on the way back.  California is a long state.  When I get out there and drive for miles, and miles, and miles, I'm reminded what a tiny little dot my town is in the whole state much less the whole coun...

Friday 500 . . .

Wait!  Come back!

I don't really have 500.

1. Well, I probably do.  I have been submerged for so long, that I haven't posted much for months now.   I had to meet a deadline to keep my next book on target for publication, and darn, if it didn't end up being quite a bit longer than my other books--the pages just kept coming and coming and . . .   Well, as mentioned in an earlier post I finally finished the draft.  I am still revising and trying to cut it back but even now it keeps going in the ...

the two best words a writer can write:

Now back to the land of the living.
