In the homestretch . . .

Is that light I see?  At the end of the tunnel?  I hope so.

I don't think I've ever gone this long without blogging, but for a few more days I must maintain my tunnel vision.  Nearly there . . .

Caught by surprise . . .

I knew it was coming but I didn't know that TODAY was the day!  It's publication day for the audio book of Scribbler of Dreams!

Scribbler of what, you say? I know. This book came out nine years ago and I didn't expect an audio would ever be made, but the very brilliant Brilliance Audio bought rights to it when they bought the rights to The Miles Between.

I was thrilled to see a new version of this book.  Of ALL my books, I still get more letters about this one than any other, and I still get ...

Snow 'n Stuff

While most of the country was saying NO MORE SNOW, I was hoping for LOTS last week--and I got it--in spades!
Hubby and I headed up from San Diego to Mammoth Lakes for a week getaway.  For me it was a little writing retreat and for both of us, some time to slap on the skis and let our thighs scream (oh boy, did they.)

These are the Sierras just outside of Bishop. And in case you didn't know, Bishop is home to Schatz Bakery who makes the most wonderful, sinful pecan pull-a-parts you can imagine. ...

Book News

In spite of all the recent turmoil in the book world and in my last two posts, all is not a big bubbling volatile stew.  I figured this was a good time to post some of the good news.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I will be posting an occasional blog about book news, and since it is occasional and all lumped together some of it will be older than other news, but this way you aren't bombarded every day with stuff you might prefer to skip over.  Ha!  I make it easy for you--you can skip...

Amazon yanks Macmillan books

As many of you already know by now, after a dispute over e-book pricing with Macmillan, Amazon retaliated by not only removing Macmillan ebooks, but ALL Macmillan books.  And that is why my books--hardcover and paperback--are no longer available at Amazon as of sometime Friday evening.

You can learn more about what transpired in this article from Wall Street Journal.

And here is a blog, Charlie's Diary , with some good insights, and yet another one with a slightly different take  from Tobias...

STEALING BOOKS . . .

There has been a lot of talk this week in the blogosphere about book piracy.  It is a subject that has been burning in my mind too, and not in a good way.

Many of my thoughts have been echoed here,  Book Pirates Suck   by Laurie Halse Anderson, and again here in her follow-up, More Thoughts on Why Book Pirates Suck .

And also here by Sara Zarr (scroll down) who has  more thoughts on why book piracy is wrong.

They have covered a lot of points on why downloading pirated books is wrong and just plai...

It is still January . . .

. . . so I guess it's not too late to wish you a Happy New Year! In fact, while I'm at it, I think I'll wish you Happy Valentine's Day too. For once I will be ahead of the game.   New Years day came and went with me still hacking away from the flu--I still am actually--but I have been feeling well enough to write.

I'm just taking a little break from the keyboard because I just printed out the wip (proof below)  so I could actually "see" the manuscript.  I am about 2/3 of the way through (?) ...

Looking on the bright side . . .

I may have come down with the Big Ugly Flu three days before Christmas, but at least I fared better than Santa:

Grab Bag: From Scales to Smiles

I have been laying low in the blog world lately, but trying to drop in when I can to hear what is going on with friends--and strangers. If any of you have had any news, feel free to shout it out here again in the comments. I know I have missed a lot.

It's a cold windy day here in California which is kind of nice. We had Santa Ana winds just a few days ago and this feels more like Christmas. Nearly all the leaves have been blown from our liquid ambers and our backyard has a golden carpet of l...
