Billionaire Sutton Mayfair has nothing left to lose…
My best friend is getting married to the woman I love. They say the nice guy finishes last. So what’s the point of being a goddamn gentleman?
Maybe I should take what I want.
Even that sexy little thing on the street corner.
She needs a hot meal and a place to sleep. Instead I’m taking her home to soothe the savage best inside me. I was born a bastard, and for the first time in my life I act like one.
Except the more I use her, the more I need her.Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo—
I didn’t know I had someone left to lose.
For a single heartbeat, I had her.
EXCERPT:He turns, sudden and sharp, as if he heard me. I didn’t make a sound. It’s only my heartbeat that could have given me away, rapid as a rabbit.
Blue eyes narrow. “Ashleigh.”
It would be better if he didn’t remember my name. Better if he could have looked at my legs and my breasts the way the man in the car had done. It would be better to believe that every man would treat me like trash. Knowing that some men are good and kind and caring—but not for me, never for me—hurts worse than anything. “I’m not for sale.” The words slip out before I can stop them. He didn’t even ask my price.
He raises one eyebrow. “Then you’d be the only one.”
Jaded. Maybe I’m not the only one determined to think the worst of the world. “Is that how you think of women? They aren’t all out to get your money.”
For a moment I think he’s going to stride away. He’ll disappear into the night. Hours from now I’ll be wondering if he were real. The possibility hangs in the night like dew. It’s what he wants to do. What he should do. Everything about him, from his clothes to his manner, speaks of a man with manners. With a real job and a real house and a real girlfriend. He shouldn’t be talking to me.
Then he turns toward me, decisive. In a moment he’s in front of me. Another second, and I’m backed up against the stone bricks of the Den. “It’s not how I think of women, darling. It’s how I think of everyone. Men included.”
“Do you have a price?” I manage to ask, even though it’s risky to talk back to a man. Especially when his large frame has me tacked to the wall like a freaking butterfly. This close I can see the shadow of hair on his jaw, the mole beside his right eye.
“Yes. Me.” A harsh laugh. “I’ve got a price. It’s not even a high one.”
“What is it?” It’s like a street urchin wandering into Tiffany’s, this question. It doesn’t matter what the answer is. The number will always be too high. Whether he wants a society wife or a mother for his children, it will never be me.
“A kiss.”
The word lodges in my skin, sharp and hot. “A kiss?”
There’s challenge in those blue eyes. And pitiless knowledge. “A kiss is all it takes for me to fall head over heels. I’d believe I was in love with you, build a fucking castle in the sky, because I’m just like him, aren’t I?”
A whisper. “Two hundred dollars.”
His gaze drops to my lips. “I thought you weren’t for sale.”
I changed my mind when he talked about castles in the sky. He’s in love with someone else. That much is clear from the bitterness in his voice. I can’t be that woman, but I can pretend for a single night. Somewhere warm. His arms.
“Two hundred dollars and your name.”
That earns me a clap of laughter. “My name.”
“And dinner.” I don’t know where I get the courage. Two hundred dollars is enough to pay my rent for next month. Dinner means I don’t need to eat for another two days.
His name should mean nothing to me.
He bows his head, hiding his eyes. A droplet of rain falls from his hair to my chest. “Christ. What the hell happened to you? No, don’t tell me.”

#Review: THE DUKE'S WICKED WIFE by Elizabeth Bright

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially Wessex's jesting and bantering with everyone, but especially with Eliza. He is much deeper than anyone realizes although Eliza is beginning to see through his fun facade and forces him to confront that pesky thing called feelings as she begins to confront her own feelings about him. Ms. Bright does a great job of teases out the details of what Wessex and Eliza really want out of life and I was eagerly turning the pages to see how it all ends. Definitely a fun and enjoyable read.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy and all opinions are my own.

Excerpt:
Laughter followed Velvet as she left the stage in the grotto where she had been hired to perform a private show for the wealthy creatures’s birthday party.
She knew the crowd were eyeing her bare torso, hoping the current would sway her long silver and lilac-tinted hair off of her breasts so they could see if the color of her nipples matched the color of her lilac fin.
She sighed. Maybe it was time to change. Raven black hair with a bright, shiny aqua blue tail made her audiences stare, but she did get more jobs that way. She wanted more shows at the big clubs.
“Velvet.” Cassidy, her manager, called out to her from where she waited in the luxurious apartment the management called a dressing room.
Cassidy was a mermaid, too. She was much older than Velvet, who was only one hundred years old. Cassidy was more than three hundred years old. No one would know that if it weren’t for the Hall of Records there in The Dreaming because everything stayed the way you wanted it to.

#Review: ALL YOU NEED IS A DUKE by Biana Blythe

Jasper Tierney, the Duke of Jevington, was nearly trapped into marriage when Mrs. Carberry tied her daughter to his bed. Luckily for him, he found her in time and Margaret slipped out the balcony door to save the duke from having to marry her. To show his gratitude, Jasper hosts a country house party to find Margaret a husband. Margaret never fit in especially with her Scottish accent and science interests and although she's appreciative of Jasper's help, she's not sure she'll ever find a husband who will accept her as she is.
I loved Margaret. She was so sweet and kind and never said a bad word against anyone. The problem is the more time she spent with Jasper, the more she fell in love with him. That would never do. A duke would never fall for her. I liked how Ms. Blythe's teased out how Jasper's feelings grew for Margaret. It was enjoyable to see there was no "insta-love" here, but feelings progressed slowly. I did mark 1 star off for inconsistencies in the time line at Gretna Green though. Also, Margaret's friend, Miss Juliet, was not necessary to the story as she barely made an appearance in the book. I will definitely check out more books by Ms. Blythe.

She’d thought her heart had pitter-pattered when she’d seen him before, but now it careened. <br /><br /> Perhaps he was teasing her. <br /><br /> And yet his eyes seemed kind, and she doubted he had any acquaintances hiding behind the chaise whom he wanted to make laugh. <br /><br /> Suddenly the room seemed devoid of air, despite the generous sizes of the windows and ample square footage, and she swallowed hard. <br /><br /> The man was so close. <br /><br /> Close enough to sweep her in his arms. <br /><br /> Close enough for their lips to meet. <br /><br /> Close enough…<br /><br /> She stepped away hastily, bumping into a sideboard. The wooden edge poked her leg, and an oriental vase wobbled precariously, sending flower petals tumbling down. <br /><br /> He grasped her elbow with one hand, and energy thrummed through her body. <br /><br /> “I-I don’t understand,” she stammered finally, not wanting to glance at her grandmother, lest even her expression be filled with mirth. <br /><br /> Normally, Margaret understood things. <br /><br /> It was one of her good qualities. <br /><br /> One of her few good qualities. <br /><br /> “Well, I thought your mother would prefer a duke. EXCERPT:“Commander,” Seen acknowledged as he entered.
There was plentiful food on the table, and his host was already seated, with a pretty little woman on his knee whom he didn’t bother to introduce.
She blushed furiously at him, though, because she was totally naked, trying to hide her face against him, but he wouldn’t allow it.
“Do I need to spank you in front of the doctor, little girl?” he asked—quite deliberately, he thought—which made her blush that much brighter.
“No, please, Sir,” she whispered.
“Show him your bottom.”
“Please, Sir!” Ollyah begged.
But he simply gave her that look she already hated that meant she could either obey him or she would be getting a spanking in front of him.
She hopped down off his thigh with severe reluctance and turned around.
“No, not there. Go stand next to him and bend over.”
Tears began to trail down her cheeks, but she did as she was told.
The backside that she revealed to him had been well and thoroughly tended to, from the first curves of her behind to just above the backs of her knees. He could see that the mottled bruises and angry red weals were from more than one punishment; they were in layers.
It looked like a very sore bottom indeed, and he could hear her sniffling and softly sobbing, but she remained in position.
Author Bio:
Carolyn was one of you as a kid, with the intriguing seeds planted in her head of the shivering thrill-thoughts that came with words like spanking, or discipline. As with you, those kinds of words and thoughts connected the heated blush of her cheeks with feelings elsewhere, which got more and more interesting the older she got.
I bet you know just what I'm talking about.
Like some, she started writing down these thoughts, escaping into short stories of reluctant heroes willing to take someone they love in hand when it's for her own good... and more shadowy thoughts as her imagination matured.
And like some, she started sharing her writings in newsgroups once she gained some confidence.
There's nothing like the perfectly-turned phrase, the handful of words that can make a feeling wash over you. And if you're reading this, then you have within you some intense feelings that most of the world doesn't understand -- but Carolyn does, and she writes those passions with wondrous abandon. Her specialties are Spanking Romance and Adult Ageplay, so we've grouped the many examples of her work that way.
Spanking Romance Classics are sweeping love stories which dare (in a very un-PC way) to allow their heroine to feel the special love of a strong man who will take her in hand when it's best for her. Carolyn writes very real, rich characters and stories that aren't just excuses to jump from spanking scene to spanking scene. If the timeless tango of pursuing ardor touches you, and the head-rush of Adoring Discipline intrigues you, then you'll love Carolyn's stories!

#Excerpt: MURDER AT EAGLE'S NEST by Pat Duggan

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Pat Duggan will be awarding a $10 Amazon GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.
Murder at Eagle's Nest is a gentle mystery novel set in a peaceful vacation resort in Apalachicola on Florida's Forgotten Coast. The area is still reeling after Hurricane Michael made landfall only thirty-five miles to the west, on Mexico Beach.
The story uncovers fraud, driven by greed and arrogance. However, everything changes when a body is discovered. The police detective brought in from Tallahassee, quickly enlists the help of two women staying at the resort, who have unusual insight. They ultimately uncover critical evidence, which unmasks the perpetrator.
Excerpt:
Hazel remembered seeing the Comfort Suites Inn as they drove through the outskirts of Panama City. The Airforce Base was located on the main highway and although it had clearly suffered damage during the hurricane, it appeared to be operational. They pulled into the hotel parking lot and made their way to the front desk.
They decided to continue with the story of trying to find a lost friend and approached the front desk manager. Hazel began, “Good Morning. We are sorry to trouble you, but we are hoping you can help us. We are looking for a friend of ours who seems to have gone missing. His name is Randy Jacket and this is his picture.” Hazel held up the photo, then continued, “A young man out at Dugger Field seemed to think he may have stayed here for a couple of nights last week. Do you remember him?”
The manager looked at the photograph and answered, “You say he is missing? Because we don’t normally give out information about our guests.”
Hazel said, “That’s right. And it sounds like he did stay here. Is there anything you can tell us about his visit? We are just trying to gather information.”
The manager, realizing he had been caught by his own words, said, “Well, yes, he was here. Interesting gentleman. He was telling us that his company is going to rebuild Mexico Beach. They are going to build a super new, high class condominium complex, it is going to be the flagship property for his company, he said. He was clearly excited by the whole thing. They have bought all the land and he was going to check it out on the Thursday. Must have been a big property to inspect, because he left after breakfast and didn’t get back until about three o’clock in the morning. I just happened to be working the nightshift and saw him come in. He looked exhausted. I don’t think he even saw me as he walked past the desk. He looked a mess too. His clothes were all dirty. But I guess if you have spent your day on a building site, it is to be expected. “
About the Author:

However, as a longtime lover of murder mysteries, with a passion to follow plots and figure out the perpetrator, it was time for a new direction. I decided to ‘try my hand’ at weaving my own story, and true to my character, I had to tie up all the loose ends. Murder at Eagles Nest is my first mystery novel, and I am already working on the next mystery for my amateur detectives, Hazel and Anna, to solve.

#Excerpt: THE MOCKING MAN by Leslie Georgeson

The Mocking Man
Leslie Georgeson
(The Pact Duet #1)
Publication date: February 3rd 2020
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense
Deception.
Not a word I would have associated with myself fifteen years ago. Back then I was innocent and carefree, a teenage boy with big dreams.
Then my best friend Rafe was kidnapped, and my world fell apart. I foolishly thought I could save him.
I was wrong.
Now my entire life is a web of deceit. My every breath tainted by lies. I don’t like what I’ve become. But it’s essential for my very survival.
My job now is to stay in the shadows and keep Rafe’s sister Isabella safe. She can’t even know I’m here. Then danger lurks closer. Somehow, I must protect her while keeping my secret. But I get so caught up in my own twisted game that I eventually make a terrible mistake.
Now she’s a part of the pact. And I can’t let her go
But what kind of life can I give her if I can never be anything more than the mocking man?
—-Goodreads / Amazon—
***This series is a romantic suspense duet. Book 1 is Alex’s story, and Book 2 is Rafe’s story. Each is a separate romance with an HEA (and no cliffhangers). However, events from book 1 lead to events in book 2. Therefore, it is recommended that they be read in order to get the full story. These books contain strong language, adult situations, and dark subject matters. Recommended for readers ages 18 and up.***
EXCERPT:“Do you honestly think Alex is alive?”
Sophia shook her head sadly. “After all this time, honestly, I think he’s dead. But I can’t tell Vivian that. I can’t let her lose hope.”
Vivian returned about five minutes later, clutching a thin brown book against her chest. She paused in front of me and looked me in the eye.
“I am going to trust you to bring this back as soon as you’re done reading it. Please don’t show it to anyone. It’s Alex’s private world. He would feel betrayed if anyone else read it. I didn’t even like handing it over to the police, but I had to just in case they found something that might help find him. They didn’t find anything. There’s nothing in there.” Her voice cracked.
“I won’t show anyone else,” I stated emphatically. “And I’ll bring it back as soon as I finish reading it. I promise.”
Would I be able to find a clue to what had happened to Alex? To his current whereabouts if he was still alive? Could I uncover what the police hadn’t been able to fifteen years ago?
The sleuth in me pushed forth, eager to solve the mystery of Alex’s disappearance.
Vivian’s eyes welled with tears and she blinked rapidly. Then slowly, hesitantly, she held the journal out to me.
I took it from her, cradling it against my chest.
And now I was on a quest to find out what had happened to Rafe’s best friend Alex.

#Review: THE COUNTERFEIT COURTESAN by Jess Michaels

This was my favorite of the Shelley sister books. Juliana was the "fixer" of the family, always tidying up the messes caused by her sisters and smoothing things over with their tyrant of a father, but when both of her sister's found true love, Juliana was lost. She was scarred and missing the close connection with her sisters. She was a strong and resilient character who proved that she was much more than her father's "secretary." I loved Ellis--the bad boy trying to walk the straight and narrow, but his past kept coming back to haunt him. Ms. Michaels does a great job of teasing out Ellis's true character as he tries to keep Juliana and the rest of her family safe from Leonard while the author's ending for Ellis fit the life he led. I'm sorry to see the series end. I loved reading about all 3 sisters.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy and all opinions are my own.

Interview with T.H. Hernandez, RESISTANCE

Nothing goes according to plan and they discover they have a traitor among them. Before they can put any plans into action, they have to root out whoever is working against them from the inside before that individual can warn the enemy of their plans. There’s lots of action and drama as well as some super sweet romantic moments.
Have you ever had a minor character evolve into a major one? Did that change the direction of the novel at all?Yes, as a matter of fact. In this series, there was a secondary character who played a pivotal role but was no longer needed at the end of book 1, so off she went. She has always been one of my favorite characters, though. She was deeply wounded emotionally, and I couldn’t just let her suffer off page. So I brought her back in the fourth book. In book 5, she continues her development as she deals with a pain so profound, I often wonder if she’ll ever heal. Now she’s a key character in the series and will have her own arc that will wrap up by the end of the series in book 7.
Are you currently under a traditional publishing contract for future books or do you have manuscripts that you will self-publish? Are you doing both?I’m a hybrid author. I have traditionally published books with Soul Mate Publishing and Entangled Teen, as well as self-published books. The Union series I published myself. SUPERHERO HIGH is published by Soul Mate and PROM-WRECKED through Entangled Teen. I am working on another book with my co-author for Entangled, but it’s not under contract yet. I have two more books in The Union series and at least two more books in the superhero series, Heroes & Zeros. Beyond that, I have some stand-alone projects in various states of planning, and I will probably submit those for publication, though I never say never when it comes to self publishing.
What is your writing process? Do you listen to music or do you like silence?I cannot function in silence. Like at all. I grew up in a family of seven, so silence usually meant something was wrong. Whenever things get too quiet, I get anxious, even when I know for a fact nothing is wrong. As a result, I have a music playlist for writing. Most of my books have their own playlist, depending on the mood I need to set for myself for a particular scene. And I play that music LOUD!
Do you outline your story or just go where your muse takes you?A little of both, I guess. I have a very rigorous planning process that includes character sketches, a detailed list of scenes, etc. But once I start writing, if I get an idea that wasn’t part of my original plot, I run with it. I can’t start writing if I don’t know what I’m writing about, if I don’t understand what motivates my character. But I don’t like to be too confined by the planning phase, so I do give myself a wide berth to listen to my muse when she sings to me.
Did you hire an editor to review your manuscript before publishing?Absolutely!! I’m an editor by day, so I understand how important editing is for the final product. The two things I think you absolutely cannot skimp on are editing and cover design. And the one thing you can NOT do yourself, no matter how talented you are, is edit you own writing. My editor works for our local newspaper, so she’s one of the best when it comes to finding my mistakes.
Besides Amazon, are there any other sites where your books are for sale? Most of the online retailers carry my self-published books, including Barnes & Noble, iBooks, Kobo and more. Entangled Teen distributes widely as well, but Soul Mate takes advantage of Kindle Unlimited, so SUPERHERO HIGH is only available on Amazon. But if you have KU, you can read it as part of your subscription.
Do you find it difficult to juggle your time between marketing your current book and writing your next book?Find me an author who doesn’t. Just kidding, but also totally serious. I learned how to write, not market or advertise. I have no background in marketing and no basic understanding what works and what doesn’t. So I’ve had to take a crash course in this area. And still, I’m not very good at it because a) I don’t really enjoy it and b) I really don’t know what I’m doing. Every minute I spend promoting myself I’m not writing, even though I know, KNOW on a fundamental level, that no one will read my books if they don’t know that they, or even I, exist. So while a lot of writers mess around to avoid writing, I tend to write to avoid marketing. I’m toying with hiring someone to help in this area, but I’m busy procrastinating on that, too.
Besides writing, do you have any other passions? So many. First and foremost is my family. I adore spending time with them. As my kids get bigger, and begin to tower over me, I know our days of taking Sunday hikes together and morning Star Wars matinees in the comfy reclining chairs are nearing an end. So I grab whatever time I can with them. When they’re off hanging with friends or at rehearsals for school musicals, marching band, or following their own passions, I read a lot, scrapbook our moments, and knit. I can knit while watching TV or reading, so I tend to make lots of really wonderful things with soft yarns, that not only feeds my need to create something physical, unlike writing, but my tactile need to touch things and fidget.
Some fun facts about you, which do you prefer – dogs or cats? Chocolate or vanilla? Coffee or Tea? Talk or Text? Day or Night?I cannot choose between dogs and cats. We have both and it’s a joy to watch them play together and then snuggle when they get tired. Cats like to cuddle, and dogs like to play. They serve two needs and I could never just have one or the other.
Definitely chocolate.
Coffee all the way.
Text. As in, only call me if it’s an emergency or someone is dying. And even then, text first.
Both. I love sunshine and being outside. I love to write at the table on my back deck. But I love night, too, when family is home and we’re all together. And after everyone goes to bed, that’s when I do most of my writing.<!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:Arial; panose-1:2 11 6 4 2 2 2 2 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:3 0 0 0 1 0;} @font-face {font-family:"ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3"; mso-font-alt:"ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3"; mso-font-charset:78; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:1 0 16778247 0 131072 0;} @font-face {font-family:"Lucida Grande"; panose-1:2 11 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:3 0 0 0 1 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-update:auto; mso-style-parent:""; margin-top:0in; margin-right:0in; margin-bottom:0in; margin-left:.25in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ascii-font-family:"Lucida Grande"; mso-fareast-font-family:"ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3"; mso-hansi-font-family:"Lucida Grande"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; color:black;} p.HeaderFooter, li.HeaderFooter, div.HeaderFooter {mso-style-name:"Header & Footer"; mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; tab-stops:right 6.5in; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ascii-font-family:Helvetica; mso-fareast-font-family:"ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3"; mso-hansi-font-family:Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; color:black;}size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.6in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;}mso-level-tab-stop:none; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} ol {margin-bottom:0in;} ul {margin-bottom:0in;}</style><br /><br /><div style="margin: 0 auto 15px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://xpressobooktours.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="" src="https://xpressobooktours.com/wp-conte..." style="height: auto; max-width: 100%;" /></a></div><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> </span></span><br /><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><b>The Resistance</b><br /><b>T.H.
