#Excerpt: PRIESTESS STORMS & STONE by Annie Anderson

Priestess of Storms & Stone
Annie Anderson
(Rogue Ethereal #5)
Publication date: March 31st 2020
Genres: Adult, Urban Fantasy
If there is one lesson I’ve been taught in my life, it’s that fairies are the absolute worst.

Finding a fledgling succubus in Faerie is like locating a needle inside a realm-sized haystack. With a guide I can’t trust and a goal more ephemeral than smoke, my odds of success are tenuous at best.
Not to mention, as the last Elemental in existence, I have a giant target painted on my back.
Because one half of Faerie wants me dead, and the other half wants to use me as a sacrifice to open the gates to Earth. But I swore I would find my quarry, and I will. Even if I have to rip the entire realm apart to do it.
There is a storm coming to Faerie, and that storm is me.
Goodreads / Amazon
EXCERPT:It was never a good sign to be drinking bourbon at ten in the morning, but after the week I’d had, I figured I was due. Self-medicating with alcohol wouldn’t take the sting out of my grief, in fact, it was likely to make it worse. But I’d needed a teensy little breather from my housemates after the last truth bomb had been dropped, and wrapping my head around my new knowledge required booze.
I could feel Della’s eyes on me, her acute vampire gaze boring a hole in the side of my face. She wanted an answer to her question, and she likely wasn’t going to leave me alone until I gave her one.
When are we leaving?
That question echoed against the walls of my brain with enough force to give me a headache. Melody was alive. She was alive, and my sister was dead.
But that didn’t make a lick of sense. Melody died right in front of me. I watched Aurelia send her soul on in a way only a phoenix could do. I watched her body burn in the flames of a funeral pyre. I needed answers before I could answer Della’s question.
Because I wouldn’t be leaving to hunt her down unless I was sure this wasn’t some kind of trick. I’d been tricked too many times in the last week, and I wasn’t falling for another one.
“Melody is dead, Della,” I whispered before taking another sip of bourbon, refusing to face my bodyguard. If I looked at her, I’d see either pity or censure, and I couldn’t deal with either.
“Then why is her son gone?” Della pointed out a big hole in the “Melody’s dead” argument.
Shit, fuck, and damn. I made a promise to Melody to keep her son safe. If it wasn’t Melody who had her son—and I highly doubted it was—then I’d have to go get him.
In Faerie.
Aces.
But hadn’t I earned a break? Hadn’t I earned the right to let someone else take up the slack?
You made a promise. You swore. You can’t turn away just because you’re hurt.
Those words cut through my thoughts sharp enough to bring tears to my eyes. I did. I made a promise to make sure her son was safe. And I’d keep it. Maybe it would make my soul burn just a little less. Maybe if I did this one thing, losing Maria wouldn’t hurt so bad.
Yeah, I doubted it.
I sniffed back the sting of tears, tossed back the rest of the bourbon, and managed to set the glass down without smashing it. I’d been on a smashing kick for the last little bit, and my living room had borne the brunt of it. At the time, I’d wanted to destroy everything Maria had ever touched. If I could just break it, burn it, wreck it, then it would have been like she wasn’t stamped all over every molecule of my house.
Wasn’t that stupid?
Like I wouldn’t see her every time I closed my eyes.
“Okay, I’ll give you that,” I muttered, finally answering Della’s question. “But I can’t just bust down the door to Faerie and find her. If it is her. We need way more to go on than a note and a can-do attitude.”
I peered down at myself. I had on black shorts and a black tank top. It was good enough for summer in Denver. All I needed was some flip-flops. Had I brushed my teeth today? Shrug. Was I wearing a bra? My tank had a shelf bra in it. It would just have to do. Plus, Barrett wouldn’t give two shits about what I was wearing. I located my flip-flops in their spot by the door, shuffled my feet into them, and raised my hand to snap my fingers.
But Della pounced on my hand before I could complete the task.
“What?” My whole body was on red alert, my eyes searching my demolished living room and relatively untouched kitchen.
“You can’t go out like that,” Della whispered furiously, her face a picture of panic.
Frowning, I looked back down at myself. Yep, all my parts were covered.
“It’s summer. Shorts and a tank aren’t going to turn any heads no matter how much ink is on display.”
A dawning realization lit up Della’s face before she winced. “You haven’t checked a mirror since you got back, have you?”

#Excerpt: PARAGON by Shauna Alderson

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Shauna Alderson will be awarding a $20 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stopson the tour.

Now that high school is over, Randi just wants to live her quiet life in her little town, but it doesn’t feel right without her friends there. Ever the daredevils, they’ve gone to seek adventure in the capital city of Grandin, and Randi can’t help but feel left behind. Not to mention she definitely can’t stop thinking about that kiss she and Eddy shared before he left.

When Randi discovers a mysterious mark on her skin that matches an illustration in “A Handbook on Paragonhood”, she’s thrown into a world of powerful gods and ancient magic that she thought only existed in the myths. She’ll have to step out of her comfort zone—and into the dangerous streets of Grandin—to find a way to protect herself and the people she loves.

Randi’s not the only one with a secret, though, and she finds herself questioning who she can trust. Randi will have to wrestle with what it means to be a Paragon and how far she’s willing to go to do what’s right.

With the fate of the world on the line, can she live up to being one of the chosen?

Excerpt:

Granite floor, walls like black static, and out of the moving darkness looms a door. I push its handle down, opening the door to a huge space.

A man and a woman circle each other like raptors, each brandishing a knife. The static-fuzz wall to my left is covered in weapon racks—everything from maces to swords to guns—and stone braziers, while the wall to my right is lined with punching bags and benches. A seemingly spaced-out old man sits on one of the benches, and a middle-aged guy fiddles with something on the furthest bench.

I don’t think I’m supposed to be here.

The middle-aged man lifts his head to watch the fight and sees me. “New girl,” he tells the others.

Everyone stops. The other two men simply seem bewildered, but the lady-predator with the knife might just kill me, judging from her glare.

“Uh, sorry, I'll just go,” I stammer. I pivot on my heels, but behind me, I only find blackness. No door.

My gut drops.

“Don’t be afraid,” the male fighter says. “We won’t hurt you.”

I peek over my shoulder as he discards his weapon onto the floor. That's not a hazard at all. “Where am I?” The words come out in a squeak.

He scratches the side of his head. “It’s—well, it’s hard to explain.”

“We call it the dreamscape,” the woman says. “We Paragons come here to hone our skills. You being here means you found out.”

She must be referring to the mark and the myths. I found out what I am, and now I show up here. Makes sense in a dream-logic sort of way.

Interview with Michelle Davis, LEARNING TO BEND

What are your favorite TV shows?Friends, Thirty Rock, Sex and the City, Scandal, Seinfeld, Cheers, and The Family Guy.
What is your favorite meal?Salmon, roasted vegetables, and black rice – with a Caesar salad.
If you were to write a series of novels, what would it be about?Perhaps I’d write a sequel to Learning to Bend. It might be fun to follow Jenna and Jackson as they experience life together in Bend. I’m sure I could think of something interestingJ .
Is there a writer you idolize? If so who?Idolize is a strong word. But if I would idolize anyone, it would be Eckhart Tolle. His writing and insights are amazing. I constantly reread his books, and each time, I find new nuggets of wisdom.
How did you come up for the title of this book?Part of me has always struggled with tight muscles. I still cannot touch the floor during yoga class. Yet, it wasn’t just my body that was tight – I also lived in my mind more than in my heart. It was easier to think than feel. But by digging deep within and embracing my own shadows, I’ve learned how to soften and become more flexible – both mentally and physically. It made me curious – maybe if I wove this theme into a book, others may also learn how to bend.Simultaneously, I began blogging – elevate is the name of the blog at michellemdavis.net.The goal of this site is to help others elevate to their higher selves by sharing thought provoking blogs. I think that Learning to Bend blends nicely into this philosophy.

BLURB:Jenna Moore's flawlessly orchestrated life and engagement to Ben Kelly, “the perfect man,” vanish when she discovers a controlling side of her fiancé. Confused and unsure of who she is without Ben, Jenna decides to uproot from her safe, predictable life in Boston and move to Bend, Oregon, hoping to find her answers there. It’s when she meets Jackson, a former Navy SEAL who battles demons of his own, that Jenna finds the courage to let go of being perfect and embrace uncomfortable risks, transforming her life through forgiveness, compassion, surrender and acceptance. Yet the rewards from discovering her true self exceed Jenna’s expectations – not only does she find the greatest love of her life, but she also understands what’s kept her from learning to bend.Twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four... one more, I think to myself, straining to finish the final pull-up. Twenty-five. Done. I then grab a thirty-five-pound kettlebell and begin the first of three sets of twenty swings. The clock on my nightstand says 4:41. I spend the next half-hour hammering my muscles with weights, knowing that is not the end of my morning workout – I still have a run. Welcome to my world. This is my daily practice, my religion. It’s the only stable aspect of my life. But I need it, crave it actually. It’s what helps me counter the nightmares and the pain.
It’s been over a year now. My thirty-four-year old body hasn’t physically changed since I left the SEALS. At six feet two, discipline and hard work have kept me at a steady weight of 197 pounds. In fact, my only variance from years of following the SEAL’s strict codes is that I grew out my hair. Now, it’s almost at my shoulders. I think letting it grow was symbolic at first, representing a departure from my former life as a Navy Commander. Yeah, those were the best years of my life. I loved what I did, and my guys were freakin’ awesome, totally dependable and loyal as dogs. But afterward, it was impossible to stay. I couldn’t trust myself.

#Review: THE MAKING OF A MARQUESS by Lynne Connolly

  4 of 5 stars
Benedict Thorpe never planned on staying away for 7 years after a duel with his cousin, but when he receives a dire letter from his friend that the estate was in trouble, he comes back to England to claim his title and estate once again. Unfortunately, it's not that simple because his cousin Louis has enjoyed the perks of being the marquess without actually holding the title. Now an investigation is needed to see who is actually entitled to the estate and Dorothea Rowland is part of it. Dorothea has loved Ben for years and tries to shield her heart from anymore heartache, but sometimes, the heart does what the heart wants. Can these two find their way back to each other or will a sinister mystery kill Ben before she can declare her love?

I enjoyed this book, but I found the some parts dragged a bit. There was a good mystery running through the book and that kept me turning the pages. I liked Ben. He was someone who had learned from his mistakes and showed remarkable restraint while the investigation into who actually was the marquess continued. There is a lot of sex in this book--too much and I skipped over those pages. I get their attraction without every detail of their sex life revealed. All in all, this was good read.

I voluntarily read the advanced reader copy and all opinions are my own.

Excerpt:

Once Maximilian Joseph Matheson made up his mind that he wanted something, there was no turning back.

Max stood in the 800 block of Noyes Street and watched Diamond struggle with her shopping bags coming out of Dominick’s grocery store.

Eyes locked with his, as Diamond took a step forward recognizing him.

Diamond inhaled a spicy heavenly scent. As she he drew near. She couldn’t take her eyes off Max’s six feet three-inch frame.

Max smiled as he walked over slowly, assessing her. Diamond was her normal jean wearing self as she seductively sashayed toward him. “Mind if I help you with your bags?” Max asked.

Her eyes brightened, and she gave him an affirmative nod. “You sure can,” she said, watching him rush over and grab all her bags.

She was tempted to do a happy twirl right in front of him but refrained. “Thanks for the lift home, I hate catching the bus loaded up with bags of groceries.”

“Wow, you look amazing,” Max said, nodding and steering her toward the curb. “Here’s my car.”

Max put her bags in the trunk and walked around the car and held the door for Diamond.

Diamond watched as Max strides over to the driver’s side and got in. She bit her tongue, thinking that Max was an attractive man. His warm tan complexion held a glow that added to his masculine virility. She wondered what he would do if he knew that she was wildly attracted to him.

Clearing her throat, she thought of something to say. “You weren’t following me, were you Max?” She asked, as her brain raced. She couldn’t help wondering if he was stalking her.

A twinkled shimmered in his eyes. “Of course, not. I was in the store picking up some shaving cream when I saw you. We just happened to be in the same place at the same time and I saw the chance to do a good deed.”

In an instant, the words popped into her mind and she opened her mouth to speak. “Well, one good deed deserves another. How about I cook us some dinner?”

“That sounds great!”

After giving him, short cut directions, back to her apartment Diamond leaned back and exhaled as she looked out the window and watch the city fly by. What was she thinking? She wondered. What if Allen had stopped by? The voice inside her head, laughed and she knew the answer. Allen would never stop by. Allen was somewhere doing exactly what Allen wanted to do. Just like a man.

Excerpt:By the third day at the cottage, Jess was tired of eating scones, not to mention that the last scone was as hard as a rock. Even the microwave couldn’t soften it up. It was time to get some real food. She wandered into her bedroom to change into something more appropriate than her ratty old shorts and tank top, and pulled the white eyelet sundress out of the closet. She brushed her thick hair up in a ponytail and slipped on the dress over her bikini. She glanced in the mirror and was not surprised to see dark circles under her emerald green eyes. “You look terrible,” she said, patting on some eye concealer. “Go out and get some sun.”She walked out to the kitchen and filled her beach bag with a towel, sunscreen, and a bottle of water along with a small change purse. She had a craving for fried clams and remembered seeing a sign advertising them further down the beach. Whenever she had visited her parents in the past, her Mom had always done the cooking, and she hadn’t tried most of the local food vendors in years. When she had driven by the Fish Shack on her first day at the cottage, there had been a line waiting at the take-out window, so the place was probably a good bet. She planned to eat out on the beach and maybe take a dip in the ocean before returning to the cottage.Slipping her feet into flip-flops, she grabbed the key, locked the door and walked down the stairs. She hoped the line wasn’t too long today. That made her chuckle. Who was she kidding? It didn’t matter how long the line was, she had nowhere to go and no one waiting for her. She’d wait as long as she needed to get her order. She strolled along the beach for the half-mile to the Fish Shack. She had kicked off her flip-flops, scooped them up and put them in her bag, letting the sand warm her toes as she walked. There was a line already at the take-out window, but it wasn’t outrageously long. At least it wasn’t brutally hot today, and a breeze was blowing off the water, keeping the temperatures down. She got in line and before too long; it was her turn to order. She stepped up to the window. “Fried clams plate, please.” She was busy digging in her bag for the change purse when she heard a deep, sexy voice. She looked up and stared into the most beautiful blue eyes she’d ever seen.“Sure thing. That’ll be $7.50,” John said.Jess stood stock-still, her hand halfway inside the beach bag, her mouth gaping open, staring at the hunky guy at the window. She’d never seen him before. There was no doubt that she would have remembered his dark good looks, broad shoulders, muscular arms, and most especially, that disarming smile.“Miss, will there be something else?”Snapping out of her stupor, she shook her head and pulled out her change purse. “Um…no. Sorry about that.” She handed him a $10 bill. “That’s okay. I’m John,” he said as he gave her back her change.Jess stuffed the dollar bills in the tip jar, trying to look anywhere except at the guy behind the counter. She was embarrassed that she’d been caught staring, but it was like being hit with a thunderbolt. Those eyes, those perfect white teeth, and that oh-so-sexy voice had stopped her in her tracks. This guy had it all. None of her past boyfriends had ever affected her that way, especially not at first glance.Boyfriend? What was she thinking? There was no way this guy was single. And even if he was, she doubted he would be interested in her. Men that looked like him usually had the pick of any woman he wanted and didn’t go for freckled-faced redheads like her.***John stared at the delicate beauty standing at the take-out window. The sun was shining behind her and she looked like an angel come down from heaven in her white dress. When she looked up to pay him, his heart thumped in his chest. She was stunning, with the greenest eyes he’d ever seen. The sprinkling of freckles across her cheeks and nose only added to her beauty. He’d never seen her before, but he was determined to at least learn her name. Was she a local, or perhaps a tourist from out of town? He had to find out. He hadn’t been affected this way since Anne, but Anne was a lifetime ago. Even the mention of Anne’s name conjured distaste in his mouth. He wasn’t the same man as he was back then and he would not make the same mistake again.

Interview with Richard Hacker, VENGEANCE OF GRIMBALD

Can you give us a brief overview of your latest book? Is it part of a series?Six hundred years after a fifteenth century scryer gains the alchemical knowledge to create a dark future in his own image, Addison Shaw inherits a destiny: to fight this ancient war that threatens all he loves with extinction. Using an alchemical pen, he writes himself into past lives, leaving his body in the present. Upon completion of his mission, he must die in order to break the link and return home. Addison, and his inking partner, Jules, are members of the League, a secret alchemist society of Inkers who protect the time continuum. They believe they defeated their enemy, Cuthbert Grimwald, known to them as Kairos. When he resurfaces filled with vengeance, intent on destroying the League, and acquiring the Alchimeia, a book of such power the League has hidden it for millennia, Grimwald leaves a path of destruction across centuries. As he quests for absolute control of reality, Addison and Jules pursue him through time and death in a desperate struggle to save the world from his vengeance.
VENGEANCE OF GRIMBALD is the second book in the Alchimeia series. The first book is entitled DIE BACK

Do you have a favorite character?I’d go with my co-protagonist Jules. She is simply kick ass. And unlike Addison, who has lots of baggage, Jules has a clarity and a strength about her. She also goes through many changes, dying and then reappearing in an alternate timeline. The challenge of writing the character in several disparate worlds while maintaining a thread of continuity has been fun.
Did you try the traditional route to publishing, i.e. querying agents/publishers? How long before you got your offer of representation/your first contract? Was it for your first novel?
When I first started, I queried agents and publishers and was fortunate to be picked up by a small press, Champagne Books. They published my Nick Sibelius crime novels. After several years, I got the rights back and have republished them myself. For the Alchimeia series, I spent many months querying agents. You really have to get to an agent with just the right thing and just the right time. If an agent just represented three books with fairies, she’s probably not interested in your book with fairies—even if your book is better. (Mine doesn’t have fairies, btw!) Finally, I acquired an agent who then shopped the book around to publishers. And likewise, you have to get to a publisher with the right thing and the right time. After about a year, I took the book back, queried some small presses myself and formed a partnership with Del Sol Press. They have been very supportive and given a good home to my Alchimeia novels. I think one of the things I thought would happen with a publisher would be significant marketing support. I imagine when Tom Clancy publishes a new novel his publisher pulls out the marketing stops. But for the rest of us, the marketing support is minimal. It’s really up to you. So, if you’re already paying for editing and marketing, the publishing part is not technically difficult to achieve these days. I can see why many authors self-publish. My first novel won best science fiction novel at a writer’s conference back in 2010, but it really wasn’t ready for publishing. I’ve kept it in my back pocket, working on it and hope to publish it myself this year.
Do you belong to a critique group? Have they helped improve your writing?
I used to belong to a long-standing critique group which was very helpful at the time. And I think when you’re starting out, having a regular critique group provides a great discipline for writing and thinking about writing. However, there was a point when getting a critique on a few pages just wasn’t constructive. The issues became less about the writing in a scene and more about the overall structure of the novel—something difficult to get to in a typical critique group. I still rely on critique, but now I send large sections or manuscripts to trusted colleagues I know will give me solid critique in the context of the bigger picture.
What is your writing process? Do you listen to music or do you like silence?
I would say my writing process is to not have a writing process. I’ve got writing friends who have to be in a certain place, with certain music, maybe a latte or a cup of tea, etc. in order to create the environment they need to be creative. I get it, and good for them for making a space for their creativity to flow. I decided early on I wanted to be capable of writing anywhere, anytime, under any conditions. I’ve written in silence, with jazz, classical, or rock playing, with children crying, at home, in a coffee shop, on an airplane, a train, a car—you get the idea. It works for me and allows for lots of flexibility. However, I’d say each person has to find their own path—what works for you.
Do you outline your story or just go where your muse takes you?I’ve done it both ways. My crime novels, which are light, humorous stories along the lines of Elmore Leonard’s Get Shorty, were almost stream of consciousness—at least for the first draft! DIE BACK and VENGEANCE OF GRIMBALDare more complex stories combining speculative and historical fiction, as well as being a fantasy/thriller. With so many details and twists and turns I had to work from an outline which got adjusted as I wrote. I also have a meta-structure in mind, which I think most novelist do. Maybe all not identical, but some key pegs to hang the story on. At the highest level I’ll know what my inciting incident will be, the first major plot point, the major reversal, the second major plot point, the climax, and the denouement. Of course, there’s lots more detail within those primary points.
What advice would you give a new author just entering into the self-publishing arena?Be persistent. When you’re writing a novel, edit, edit, edit. When you’re looking for an agent, pitch, pitch, pitch. When you’re marketing your book, sell, sell, sell. And of course, the nature of the beast is you have to do all of those things at the same time!
Be open to critique. Early on, I think it’s difficult for authors to hear critique because it feels so personal. I’ve just poured my heart onto the page and you’re telling me my protagonist is one-dimensional? Don’t take critique personally. Take a step back from it and see what truth there is for you.
Continually hone your craft by going to conferences and workshops, working with other writers
Write, write, write. Write what you love to write Write what jazzes you. I think it leads to better writing and it’s a lot more fun.
Besides writing, do you have any other passions?Sure. These days I love to cook—I’m currently exploring baking artisan bread and French pastries. And I love to sing. I’m in a vocal jazz ensemble called The Offbeats.

Some fun facts about you, which do you prefer – dogs or cats? Chocolate or vanilla? Coffee or Tea? Talk or Text? Day or Night?Dogs –I’ve got a Springer Spaniel named JazzChocolate, definitelyCoffee, absolutely. And I love a good espresso.Talk –there’s a lot of information communicated in a conversation that gets missed in a text. And in person is better than on the phone. I guess Facetime or Skype is a compromise.Night—I’m a late night person.

What’s next for you?I’m currently working on the next book in the Alchimeia series, as yet untitled. And I’ve got a humorous science fiction novel (think Tom Holt or Douglas Adams), THE BIFURCATION OF DUNGSTEN CREASE, I’m hoping to publish later this year.

I hope you’ll check out DIE BACK and now book 2 of the Alchimeia, VENGEANCE OF GRIMBALD. Both are available on Amazon. And you can find me at www.richardhacker.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RWHacker

#Excerpt: AFTER ALL by Heidi McLaughlin

After All
Heidi McLaughlin
Publication date: March 24th 2020
Genres: Adult, Contemporary
From New York Times bestselling author Heidi McLaughlin comes a heartfelt story about overcoming great loss and forgiving past sins to find happiness again.
Brooklyn Hewett hasn’t stepped foot in Cape Harbor for fifteen years—not since an accident claimed the love of her life, Austin Woods. Desperate to move forward, Brooklyn has focused on raising her daughter for the past fourteen years. But when the opportunity comes along to renovate, and possibly buy, the old Driftwood Inn, Brooklyn knows it’s time to go home.
But it won’t be easy. For one, Austin’s best friend, Bowie Holmes, still lives in Cape Harbor. Brooklyn hasn’t quite been able to forget him: not since the night they spent together—the same night they both lost Austin. Separated by tragedy and guilt, they’re brought together by the Driftwood project. And as they rebuild the inn, they discover they’re also rebuilding something else.
Brooklyn’s always been desperate to move on, not knowing that she first needs to reconcile past transgressions. She can’t forget, but she can forgive—Austin, Bowie, and herself—on her way toward long-awaited happiness.
Goodreads / Amazon
EXCERPT:Instead of heading straight to the Driftwood Inn, Brooklyn detoured and drove down Third Street. This was the only town she had ever lived in or visited that hadn’t had a Main Street. It was such a random thing she picked up on when she and her parents moved here years ago. She never understood why until she learned that when the town incorporated, the people counted the streets up from the harbor, numbering instead of naming, with First Street being the closest to the water.
Curiosity filled her. For years she had not asked questions about her favorite spots, mostly to avoid the feeling of being homesick, but also so she could forget. The less she knew, the better. The less she longed to return, the easier it would be to create a new life. That was what she needed to do: start over, put the past behind her, and move on.
At the red light, she closed her eyes. It only took her seconds to tell Carly she would come back, even though, deep down, it wasn’t what she wanted to do. Yet, she owed the woman and could never tell her no. Brooklyn was content with the life she was living. She was one of the most sought-after home renovators, with homeowners paying her top dollar to come to them, to transform their visions into their dream homes. Her job afforded her many luxuries, except roots. She didn’t rent a home, let alone own one. Each town became her stomping ground, until the next job came in. She traveled thousands of miles, back and forth across the country, leaving her mark everywhere she went.

I think the part that’s not getting through to you is how very much I like all the other parts. I like what’s in here,” he said, stretching across her to tap her forehead with his index finger, “And I like doing the things here,” he said, sweeping his thumb across her lips, “that involve talking.” He traveled down her chest, tracing a line between her breasts, and landing on her heart. “I also like the things I’m seeing in here.”
Laurelin Paige, Dirty Sexy Player“I looked at the windows past him, trying to distract myself. Lights flashed and swirled around the dance floor in time to the beat, the only part of the music which made it into the sanctuary of the bubble room. I could tell it was crowded, but I couldn’t make out faces the way they could probably make out ours. “I don’t know if anyone’s looking,” I said.
“Don’t worry about them. Just focus on what you’re doing.”
Easy for him to say. He wasn’t facing them. He was only looking at me.
Nope. I couldn’t think about that either. Just had to focus on the task at hand.
I closed my eyes. “So just pretend that I… That we are… That under my dress…” I couldn’t even say it.
Weston leaned forward and murmured near my ear. “Yes, pretend that under your dress you are not wearing any panties. I have my dick out. I’m working you, and you are showing me exactly how you like it. Now go.”
Just like that, my panties were damp.
