Perfectly Cozy Pumpkin Muffins

Perfectly Cozy Pumpkin Muffins

Today’s offering is meant for your lazy weekend.  A weekend that I hope includes a whole pot of coffee, slippers with fur inside, and at least one episode of Love is Blind season 3 (are you on this madness because we really need to talk about it).   This pumpkin muffins recipe makes for tender, sweet, and bouncy muffins. The bounce is what makes a muffin CAKE and that’s all I see sidled up to our coffee this weekend.

Let It Be Sunday, 391!

Let It Be Sunday, 391!

Hello friends! We’ve made it to where we’re supposed to be this morning.

Everytime I move to a new place I forget about the learning curve. The subtle but constant reality of always seeming to be in the incorrect lane, exiting the wrong driveway, or having to take another lap around the grocery store looking for canned pumpkin (it’s on the end caps – it’s October, after all). In return for all of my extra efforts, I live across the street from VERY GOOD soup dumplings so it’s all worth it.

Taylor Swift’s Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

Taylor Swift’s Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are the Taylor Swift cookies you’ll want to bake for your Midnights listening party. Chewy, chocolate centers with crisp edges and a salty top.  They’re the perfect Taylor-inspired bake and midnight snack.

This very afternoon, in the year of our lord 2022, I found myself on a Zoom meeting with the uber cool Vulture to talk about how these Chai Cookies have gone viral ahead of Taylor Swift’s new album release.

Trader Joe’s Haul Fall 2022

Trader Joe’s Haul Fall 2022

October is by far my favorite month of Fall. It’s perfectly placed in the middle of the season and oscillates between still too warm and suddenly cool. It’s spooky and cozy and makes me want to nest. All my social activities are the most fun during October, especially Open House Chicago, where old architectural establishments open for free touring. Once November hits it’s all holidays all the time and time goes on hyper drive.

Let It Be Sunday, 390!

Let It Be Sunday, 390!

Hello Joynation,

A friend recently clued me in to the Health app and now—surprise—I’m obsessed with tracking my steps. Last month, I told you about curbing my addiction to social media and I’ve essentially traded in one timeline for another. But, hey, at least this one’s healthier? However, like any other fixation, I have to reign it in a bit. I was recently standing with someone having a conversation when I thought to myself, “This could be a walk.” I’m a monster.

These Are My Favorite Cookbooks of Fall 2022

Hi friends!  I’m forever working on my cookbook library and honestly, wow it is stacks on stacks on STACKS.  Each fall I eagerly await a new crop of the very best cookbooks and this might be one of my favorite years yet!  This is not an exhaustive list as some highly anticipated books are still on the way but… here are my absolute favorites so far! Below each book description is my take on what I love about the book and who I think the book is great for

Here’s How To Make Restaurant-Quality Brussels Sprouts At Home

Here’s How To Make Restaurant-Quality Brussels Sprouts At Home

I spent too many years not eating Brussels sprouts because for too many years before that, I was eating baaad Brussels sprouts.  Brussels sprouts are essentially tiny cabbages.  They’re nutrient dense and very farty – a vegetable to be respected.

There was a time maybe seven years ago when Brussels sprouts had their glow up.  We were collectively obsessed and collectively shocked by our obsession.  This was the time before we were turning cauliflower into both rice and steak.

Let It Be Sunday, 389!

Let It Be Sunday, 389!

I come to you this Sunday with the little bit that I’ve got. This week was expensive – not in money, but certainly in energy.  I think I left most of my energy in the waiting room of various doctor’s appointments and along the 10 freeway between New Orleans and Houston.

The 10.  That’s what people from California call the highway that runs east and west across the southern United States.

Apple Cheesecake Bars

Apple Cheesecake Bars

Let’s settle into the season with crisp apples, cinnamon spice, and cream cheese. These Apple Cheesecake Bars are cream filled with a cookie crisp, topped with warm baked apples. These are our best apple dessert recipes. Let’s get baking, friends!

In terms of fall cravings, I generally glaze past a pumpkin spice.  This is the time of year I want every single apple I encounter to either be sprinkled in cinnamon and sugar or dripping with caramel.

Let It Be Sunday, 388!

Let It Be Sunday, 388!

I love early fall. The leaves are starting to change and there’s that satisfying crunch when you step on them during your hike. The sun rises later, but it’s so bright against the yellowing leaves. You can pretend it’s cool enough for a jacket even though there’s a strong chance it will be 90° next week. You start thinking about baking. You impulse-buy a ridiculous Halloween tchotchke at TJ Maxx. You start thinking about Thanksgiving.
