Looking Forward to the Year Ahead

We are now over halfway into the first month of 2018. There is something inviting about a fresh start or a clean slate. Beginning a new year can be like that too. God has something in store for us in the year ahead, and it’s not just the same as it was before.

As we neared the new year, I was staying up late into the night studying and working on a new booklet. Of the many things I was and am learning in the process, one thing that has become more real and fresh to me is that anything God d...

Love is the Driving Force for All That Happens in God’s Kingdom

One time during a long plane trip, I watched a car race across the cabin’s main movie screen. It was exciting and nerve-wracking to see these daring race car drivers risking every bone in their body, pushing speed, skill and chance to extreme limits, just to be the first to cross the finish line. Soon, I picked one who would surely be the winner. He was ahead of everyone else and seemed to cleverly outmaneuver anyone who tried to steal his lead. But to my greatest surprise, he didn’t get the...

In the Long Run

If your faith is weak

God will help

You will be strong

in the long run.

If you are a fake

insincere in heart

Even God cannot help

in the long run.

Father, thank You for my brothers and sisters. Before the world began, You created each one of us, for with You there is no time and space. None of us are here by our own choice or by accident, but because You, Lord, out of Your love and mercy, have called us before You without us even fully understanding it.

We admit to You, O Lord, how easy it...

Experience Power and Blessing: Watchman Nee’s Book in Review

Watchman Nee was a Christian teacher and church leader in China in the 1900s. He was persecuted for his faith and spent the final 20 years of his life in prison.

I urge you to read the book Release of the Spirit by Watchman Nee. It’s one of those books it is good to read again and again. There are many reasons why it is such an important book for our walk with Christ; but one of the more important truths in the book is that it’s not about accomplishments and all the things we do, it’s ab...

Divine Embrace

The wonder of the
rugged log
stained with blood
of the God-Man
transcends time and space
like none other in history.

There on the cross
He stretched out His arms
of love and grace
of divine embrace
for the lost and damned
sinners like us.

He, the divine love,
invites us, His followers,
to be His loving arms
to stretch out our arms
to be the divine embrace
for the wandering souls.

Change our hearts, O Spirit of God,
fill us with the love of Christ
consume us within
to completely be Your
outstr...

Destined to Reign with Christ

I first read the small paperback version of Paul Billheimer’s book Destined for the Throne in my early days of serving God. It has impacted me so deeply ever since then in my thinking and understanding of the Scriptures.

One of the concepts he explains so well in the book is this mystery that God chooses to have us as co-laborers with Him to execute His plan and purposes here on earth. It talks about how there is a single purpose behind God creating the universe and everything in it: that He...

Sharing God’s Heart for the Poor and Helpless

One of the common dilemmas we face in our world is that we can see and hear without actually seeing or hearing. It’s like a husband reading his newspaper, clueless that his wife is desperately struggling with some problem and trying to get his attention. It is only when she starts crying that he realizes something is wrong and thinks, My goodness, what happened to her?

The same thing is true in the bigger picture of the world around us. We hear and we hear and we see and we see so many things...

Who I Am

Who I Am
What I am
What I am not
Things I have
Things I have not
My gifts
My limitations
My strengths
My weaknesses

I accept
humbly now
who I am
in God’s plan.
No more
no less
Content I am
in His love.

With Christ, There Is Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow

One of the struggles we sometimes face as followers of Christ is seeing where we want to be in our walk with God in contrast with where we currently find ourselves.

When we look back over this year, this month or even just today, we often have regrets. We resolve to do better in the future, and yet we can quickly find ourselves right back where we started.

There are all kinds of reminders around us to tell us of our fallen nature and the spiritual maturity we have not yet attained. The Enem...

Will You Be Christmas to Those Around You?

Have you ever tried to explain Christmas to a 3-year-old?

I have. No matter how I tried to explain it, the little child asked the same question, “When is Santa coming with my gifts?” Even as adults, although we don’t ask for Santa Clause, we still associate Christmas with giving and receiving gifts.

And there’s a good reason for this. The tradition of giving at Christmas started with God. He gave us His greatest gift by sending Jesus to the world to die for us and bring forgiveness of sins....
