He is There

When you need answers to facts or feelings,
He is there.

When you need a shoulder to lean on,
He is there.

When you hear voices
causing more confusion than peace,
He is there.

When you are all alone
and the sound of silence is your company,
He is there.

When work is piled up
and you can’t see how it all could be done,
He is there.

When no one notices the labor you put in,
when you feel unappreciated,
He is there.

When you need someone just to talk to
and can’t find anyone,
He is there.

“I wi...

Face Impossibilities Through the Lord’s Strength

Years ago, during a trip to Asia, my wife went on a two-day train ride to visit a certain area along with a couple from our local office. When she came back, she shared with me about her journey. She said, “While we were traveling in the train, I was sitting up late in the evening looking out of the window into the dark night. As the countryside was flying by, I could see tiny lights coming from thousands of little huts scattered everywhere.” In her heart she thought of the needs those ligh...

Stubborn Fish

I chew the fish down
to my stomach below
my gastric juices were ready
to dissolve it for good.

The fish told the juices
to get out of the way
for he didn’t want to become
part of me.

They argued and fought
for a long time
the fish was stubborn
and would not yield.

Finally the gastric juices gave it up
and told the headquarters to do the rest
within few minutes noises started
and I threw up the stubborn fish.

Now he ended up unused and wasted
sent down the toilet
with a blast of fresh water
n...

Anticipate Seeing God’s Promises Fulfilled in Your Life

We make decisions every day from small ones to more impactful ones. Many of them are steps faith, trusting that if we’re faithful to do what God has asked us to do that it will work out even if it doesn’t add up in our minds.

Think about Abraham in the Bible and the hard decision he had to make. He heard God’s voice telling him to leave his country, his relatives and his father’s house and go to a land God would show him.

How was Abraham going to respond?

Logic would have told him to stay...

You Can

Don’t say
You can’t

You can
I know

Not in
Your strength but
By His grace.

When Believers Unite in Doing God’s Will Nothing Will Be Impossible

It didn’t take very long after the flood for Noah’s descendants to act independently from the Living God and band together to construct the Tower of Babel. When the Lord came down to inspect their ambitious and idolatrous building project, He made a very serious statement that teaches us volumes about oneness: Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them” (Genesis 11:6).

These wor...

Cry No More

The pain you feel,
The burden you bear,

no one knows
no one understands.

Things you can’t change
Though you’ve often tried—

all is dark
hope is lost.

All you want is life to end.

Cry no more, my dear friend
Come to Christ—
He will make all things new.

Will You Believe That He is Truly the Pearl of Great Price?

Two individuals came to Jesus, each with a deep spiritual problem. One found life, but the other lost it. What went wrong in this counseling session?

The first person was a rich young ruler who approached the Lord with the most burning question of his heart: “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 18:18).

He was not seeking a religious debate as so many others did. He honestly wanted to know. When Jesus listed five of the commandments, the young man replied that he had a perfect re...

Is There Room in Our Hearts for Someone Who’s Suffering?

In honor of the World Day of Social Justice, observed on February 20, Gospel for Asia released an in-depth special report about the social and economic injustices faced by so much of the world’s population. The stories and statistics it shares are heartbreaking: whole families being trapped in bonded labor, children forced to work in hazardous conditions and illiterate women vulnerable to exploitation in the workplace.

And it doesn’t end there. The report points out, “Many more millions may n...

Walking Alone

You have to be lonely
With only God to talk to—
The joy of a communion,
Of an eagle and high skies.

You may have questions—
Unlike the eagle flying high
Of social commitments of man’s nature:
Your hunger and thirst for spirit and matter.

Let your high points only be
A venture into God’s arena,
Where only He works through you,
And the will of God is done.

Abraham made a choice alone,
Samuel listened only to His voice,
David like a king always alone,
Moses alone, God’s first choice.

To do an i...
