Derailed
So – after all my big talk about having a real post for you yesterday, here we are today and this is what you get.
I’m sorry.
I do have one bit of shiny good news in the sea ofholy-crap-Universe-just-stop to share, though – and I hope you’ll be excited
“Legacy” is back.
Thanks to the folks over at Daverana Enterprises, you can find “Legacy” on Smashwordsand, along the side, many other weird and wonderful offerings. Daverana has something for everyone.
Thank you, my friends, for sticking with me…...

The Home Stretch and the Holidaze
Closing in on the end of NaNoWriMo and, believe me, this one’s been a challenge.
Many writing hours have been spent doing other things: good and important and fun things, but not writing.
I am, however, still on target. I will do this. I need to do this. But I’ve talked about that before.
Keep watching over on my facebook page for the final victory cry
As for theholidaze… well… I’m just going to have to ask you to be patient with me for the next month or so. I will try to keep to my schedule (y...

Days Like Today
As most of you know (and all of you will by the end of this paragraph), I do not have the luxury of just being an author. I am a wife, the mother of four amazing daughters, and have a full-time career outside the home.
To say that my life gets crazy is a gross understatement.
And on days like today – deep in the heart of NaNoWriMo, with a rather tall stack of work on the desk associated with the career that won’t go away until I finish it – there’s even more crazy added to the mix.
And it’s days...

Sink Or Swim
Here we are at the first blog post of NaNoWriMo 2013.
By the end of this evening, I should be a minimum 8,335 words into Yesterday’s Tomorrow and I might even have an excerpt (as I usually tend to have come up with something quotable by this point). I might even have a decent synopsis… but don’t hold you breath on that one. I suck at writing synopsis…es? Synopses? Whatever.
For the uninitiated among you, here’s the scoop:
NaNoWriMo is an annual challenge championed by the Office of Letters and L...

Embracing Historical Myth
My work normally takes place in one of two places: either a twisted version of the here-and-now or a barely-recognizable (often far) future. I like working in these places. I’m comfortable in both.
Much like my first NaNoWriMo, though, my muse has conspired with the Office of Letters and Light to feed me a NaNoWriMo plot/project outside my comfort zone.
Not only does this year’s challenge promise to incorporate both the twisted here-and-now and a barely-recognizable future, but a large portion...

It’s Not Just Me
Check the calendar.
Quick.
We’re running out of time. “Time for what?” you may ask…
If you’ve spent any time around me, you know what…
NaNoWriMo is right around the corner.
That magical month of November when, in addition to kickstarting the holiday season, a couple hundred thousand authors take up the challenge to write a 50K word novel in 30 days.
I’ve written about NaNoWriMo before… about my need to embrace the challenge and about the amazing prize (a little thing I like to call Confidence) you...

Romancing The Muse
What I try to do is write. I may write for two weeks ‘the cat sat on the mat, that is that, not a rat.’ And it might be just the most boring and awful stuff. But I try. When I’m writing, I write. And then it’s as if the muse is convinced that I’m serious and says, ‘Okay. Okay. I’ll come.’
- Maya Angelou
The Muse is a fickle creature.
She comes and goes as she pleases: whispering in your ear or flipping you off in response to your pleas for inspiration.
Mine is usu...

Technical Difficulties
Yes, it’s late.
Yes, it’s another non-post.
Author’s brain is currently experiencing technical difficulties. Massive influx of real-world-garbage has caused a severe condition known asSick-and-tired-of-being-sick-and-tired.
The only known remedy involves copious amounts of sleep and chocolate. Treatment is underway and appears, in early stages, to be successful.
Stay tuned next Tuesday when we return you to your regularly scheduled blog entry.

The Juggling Act
Did you know I can juggle?
Not really, but it sounds like a good ice-breaker, doesn’t it?
Did you know I can juggle? Would you like to buy me a drink?
I’ve always been amazed by jugglers. There have always been jugglers in my life, and I’ve never stopped being fascinated by them. As a child, it was pure magic. As an adult (or someone that can pass for one when she has to), it’s an amazing display of skill – and one that I’ve never been able to achieve, let alone ma...

Banned Books Week – Celebrate!
According to the American Library Association:
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community –- librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types –- in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.
