Good Night, Sweet Muse

A while back, I wrote an entry called Romancing The Muse

It opened with a quote from Maya Angelou and spoke some of the amazing time I was fortunate enough to see her speak.

I learned, this morning, that this amazing woman has passed away.

The following statement was posted on her Facebook page:

Statement from Dr. Maya Angelou’s Family:

Dr. Maya Angelou passed quietly in her home before 8:00 a.m. EST. Her family is extremely grateful that her ascension was not belabored by a...

To Spoof or Not To Spoof

I very much enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy.

In spite of a few details that make me grind my teeth, I have very much enjoyed the Hunger Games films (to this point).

So,of course, I had to watch the Starving Games parody. It was cute. Not great by any definition… but parody’s aren’t supposed to be.

Still… glad I watched it on Netflix and didn’t buy it

Right about now, you’re probably wondering where this is going… just stick with me a little while longer…

When things like Starving Games and The W...

Summertime, Summertime, Sum-Sum-Summertime…

I would sing more, but two things will spare you.

1) I love my readers and would not subject you to my singing voice

2) Unlike my children, I don’t get a summer vacation

It’s a little difficult to feel like celebrating the beginning of summer when all it really translates to, for me, is not having to make sure my kids are ready for school (or close to it) before I leave for work.

Please note: you’re in the final hours of the Wonderland Release Party pricing of the Rio Crew Novels. As of tomorrow...

Write. Seriously. Just write.

A couple years ago, I had opportunity to speak to a number of Sierra High School classes. One of the Language Arts teachers invited me to speak to her classes and it turned into an all-day affair with a number of teachers.

It was great. I spoke to them about finding inspiration for fiction and answered a number of questions on many different writing subjects. It was great fun and a wonderful experience.

I had the honor, this school year, of serving as a mentor for one of the Sierra High seniors...

Amid all the excitement of the Wonderland release, I seem to have accomplished everything except updating the Order page

I apologize for not catching it before. The page has now been updated.

NOW… Wonderland

Summer was Hell and going back to school didn’t help and the Rio Crew plan to leave their troubles at home and enjoy a well-deserved break at the Summit View Ski Lodge.

You know that thing about the best laid plans, though…

It may be a different setting with some new faces… but it’s the same old Rio Crew.

THEN… The Gardens of Delora Valley

School may have started and the Rio Crew may have been split in half, but there are monsters in Delora Valley too.

Returning to the prestigious Rutherford Academy hadn’t been at the top of the list of things Josh and Staci wanted to do… but it was at the top of the list of things they had to do.

What they didn’t know was that a dark series of events set in motion years earlier were reaching critical stages and, regardless of their ignorance to them, they were at the the center of things.

When Ti...

THEN… The Wolves of Rio Hevrir

School may have started and the Rio Crew may have been split in half, but the monsters in Rio Hevrir don’t care.

Nature abhors a vacuum, and the nature of evil is no exception.

They removed one threat to the safety of Rio Hevrir over the summer but there was another prowling in the shadows… waiting for the right moment.

With only J.J., Liberty, and Billy left in town, they decided that moment had come.

The old dates for the dog days of summer are a little off in Rio Hevrir… and now it’s time to s...
