Flash Fiction Friday #2

Godshome – Day 2

In the most ancient times, their Gods had descended from the sky on shining wings and bestowed on Their chosen people a wealth of benevolence and knowledge previously unknown in the world. When They had taught the people so much that they would never do without, the Gods vanished into the jungle never to return.

It seemed a little far-fetched to me, to be honest… but to my team, it sounded like aliens.

It wasn’t a new theory.

Through the ages aliens have been the explanation for...

Well… that figures…

I think it’s safe to say that the Universe has decided that this session of Camp NaNoWriMo just isn’t in the cards for me.

I can think of many much kinder ways it could have informed me of this particular decision, but I digress…

I was doing so well, too – almost 13K without a dramatic heartbreaking character death. That might have been a record.

I am still working – just not at the pace I’d like. There are too many other things occupying the sectors of my brain that translate ideas into keystro...

And Away We Go!

Just for my readers: a first look at my project for July’s Camp NaNoWriMo session.

Still tentatively called Rise 2506… but tentative is the important part. The more I write, the less I like the title.

Ah, the joys of having a severely indecisive inner-editor…

After nearly a century of carefully positioning itself, Arma Armis Orbis, Inc. had become the world’s leading supplier of military hardware. Sadly, it hadn’t been terribly difficult. The AAO Research & Development teams had been popula...

Flash Fiction Friday #1

Flash Fiction Friday 7-4-14

Day in and day out, it was always the same old thing: inspect the seals, check the thrusters, stow the cargo…

When he was a kid, he was going to be a pilot. None of this below-decks nameless labor bullshit. He’d seen them all this life: those guys strutting around the terminal with their sharply pressed uniforms and their shiny slicked-back hair, looking down their noses at everyone they passed. He grew up determined to be on the upper deck, greeting the passengers he would fly around the worl...

Urban Wardens: Alpha To Oblivion… teaser

It occurred to me that I didn’t give you a teaser for Urban Wardens: Alpha To Oblivion like I did for Legacy.

Without further ado… here’s one of my favorite scenes…

The vehicles moved slowly toward him at first, picking up speed when it became obvious to their drivers that he wasn’t going to move. Johnny smirked and reached inside the car to press a button on the rearview mirror.

“This is OnStar,” a pleasant female voice said from the device. “Do you need assistance?”

“There’s about to be trouble...

Did You Brace Yourself?

I warned you last week, didn’t I?

July is here: and with it promises of summer fun, fireworks, playing outside until past bedtime just because it’s still light out…

Wait…

That’s not it. Well, it might be for some – but not me.

I’m off to Camp NaNoWriMo.

Of course, I won’t actually be going to camp (pity), but I will be writing. Lots.

Watch here and over on the facebook page for bits and blurbs from a new work tentatively being called Rise 2506.

While you’re waiting for new stuff, head on over to Sma...

Brace Yourselves… July Is Coming

June is almost over.

Already.

Time flies when The Universe is out to get you, I suppose.

But what does the end of June really mean?

Well…

For one thing, it means this week is your last chance to pick up Legacy for free. Hop on over to smashwords and grab it while you can.

It also means that July is almost upon us. Which means, of course, I’m going to camp. Camp NaNoWriMo, that is. It’s just like November, only with the opportunity to scale things down a bit.

This July, I’ll be buried in a dark corpo...

Random Bonus Post

Because, sometimes, there need to be random bonus posts.

My eldest child is a rather talented musician (if I do say so myself), and wrote this after reading the Scarred Sun Trilogy.

Enjoy!

Also – just a reminder – June’s coming to an end pretty quick.

If you want to pick upLegacy for a song (or a review, as the case may be), head of over to Smashwords and grab it.

Not What I Was Hoping For

Last week, I promised a more substantial blog entry.

Unfortunately, this one isn’t what I had in mind.

I was hoping to have found the time to reattach my head after those curve-balls I spoke of knocked me flat… but that hasn’t happened yet. Truth be told, I may be generally less together today than I was last week.

But…

I am here.

I am writing.

And The Universe gave me a chance to assume a sort-of-mentor/sounding-board role for my sister, Karyn.

Looking back on it, I’m pretty sure I needed that chat...

Back… but not really…

Finally managed to get here.

Unfortunately, The Universe has seen fit to throw me some serious curve balls and I really have nothing much to write about that has anything to do with this page.

I will be back, next week, with something more substantial.

Until then, thank you for being here.
