Almost Forgot to Mention These...
It's been a little hectic around here these days.
My review of Buyout , by Alexander Irvine, is up at Fantasy Magazine.
Once again, I was privileged to serve as a judge for the Parsec Awards, this time in the Long Fiction Category. Congratulations to James Durham, who won for FETIDUS !.
And the first draft on the next novel, a collaboration with
ivo_shandor , is done and in his hot little hands for a last look-see. The other four novels that have been impatiently waiting their turn to get written...

Dear Free-to-Play-MMO...
...slathering my Facebook account with ads featuring busty, scantily clad women whom you wish me to believe are all sitting around in their underwear playing your game (or who maybe are actually in your game - the ads aren't quite clear) doesn't really tell me much about your gameplay.
And believe it or not, that's what I'm actually interested in.

For Those Asking About Metropolis...

Important Sorbet Note
Before making banana-strawberry sorbet, one must make sure that one's intended audience actually likes banana-strawberry sorbet, which Melinda doesn't. To wit:
Me (handing her a spoonful of sorbet fresh out of the machine): What do you think?
Melinda: It tastes like banana strawberry.
Me: Good banana strawberry?
Melinda: You know I don't actually like banana strawberry, right?
Me: Err, no. I didn't. (mentally deducts Husband Points from himself)
Melinda: It's very nice. I just don't like it.

Subconscious, Explain Thyself
Or at least let me know why I suddenly have "Modern Day Delilah" by forgotten 80s hair-rock hero Van Stephenson running through my head.

Thoughts on Metropolis...
More specifically, the gorgeous extended cut of Metropolis that's playing at the Carolina, which Melinda and I took in with Badger, Merrie, and Luna on Saturday night:
Putting together an evil plan that relies exclusively on the goodwill of the man who hates you most in the world is probably not a good idea.High-end German strip clubs are weird.I wouldn't want to shake Grot the Foreman's hand either after he stuck it down his pants.Watching a two hour silent movie after having cake at the Mad...

A Fine Evening
Dinner at the Hayes-Barton Cafe, with Maltese Falcon playing on a tv in the corner and Sinatra on the PA.
The evening show at ComedyWorx, which was pretty damn funny start to finish.
Not rushing through any of it, or worrying if we were going to miss anything.
That's a fine evening, as far as I'm concerned, made perfect by the company.

Culinary Observation
There are many fine flavors of milkshake available at CircusBurger.
Empirical data suggests that "marshmallow" may not be one of them.

Television Observations
Caught a few minutes of "Dancing With the Stars", largely because melindadansky wanted to see Mark Dacascos shake his kung fu moneymaker.
Most of these people are "stars" in the sense that Miracle Whip is mayonnaise.Any tribute to the films of Patrick Swayze that does not include Roadhouse is a sad, pathetic joke, though the way they went effortlessly from Dirty Dancing to Ghost to...Dirty Dancing was impressive. If they'd have found a way to work Steel Dawn in, then I would have been...
