Selkies, Seizures, and Second Chances: Chapter 10 of The Paramedic’s Siren

The Paramedic’s Siren continues to deliver heart-stopping moments, and Chapter 10 might be the most heartfelt yet. If you haven’t joined the Project Siren VIP hub, now’s the time to catch up and read the latest chapter first: https://reamstories.com/jamiedavisbooks

Dean’s journey to the Scottish Highlands has been anything but simple. He’s battling a haunting croon in his head, ghostly visions that refuse to fade, and the weight of finding Moira, the Siren who might hold the key to lifting his curse. But in this chapter, we see a softer, more human side of Dean that reminds us why he’s more than just a paramedic. He’s a fighter.

The day starts quietly. Highland cows graze under the morning sun, Hamish and Alexander chat about eggs and bacon, and Dean, for a moment, feels like a regular guest in a rural paradise. The countryside is breathtaking, dotted with purple heather and the glimmer of Loch Ness on the horizon. It’s a rare calm before the storm.

Then, everything changes.

A frantic mother, Annie, rushes out of her cottage. Her young daughter, who happens to be a Selkie, is in the middle of a seizure. Without hesitation, Dean steps in. The crooning in his head swells, threatening to distract him, but his instincts take over. This is what he does. Who he is.

Inside the cottage, the scene is tense. The child is rigid, struggling, and her terrified mother clings to old fears of human doctors. Dean talks her through it, explaining the seizure, helping the girl breathe and settle. He even helps clean her up, dressing her in fresh pajamas with unicorns. The moment is tender, made even more poignant by Dean’s thoughts of his own daughter, JoJo.

It’s not just a medical scene, it’s a moment of redemption. For chapters, Dean’s been plagued by doubt, haunted by a power he doesn’t fully understand. Here, he pushes past it all to save a life. And in doing so, he finds a small measure of hope.

Why Chapter 10 Stands OutHeart over horror: The focus shifts from ghostly chaos to human compassion.Magical realism: Selkie lore blends seamlessly with real-world paramedic challenges.Character growth: Dean proves to himself, and us, that he’s still capable, still heroic.

By the end, Annie insists on paying him with farm-fresh eggs, a charming gesture that adds warmth to an already heartfelt chapter. It’s a quiet victory, but one that reminds Dean (and readers) that even small acts of care matter.

Haunted Auctions and the Echo of a Song: What Chapter 7 Reveals in The Paramedic’s Siren

Ready for more chaos, curses, and ghosts that don’t stay in their place?

Chapter 7 of The Paramedic’s Siren is now live for readers inside the VIP Project Siren hub. Sign up here to read it first: https://reamstories.com/jamiedavisbooks

Dean Flynn didn’t expect much when he set out to find Lydia, the Siren who unknowingly left a mark on him years ago. He just wanted answers. Maybe closure. What he got was a paranormal ambush in a barn filled with haunted auction items… and a crowd of innocent people caught in the middle.

The crooning in Dean’s head has been growing louder, unpredictable. And when Lydia’s voice fills the barn during the auction, something snaps. Ghosts rise. Objects fly. A wardrobe eats a man. A fan takes flight with a cackling spirit riding it. Dean’s curse doesn’t just haunt him—it erupts through him.

Thank the gods Jaz came armed.

In one of the most intense scenes yet, we watch Jaz step into full Hunter mode, salt rounds, calm focus, and absolute precision. She clears the barn, one ghost at a time, while Dean tries to hold himself together long enough to learn the truth from Lydia.

But Lydia’s answer is unexpected:
It’s not her. Not anymore.
What Dean’s experiencing is a resonance echo, a rare psychic aftershock from their first encounter.

And the only person who might be able to help him?
Her sister. A Siren who lives in the Scottish Highlands.

Now the question isn’t what’s wrong with Dean, it’s how far will he go to fix it.

Birth and Banshees: Chapter 5 of The Paramedic’s Siren Turns Up the Tension

Some calls change everything.
This one begins with a woman in labor, and ends with a ghost in the room.

In Chapter 5 of The Paramedic’s Siren, Dean returns to duty after two ghost-free days. He’s hopeful. The strange crooning is gone, the blue phantoms have vanished, and Jaz’s protective charm seems to be working. But when a pregnant woman calls for help, the real test begins.

At first, it’s routine: a syncopal episode in late pregnancy. Then the sirens flip on. The mother’s struggling to breathe. Dean and Leah arrive at the scene to the sound of a banshee’s wail—a sound that sets off every alarm in their trained instincts.

Inside the apartment, the patient is in preterm labor. Dean works to calm her, but something’s off. He hears the haunting croon again. The blue phantoms creep back into his vision. One even looks like Bob.

When Dean freezes, Leah takes charge. Calm. Fierce. Focused. She delivers the baby with the kind of clarity only experience and instinct can bring. In a scene that balances the sacred with the supernatural, new life meets old death, and the reader is left holding their breath.

Why this chapter hits hard:Real stakes meet eerie echoes: A birth scene filled with emotion, layered with ghostly presence.

Leah’s leadership shines: While Dean falters under unseen pressure, Leah holds the line.

The haunting continues: Whatever Dean brought home that night… it’s not done with him yet.

When a Ghost Crosses the Wardline: Tension Peaks in The Paramedic’s Siren Chapter 3

Not every threat rides an ambulance siren. Sometimes it whispers from your child’s bedroom.

Chapter 3 opens with Dean stumbling home after a brutal double shift. He’s wiped out, haunted by shadowy figures only he can see, and desperate for sleep. But just floors above Errington Security’s state-of-the-art defenses, danger is already inside.

“He didn’t just lose a patient…Home is safe…until the dead walk in.”

While Dean crashes, Jaz slips into full-on hunter-mom mode. A random voice answers their daughter through the baby monitor. Kitchen knife in hand, she stalks down the hall, ready to confront whatever slipped through her wards.

“Who are you? Why are you here?”
The glowing blue apparition hovers in a corner, claiming ignorance. It knows Dean. It sounds… sorry. But Jaz has heard too many lies from things that shouldn’t exist.

Moments later Dean arrives groggy and barefoot, only to recognize the spirit: Bob, the werewolf patient who died on his last call. The same blue energy that zapped Dean at the scene now floats in his daughter’s room.

Why this scene landsDomestic stakes: The EMT drama crashes head-on with family safety.

World-building payoff: We learn Jaz’s apartment is layered with both mundane and magical protections—yet the curse still pierced them.

Character tension: Jaz’s cool precision meets Dean’s shaken disbelief. Their trust will be tested in the hours ahead.

The chapter ends with more questions than answers. Is Dean cursed? Can the blue energy be removed? And why did it choose little Joanna’s bedroom as its first stop?

What Follows After the Call? Dean’s Silence Speaks Volumes in The Paramedic’s Siren

Sometimes the real shock doesn’t hit during the call. It comes after.

In Chapter 2 of The Paramedic’s Siren, the emergency may be over, but for Dean, the consequences are just beginning. We pick up right after the intense cardiac code in Chapter 1, and while Leah is busy restocking their ambulance, Dean hasn’t even moved. He sits in silence, staring at nothing—and everything.

There’s something in the air. Not grief. Not adrenaline. Something else. Ghostly figures swirl just at the edge of his vision. They’re not speaking. They’re just… there.

Dean brushes it off. Leah notices. And the quiet tension between them is enough to make readers hold their breath.

The magic that jolted into Dean’s arm during the call is doing something. Whether it’s psychological, supernatural, or something else entirely, we don’t know yet. But it’s clear he’s not himself. His hands tremble. His words are short. And when Leah brings up reporting the incident to their vampire lieutenant, Brynne, Dean’s uncharacteristic flash of anger says more than any medical chart ever could.

What makes this chapter work:It slows down after the action and lets the consequences simmer.

We see the emotional weight of the job, with a paranormal edge.

Leah and Dean’s dynamic is tested—especially now that something might be haunting him.

This chapter is a powerful reminder that not all wounds are visible. Some are quiet. Some float behind your eyes. And some might change everything.
