Tron Legacy - 2010

Now this is what I'm talking about! I had such high hopes for 2009 being an awesome year of movies, then of course T2 and HP6 crashed and burned.

The only things left to salvage this year are GI Joe and District 9 perhaps, but in 2010 we've got Tron. I have to say this trailer was absolutely AWESOME!!! Make sure you watch it in HD and full screen and turn the sound up.

Whole House Fans Suck

And I mean that in the nicest sense of the word. They suck all the hot air out of the house in a matter of minutes, blasting it into the attic and out through vents on the roof and sides of the house, eventually sending that nasty heat into the swirling waves of air that in a few weeks will wind up over in Asia somewhere.

I think it's sort of like the butterfly effect, only there's a whole lot more air being moved by one of these industrial fans than from a butterfly's wings.

Harry Potter and the Half-Baked Plot

Harry Potter and the Half-Baked Plot

Seriously, where do I even begin…how about I tell the story like the movie does. Enjoy…

Oh look - the Death Eaters are flying around London, but then they blast into Diagon Alley and and kidnap Olivander and destroy the wand shop. But why would they do that? Oh wait, let's make one of the bridges in London fall into the Thames. Why? Stop asking, let's just move on.

Oh look Harry is sitting in a diner. A muggle diner. Reading the wizarding world's newspaper. Oh a

I Don't Like the Sun

Why am I starting with a satellite image of the northern California on this post? To show you that there is absolutely nothing between me and the sun today. No clouds, no precipitation, and from where I'm going to be in just a few minutes (the pool), not even a tree to block the insultingly hot rays from striking my delicate white skin.

When I was younger, my body would tan rapidly in the summer. I was always at the pool or doing something outdoors and so the melatonin levels in my skin would giv

American Idol Live in Sacramento

We were fortunate enough to attend the recent Idol's Live concert in Sacramento - thanks to tickets from David's boss, and in box seats none the less. It was an absolute thrill, and here's a quick run-down of the show as well as some pictures and video. (note: the pictures included here are from my flickr stream, so you can click on them to view the full-size picture and more)

Idol's Live - SacramentoWhen we first arrived, the auditorium was slowly filling up and the crew was preparing for the show. We were actually one

Fun Time in the Pool

It's been crazy hot in Sacramento for the last few days, with humidity hitting the 70% range. That's more appropriate for the east coast than the west coast, especially Sacramento - but alas, when the weather gets sweaty there is nothing better than taking a dip in the pool.

So that is what I did, and of course David grabbed the waterproof camera. Here is the result of his photo taking expedition into our 10′ round blow-up pool…

[image error]First we start we a completely benign picture of me in the pool. It h

KVIE Seeks Pledge Drive Volunteers

SACRAMENTO — KVIE Public Television, a non-profit organization, is now recruiting volunteer groups from civic and social organizations and non-profit and commercial businesses to assist the station by answering phones and taking member pledges during its live on-air fundraising drives.

There is an immediate need for volunteer groups beginning July 30 through August 11, and August 15 and 16. A single phone bank shift lasts around 4 hours and is a great way to socialize, bond with co-workers, and p

My Struggle With Addiction

I was talking on the phone last night with my dear friend Doug in Atlanta. It had been a while since we'd chatted, so we spent time before I had to get to dinner catching up on life, reality television, personal health, pets, and blogging. During the course of the conversation he mentioned that he often uses his blog to talk about things that he probably wouldn't discuss in person - things that might be more on the personal side - things that are perfectly ok to talk about, but might be easier t
