A Little Cleaning

This article was originally written in 2004for a Canadian writing publication that went under before it went to print. I recently uncovered it while looking through files on my computer. I thought I’d share it here, since it’s kind of fun.

It was a cool autumn day when I realized my motivation was not in her room. I hadn’t worked on my book for over six months. Not a paragraph, not a sentence, not a single word. Sure, I was writing without her. Though letters to friends and grocery lists cann...

Writers Write

So I was reading an article recently that listed the “signs” to know if one was meant to be a writer. Some of these “signs” included admiring other authors, thinking about writing, being doubtful about one’s ability to be a writer, or someone who thinks they have good ideas.

While I agree all writers do often share these traits, the key ingredient to being a writer is that WRITERS WRITE. Whether they journal or write short fiction, or even write snippets or scenes in stolen minutes during thei...

Merry Nightmare!

A friend recently mentioned she was trying to buy local as much as possible this holiday season. I kind of felt bad reading that because I’m one of those people who hates shopping. I take the easy way out and do it all online.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the tradition of being able to buy gifts for those I care about, I just hate shopping. I hate thefluorescentlights, the sounds, the smells, screaming children, bustlingcrowds, ringing bells, Christmas music, long lines, and body filled stores....

Paths to Satan: A Guide to Contemporary Satanism

Paths to Satan: A Guide to Contemporary Satanism by Martin McGreggor, guides non-Satanists and those considering Satanism through varying types of Satanic practice and beliefs. This book, written by a practicing Satanist, can be used as a starting point for Satanists to help open a dialogue or educate their family and friends about their spiritual path. So many books of this nature are unnecessarily verbose or are written by Christians or Satanists attempting to push their own agenda. McGregg...

The Lazy Writer’s Guide to Lazy Dinner

Despite popular belief, I’m actually not as domestic as I appear from random Facebook posts. I’m the queen of the microwave and I’m about as un-domestic (when it comes to cleaning etc…) as they come.

I clean when absolutely necessary (i.e. company is coming), though I am a stickler about floors, sinks and toilets. Everything else is optional. It takes absolute boredom to make me fold clothes or organize my office. I just don’t have enough hours in my day to keep up with this stuff. Seriously.

S...

On Publishing – Printing & Production Choices

I often get people asking me about the printers and distributors who help me put out my independent non-fiction books. I’ve even been “insulted” recently, by other publishers, for making the choices I’ve made.

Let me take a moment to share with you why I use the printers and distributors I use.

For DB Publishing’s general titles (books we want to be available to everyone), we start by putting out our INITIAL RELEASE paperbacks and hardcoverson Lulu. The reason being it makes the book available...

Gotta Love Helmet

You gotta love some Helmet and their brilliant lyrics for Broadcast Emotion. Nothing in today’s top 40 can compete with this (lyrically speaking).

I like the way you set yourself goals

The blind ambition you sport like new clothes

There’s nothing bold in the posture you wear

It’s always stunning to show you care

You’re so outspoken, the status quotient

Brought up to peak broadcast emotion

As calculated, as the news is

At least you’ve got yourself impressed

Appropriated, the concepts you boast

You love...

A Little Planetary Magick…

Methinks the time has come to do a little planetary magick, and in all fairness it wasn’t my idea this time. This actually came from my magickal partner who brilliantly devised it without much from me at all. ::sniff:: I’m so proud! {{wipes away tear}} It was only a matter of time before this had to be done. The good news is that tomorrow the Moon is in Cancer, which should give my end of the work some extra oomph (being a Cancerian and all).

To be honest I didn’t think I’d need to do this, bu...
