Mean Winnie Jean’s Horror Happenings in February
[image error]Anyone else having a hard time focusing in 2020? That’s been my week, when I realized I still hadn’t posted my monthly happenings post. And I’m way behind on everything I’d hope to complete last month. Not my usual gung-ho start to a year. Maybe it’s a good sign. Or maybe I need Horris the Hellhound to light a little fire under my ass.
All Complaining Aside[image error]Handcuffed in Horror’s discussion theme in February is the usual Bloody Valentine theme. If you’re not a member, head on over to the ...

Movie Review: Bad Taste & Dead Alive Directed by Peter Jackson
Peter Jackson, the director of the Lord of the Rings movies, directed two of my favorite horror flicks, Bad Taste and Dead Alive (also known as Brain Dead). I was shocked, many years ago when I figured it out!
[image error]Jackson directed, wrote (with help) and appeared in Bad Taste back in 1987. In the movie, “the population of a small town disappears and is replaced by aliens that chase human flesh for their intergalactic fast-food chain.” Read more on IMDB…
Bad Taste is a mix of hilarious and gross...

It’s a new year, and 2020 at that. Boy am I feeling old! Anyway, this year I’ve got a new plan for blog and social media posts so I can be more engaging with fans and other horror fanatics. I’ll be posting this ‘Happenings’ blog post on or around the 1st of every month. I’ll let you know what’s going on in my groups and other stuff about my writing, publishing, and freebies.
Shall we get started?[image error]Handcuffed in Horror’s discussion theme in January is Weapons to Die For. If you’re not a member,...

Movie Review: Something Wicked This Way Comes
[image error]I’ve seen the 1983 version of Something Wicked This Way Comes more than once–who hasn’t–but not for a number of years. I came across it while searching for movies at the library and decided to take some time to watch it again. Here’s what the movie is about:
“After a carnival comes to Green Town, the good citizens are compelled to follow their deepest desires, caught under the spell of the malevolent Dr. Dark (Jonathan Pryce) who can grant those desires on one condition: that the grantees...

[image error]The bed I stayed in last night is comfortable despite my continued cramping. Well, until it starts to shake.
Then the house creak and moans and groans.
My eyes widen. What now?
According to the alarm clock on the nightstand, only twenty minutes of peacetime has elapsed since I left the dining room. My heart races, hoping it’s not another Margery invoked earthquake. More likely it’s Gita.
Shit!
I jump up, rush downstairs stairs,...

[image error]I enter the dining room showered and smelling like homemade citrus soap. Off to the right, a ray of sunlight shines through sheer curtains hanging over a large picture window that looks out onto the front lawn. Straight ahead, an antique clock reads five after seven. Only two hours into the day, and I’m wondering how I’ll make it to lunchtime.
My mind continues to wander...

Find out if Nina will be okay.
Catch Up on The Courier Series

[image error]The Hummer skids across the gravel driveway in front of the boardinghouse as Pete wails on the horn then parks. I’m quick to jump out and carefully lift Nina into my arms. Returning here feels as if I’ve taken ten steps backward. Part of me wishes we were miles away from the mess I’ve made of our lives.
Under the early morning light, we might as well be in the middle of Nowhere, Colorado. The buildi...

[image error]This time my speedy run sputters to a stop as if I’m running out of gas. Immediately, I notice Nina’s missing from my arms.
What the hell?
My head whips around, scanning the surrounding dry grass and rocky terrain. When I spot her twenty yards in the distance, at the side of the dirt road, I take off, shouting, “Nina!”
Upon approach, she’s immobile and unresponsive, a bloody streak revealing...

Warrant for Damnation: Chapter 2 Where’s Nina?
My task for this year’s NaNoWriMo is to complete the editing of Warrant for Damnation, which is book 2 in The Courier Series. Today’s chapter reintroduces a few characters from previous books. Enjoy!
You can read book 2, Warrant for Damnation before book 1, Call for Obstruction or the prequel, Fall for Freedom. This first chapter will get you caught up on all the evil fun that occurred in book 1, however, it is a spoiler for how the previous book ended. Use the link below if you’d like to catch up on the series. Stories are available on pa...prequel,
