Book Review: A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote

I’m refreshing this review I wrote a while back, because A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote has become one of my favorite Christmas reads. And not only that, it’s also a film, although I’ve never seen it. If you haven’t read it, here’s what it’s about: Taking its place next to Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood on the Modern Library bookshelf is this new and original edition of Capote’s most famous short stories: ... Who’s Up for a Million Words Challenge in 2019?

I’m in the mood to share way more than you’re probably interested in reading. As a geek and ex-project manager, these sorts of things get me going. If you’re a writer, you’re more likely to find this interesting. I track word count annually even though it can be very depressing when I look at what I’ve accomplished around this time of year.

Halloween Fable 6: The Girl and the Woodpecker

Tula sat up in bed. “Mom, the damn woodpecker’s back!” While she was only nine, she’d been mimicking her grandfather’s favorite curse word since the age of three. The red headed bird had been drilling into the siding outside Tula’s bedroom shortly after dawn for weeks. Tula pulled on the sheets, frustrated she wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep on a Saturday morning. She needed her rest. It was Halloween, and her mother ... Read more

October Frights Day 5: Halloween Crafts

I’ve unfortunately been sick during the hop and haven’t gotten much writing done. Yesterday, to lift my spirits, I decided to do something crafty. This is made with craft foam. Not just for kids, I’m a little addicted to creating stuff like this. My other creation this year is a bit of a cluttered mess. LOL! But I like it! Leave a comment on Winnie Jean’s and C. Reschke’s posts and you are entered to ... Read more
