Lainey Wilson debuts official music video for “Somewhere Over Laredo”

LAINEY WILSON DEBUTS OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR “SOMEWHERE OVER LAREDO”  DELUXE EDITION OF WHIRLWIND OUT AUGUST 22 WITH FIVE ADDITIONAL TRACKSNORTH AMERICAN LEG OF EXTENSIVE WHIRLWIND WORLD TOUR BEGINS IN AUGUSTJune 20, 2025—Lainey Wilson unveils the official music video for her critically acclaimed new single, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” today, directed by decorated filmmaker TK McKamy (Tim McGraw, Reba, Darius Rucker). Falling through a rabbit hole of nostalgia, Wilson embarks on a surreal adventure inspired by the timeless magic of The Wizard of Oz. In pursuit of love lost, Wilson takes a trip down the yellow brick road through symbolic memories as a mysterious cowboy lures her deeper into a lucid dream. Watch and share HERE. Continuing to receive overwhelming attention from fans and critics alike, “Somewhere Over Laredo” was the most added song at country radio at impact, garnered over 1.16 million streams across platforms in its first 24 hours (Wilson’s biggest first day of streaming to date) and earned praise from CBS MorningsRolling Stone and Billboard, the latter of which called it “one of her most commanding, dynamic vocal performances to date, crescendo-ing from a soft-focus, tender vocal, before gradually reaching into her upper register for powerful moments that heighten the song’s emotional acuity.” The song is from the upcoming deluxe version of Wilson’s award-winning album,  Whirlwind , set for release August 22 via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville in celebration of the record’s one-year anniversary (pre-order/pre-save/pre-add here). In addition to Whirlwind’s original 14 songs, the new extended edition will feature five additional tracks: “Somewhere Over Laredo,” “Bell Bottoms Up,” “King Ranch, King George, King James,” “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day” and “Peace, Love, and Cowboys.” The release adds to yet another triumphant year for the 16x ACM, 9x CMA and Grammy Award-winning artist, who won four awards at the 60th Annual ACM Awards earlier this spring: Entertainer of the Year (her second consecutive win), Female Artist of the Year (her third consecutive win), Album of the Year (Whirlwind) and Artist-Songwriter of the Year.
photo credit: Cece DawsonDuring the awards ceremony, she also debuted new song, “Trailblazer,” with Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert, which she wrote with Lambert and Brandy Clark.[image error]Additionally, Wilson is amid her nearly sold-out Whirlwind World Tour, which includes stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Austin’s Moody Center and Denver’s Ball Arena among many others. The upcoming dates follow the tour’s first leg—a completely sold-out extensive run across the U.K and Europe earlier this year. See below for the complete tour itinerary, full details can be found at www.laineywilson.com/tour.Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Jay Joyce (Miranda Lambert, Eric Church), Whirlwind was released to overwhelming critical attention last summer with The Tennessean calling it “the best release of her career,” while NPR Music praised, “She’s becoming a major headlining country star, and this album feels like it’s cementing that position.” In just the past year, Wilson was also inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, performed during the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Halftime Show, won Best Country Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards and two awards at the 58th CMA Awards, where she also made her hosting debut alongside Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan. A prolific and sought-after songwriter, Wilson has scored eight #1 hits including “4x4xU,” “Watermelon Moonshine” the 2x Platinum Certified “Heart Like A Truck,” and has collaborated with artists such as Post Malone (“Nosedive”), Cole Swindell (“Never Say Never”), Jelly Roll (“Save Me”), HARDY (“wait in the truck”) and Myles Smith (“Nice To Meet You”). She is also a triple threat within entertainment as a singer, songwriter and actor and will make her feature film acting debut in next year’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him, after first acting in Paramount’s hit television series, Yellowstone. Moreover, Wilson wrote and recorded “Out of Oklahoma,” which was featured in the new Twisters movie.  WHIRLWIND DELUXE  TRACK LIST1. Keep Up With Jones2. Country’s Cool Again3. Good Horses (feat. “Spin Cycle”

WATCH: https://youtu.be/2DOA1UaF5vg

(June 20, 2025) - Today, Yaya Bey releases her new album do it afraid via drink sum wtr. As a body of work, do it afraid bravely commits to life’s delights – humor, love, the power of human movement and connection – and the resolve to embrace that joy in the face of uncertainty. Musically on this album, Yaya is also embracing a wider range of sounds, working with an expanding cast of co-producers including BADBADNOTGOOD, Exaktly and Virginia musical collective Butcher Brown, with additional guest features from Rahrah Gabor, Nigel Hall, and others.

Alongside the album’s release, she’s also sharing a music video for the yearning album cut “spin cycle”, which Yaya describes as “a working class love song” that balances romance with life’s less glamorous realities. do it afraid’s power is in finding cohesion in its range of sounds and emotions – from high-velocity pointed verses like “wake up b*tch”, to tender close-ups (“raisins”) and a warm embrace of her Bajan roots on the soca-inspired “merlot and grigio”.

Yaya will take the album on tour in September across the East & West Coasts, concluding on September 27th at the Lodge Room in LA. Remaining tickets for Yaya’s tour are available now HERE.

Yaya has steadily risen as one of the most important voices in R&B, finding a true breakout with her beloved 2022 album Remember Your North Star. Her subsequent full-length followup Ten Fold, which was a wholehearted showcase of all of the various nuances that make her the artist she is, was awarded Pitchfork's Best New Album in a glowing review. Ten Fold was also praised by the likes of ElleESSENCE, and Paste Magazine, who described the album as "Bey's most liberating music to date." Yaya also performed a stunning Tiny Desk concert ast Spring, which NPR described as “truly healing to experience” and noting “Not a dry eye was left in the building.”

Listen to do it afraid in-full and watch the “spin cycle” video above, see below for Yaya’s full run of headlining tour dates, and stay tuned for more from Yaya Bey coming soon.

JUNE 20, 2025—Today, Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig unveils the official soundtrack to the forthcoming documentary Desire: The Carl Craig Story via his own Planet E Communications. The collection is a historic release, featuring music from across Craig’s vast catalog, including several tracks that have never been digitally released. These selections span his many aliases and projects, offering a rare glimpse into the full scope of his groundbreaking career. Other contributions come from Planet E-affiliated acts featured in the film, Moritz von Oswald, Mirko Loko, Recloose, and Urban Tribe.

The soundtrack serves as a companion to Desire: The Carl Craig Story, a new documentary directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye and produced by Sovereign Films that follows Carl’s journey from Detroit’s middle-class roots to global stardom, set against the city’s decline and recovery. The film explores his work at the intersection of music, art, and culture, from his collaborations with Bottega Veneta to his Party/After-Party installation, acquired by the Detroit Institute of Arts and exhibited at MOCA Los Angeles.

Featuring interviews with Gilles Peterson, Roni Size, Laurent Garnier, DJ Minx, Kenny Larkin, Moritz von Oswald, and James Lavelle, Desire highlights Carl’s championing of Detroit’s Black creative excellence and the often-overlooked African-American roots of electronic music.

Following premieres at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival and more, the film received a wide theatrical release on May 8, debuting in 30 theaters across the UK and Ireland, with a US release also planned for later this summer.

On May 22 and May 23, in celebration of Detroit’s cultural legacy, special screenings of the film are being presented at and by Michigan Central as part of Movement Festival’s official programming. The screenings will honor Craig near the Detroit landmark, The Station, the former station that has long served as a source of inspiration for him.
