SWEET TOOTH

PRE-ORDER:

https://drinksumwtr.lnk.to/Halima-SWEET-TOOTH

(June 24, 2025) - Today, Halima returns with “cocoa body,” a high-energy new single and the official announcement of her debut album, SWEET TOOTH, arriving September 19 via drink sum wtr.

A propulsive track, that is undeniably dance-floor-ready, “cocoa body” co-produced by Corey Smith-West (Bathe) and Halima, arrives with a truly seductive visual - directed by long-time collaborator Bellamy Brewster. Set in a hot and hazy club, the video conjures the sweaty magic of early-aughts nightlife with choreography by Roy Garzon and Jordan Kaya, clothing by Theophilio (Edvin Thompson), and a cast that includes musician Oludaré Bernard (who also plays djembe on the track).

“My cousins, my friends, artists I love and trust. We built it together”, Halima says. “It’s rooted in queer nightlife, softness, and the beauty of everything Black.”

On how the track came to life, she shares: “I spent some time in Lagos last year with my cousins, we went to a few clubs in the city, that kinetic energy stayed with me. I grew up in London and live in Brooklyn, I always carry the diaspora in my mind, in everything I make. Working with Corey Smith-West on the production and Bellamy Brewster on the video was amazing because we all understood this and wanted ‘cocoa body’ to be a celebration of our diasporic cultures coming together.”

Halima will debut the song live at Damballa in NYC on July 2nd, alongside Fla$hEthan Tomas & Ubabu, offering an early glimpse into the lush, expansive world of SWEET TOOTH.

About SWEET TOOTH

Framed as one long night out - from twilight anticipation to the quiet clarity of sunrise - SWEET TOOTH is a cinematic debut tracing years of self-discovery and emotional reckoning. Across eleven tracks, Halima creates a world where sultry club bangers meet deep ballads, in a hybrid of honeyed Afro-pop and scorched R&B. Not genre-less - but genre-full!

Halima co-produced with a sharp range of producers, including Mikey Freedom Hart (A$AP Rocky, Dev Hynes/Blood Orange, Empress Of), the album explores desire, transformation, and the complexity of sweetness. "Sweetness on my terms,” Halima offers - a mantra for reclaiming softness without surrendering strength. “The album is about returning to yourself through chaos, and loving the parts of the journey that hurt - the pleasure and the pain”

Though SWEET TOOTH marks her full-length debut, Halima calls it an epilogue:

"Am I the person that I wanted to become? I think so. I've given myself permission to be bold, to be free. To take up space."

SWEET TOOTH follows her XYZ EP and EXU, Halima’s first release via drink sum wtr, where she seamlessly wove together UK soul, Garage and experimental R&B.

Watch “cocoa body” above and stay tuned for more from Halima coming soon.

ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12

RECORD RELEASE SHOW AT NEW YORK’S JOE’S PUB ON SEPTEMBER 3

“To describe Paul Muldoon’s influence on contemporary poetry is like trying to assess the influence of The Beatles on post-war music: it’s to be seen and heard

in the work of almost every British and Irish poet since the 1970’s.”

— The Irish Post

“One of the great poets of the past hundred years, who can be everything in his poems – word-playful, lyrical, hilarious, melancholy. And angry.

Only Yeats before him could write with such measured fury.”

– Roger Rosenblatt, The New York Times Book Review

Soul Selects Records is proud to announce the eagerly awaited new album from Paul Muldoon & Rogue Oliphant. A genre-defying collection produced by Tony Visconti that sees the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet venturing beyond the page into electrifying musical territory alongside an all-star cadre of legendary collaborators, Visible From Space arrives everywhere on Friday, September 12. Pre-orders/pre-saves are available now. The album is heralded by today’s premiere of the truly epic title track, “Visible From Space,” available at all streaming services now.

“The love song to end all love songs,” says Paul Muldoon. “Also, a list song to end all list songs. A litany, then, of some of the phenomena — the Great Wall of China, the river Thames — that are indeed visible from space, the song always returns to ‘my love for you’ that is itself ‘so huge.’ The bridge refers to Prince’s 2007 Super Bowl halftime performance, though it took place not at the Houston Astrodome but the Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens. That’s for the fact checkers!

“Like many of my lyrics, ‘Visible From Space’ takes one idea and runs with it. My favorite poet is John Donne (1572-1631), a specialist in the extended simile or metaphor. He’s my single greatest influence. In the case of this song, we have a list of phenomena that are so expansive that they may be discerned from a satellite orbiting the Earth. One of these phenomena is an island wrapped by Christo, an artist whom I happened to meet along the way. The conceit is that the speaker’s love is also so massive that it, too, would register from high above the Earth. It’s a song of profound joy and delight in being alive. The music is by Warren Zanes, whose power pop inclinations are very much to the fore. And the production, by Tony Visconti, plays up the expansiveness of the song’s subject matter.”

“I've never done any writing like songwriting with Paul Muldoon,” says Warren Zanes. “When I first look at a lyric sheet he passes along, I think, ‘You can't possibly fit all of those words into one song.’ But when I begin to put them to music, I need every one of those words. What I've realized is that when Paul gives you a lyric, he's written more than just words; he's given you something that has an implicit rhythm, through meter and rhyme, a mood and a feel, so it seems like the song's writing itself. But that's Paul, his presence…One thing I adore about ‘Visible From Space’ is the way the speaker's grand proclamations of love are balanced with uncertainty. There's a bombast mixed with insecurity.”

PRE-ORDER/PRE-SAVE VISIBLE FROM SPACE

Hailed by The Times Literary Supplement as “the most significant English-language poet born since the Second World War,” Paul Muldoon has spent decades redefining the possibilities of lyric and language. Now, with Visible From Space, the visionary Irish poet brings his layered lyricism to life in bold, unexpected ways, bridging poetry with performance, verse with the visceral power of rock ‘n’ roll. Produced by the legendary Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T. Rex, Thin Lizzy) and engineered by 4x GRAMMY® Award winner Kevin Killen (U2, Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello), the album once again unites Muldoon with a stellar collective of truly singular musicians including singer-songwriter/guitarist Chris Harford, singer-songwriter/guitarist/author Warren Zanes (The Del Fuegos), bassist Cáit O’Riordan (The Pogues), multi-instrumentalist and composer David Mansfield (Bob Dylan, T Bone Burnett), and drummer/percussionist Ray Kubian (Dean Ween Group, Electric Six, Chris Forsyth), as well as guest appearances from renowned saxophonist Donny McCaslin. A brilliantly vivid tapestry of poetic storytelling and genre-crossing arrangements, Visible From Space – which marks the fourth full-length release from Rogue Oliphant following 2022’s Highlights of the Low Life. At the forefront is the guiding hand of Paul Muldoon, his words weaving through such extraordinary tracks as the surrealistic love song, “Rainstorm,” and the hard-rocking “The Help Wants To Go Home” with captivating directness and enigmatic power, imbued with the rich cultural heritage of Irish literature yet unmistakably modern in both language and perspective. At once cinematic, literate, and deeply human, Visible From Space is the most ingeniously allusive and sonically inspired work from Paul Muldoon & Rogue Oliphant – a transcendent fusion of words and music, brought to life by some of rock’s most adventurous minds. Rogue Oliphant will celebrate the release of Visible From Space at New York’s Joe’s Pub on September 3.

CAROLINE POLACHEK RELEASES NEW SINGLE “ON THE BEACH”

CAROLINE POLACHEK RELEASES NEW SINGLE “ON THE BEACH”

TITLE TRACK FROM THE UPCOMING DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH SOUNDTRACK

Caroline Polachek is bringing her avant-pop sensibility to one of gaming’s most artistically ambitious franchises with today’s release of “On The Beach”, the title track from Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, the highly anticipated sequel to Hideo Kojima’s genre-defying 2019 video game. This release marks Polachek’s first contribution to a video game soundtrack and represents a unique collaboration between one of pop’s most experimental voices and one of gaming’s most daring auteurs. Kojima is best known for blurring the lines between film, music, gameplay, and philosophical storytelling, into an enthralling videogame playing experience.  Polachek was personally invited by Kojima to collaborate on the Death Stranding 2 soundtrack after he discovered her music and met her in Paris, leading to a rare but creatively vital artist-creator partnership.

Co-produced and co-written by Polachek and frequent collaborator Danny L Harle, “On The Beach” is a welcome sonic return for Polachek, layering expansive vocals over distorted metallic synths and a steady battle drum, crescendoing into a moment of exalted bliss that quickly dissipates. The track deepens the emotional pull of the game’s narrative, immersively illustrating how music in Kojima’s world can shape depth, reflection, and connection.  She has also released a stunning string arrangement of the song as a b-side entitled “On The Beach (‘Timefall Mix)’.  LISTEN HERE: https://ffm.to/otb-timefallmix

In addition, Polachek has released an ingenious video that gives the kinematic single art new depth by incorporating the dystopian Death Stranding 2 gameplay footage and monochromatic palette with prismatic glyphs and English, Japanese, Chinese (Traditional & Simplified), Portuguese, and French translations.  WATCH HERE: https://youtu.be/pilme9tCBJw

Developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Death Stranding 2 is poised to be a major global cultural event upon its release this year. Music is core to the Death Stranding experience and previous collaborations with CHVRCHES, Bring Me the Horizon and Low Roar have become iconic fan touchstones. Polachek joins a global lineup including Woodkid, Magnolian, and Hania Rani, continuing the franchise’s tradition of bold, boundary-pushing soundtracks. With “On the Beach,” she is placed within the Death Stranding 2 universe, where music is essential in driving narrative and emotional resonance.

Polachek shares, “ ‘On The Beach’ was actually one of the first songs I ever made with Danny L Harle, but it was too alien and industrial- almost too evil - to work sense on Pang, so I set it aside til the right thing came along. When Kojima approached me about DS2, I showed him the sketch of it and he agreed that it was a perfect fit, and so eight years after starting this song, it got reopened, extended, and finished for the perfect setting.”

“On The Beach” marks Polachek’s first solo release of 2025 and the first since her seminal 2023 album Desire, I Want To Turn Into You took the world by storm. Aside from securing a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album - Non-Classical and a Brit Award nomination for Solo International Artist, her sophomore album brought Polachek to be featured on NPR's Tiny Desk Series, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, all while achieving over 175 million streams worldwide and features on Vogue, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Billboard, The Fader, Consequence, I-D, Stereogum, The New York Times, Elle, and Variety’s Best of 2023 lists; placing #1 on year-end lists by publications such as Pitchfork, DIY, Exclaim, and DORK and more.

“On The Beach” is out now on Perpetual Novice - more to come soon.

“Few bands have been able to walk the line between the angst of grunge

and the warmth of folk quite as elegantly as The Lemonheads.”

-ROLLING STONE

“The Lemonheads’ ability to merge punk rock’s energetic simplicity with lush,

melodic hooks is both timeless and influential.”

-PITCHFORK

“One of the most influential bands of the last few decades.”

-BANDCAMP

The Lemonheads have officially announced their first album of all-new original material in almost two decades, Love Chant, arriving via Fire Records on Friday, October 24. Pre-orders/pre-saves are available now.

Recorded at São Paulo’s A9 Áudio with producer Apollo Nove (Rita Lee, Bebel Gilberto, Seu Jorge), Love Chant marks the welcome return of a justifiably legendary rock ‘n’ roll band, with founding singer-songwriter-guitarist Evan Dando joined by a bevy of dear friends and collaborators including J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Juliana Hatfield, Tom Morgan (as co-writer for “Deep End”), producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Antony and the Johnsons), Nashville’s Erin Rae, John Strohm of the Blake Babies co-wrote and played guitar on “Togetherness,” and Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond (a songwriter and performer on the swirling psych-folk gem “Roky”). Adam Green of cult New York favorites The Moldy Peaches also contributes as co-writer on the loose-limbed country detour “Wild Thing.”

The album is heralded by today’s premiere of the hard-hitting new single, “In The Margin,” available everywhere alongside an official lyric video streaming now on YouTube. “In The Margin” is a classic Dando composition: half-broken, half-beautiful, wrapped around a melody that disarms before it detonates.

“I wanted to have a riffy song, so I wrote riffs all over it,” says Dando. “The body of the song was Marciana’s (Marciana Jones). It’s like a full-on 8th-grade girl revenge song: ‘Stupidly I left the escape plans out so they could find my way.’”

PRE-ORDER/PRE-SAVE LOVE CHANT

Love Chant also includes the recently released “Deep End,” available everywhere now. Co-written by Dando with longtime collaborator Tom Morgan of Smudge, the churning, riff-powered track – which features an instantly identifiable guitar solo from J Mascis and backing vocals from dear friend and frequent Lemonheads guest Juliana Hatfield – was met by worldwide attention upon its premiere last month by such high-profile publications as Rolling Stone, Billboard, Uncut, Stereogum, and Consequence, the latter of which praised its long-awaited reprise of the Lemonheads’ “scrappy, guitar-forward rock sound.” An official music video, filmed on location in São Paulo, Brazil by directors Carlão Busato and Luigi Parisi, is streaming now on YouTube.

Over the past few years, The Lemonheads’ influence has only deepened. Artists like MJ Lenderman, Courtney Barnett and Waxahatchee have all covered Dando’s songs, praising the emotional clarity, melodic instinct, and wry intimacy that define his writing. That resonance across generations makes Love Chant feel like more than a return — it’s a reminder of what made this band matter in the first place.

The Lemonheads with celebrate Love Chant with a marathon world tour, beginning this summer with a series of headline shows and top-billed festival appearances across the UK and Europe. North American dates get underway November 11 at Birmingham, AL’s WORKPLAY and then continue through a December 20 tour finale at Nashville, TN’s famed Basement East. For complete details, please visit www.thelemonheads.net/tour.

Dando will be releasing his memoir, Rumors of My Demise, via Gallery Books, on October 7.

Swell Maps Announce Release Of 'The John Peel Sessions' & Share "Midget Submarines" || Out 9/12 On Mute

SWELL MAPS
THE JOHN PEEL SESSIONS

REMASTERED AND AVAILABLE OFFICIALLY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 40 YEARS

OUT 9/12 ON MUTE

LISTEN TO “MIDGET SUBMARINES”

Officially available for the first time in 40 years, Swell Maps' The John Peel Sessions will be released on CD and digitally on September 12, 2025 via Mute.

Listen to “Midget Submarines” from the band’s second Peel Session, recorded just before the release of their 1979 debut, A Trip To Marineville HERE.

Noisy, chaotic, and defiantly experimental, Swell Maps may not have found commercial success in their time, but their impact on music is undeniable, they went on to be an inspiration to bands such as R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, The Pastels, Stereolab, and Nirvana (Kurt Cobain was often seen sporting a Swell Maps t-shirt).

A democracy within the confines of punk’s “anything is possible” maxim, members Biggles Books, Jowe Head and brothers Nikki Sudden and Epic Soundtracks, helped shape the landscape of post-punk and DIY music.

Formed in the early ’70s and fully realized by 1976, Swell Maps embodied the DIY ethos, launching their own label and self-releasing the jagged, frenetic debut single “Read About Seymour” in 1978. Peel was an early supporter, playing their record as soon as it landed on his desk, a moment the band described as one of disbelief and elation. His regular airplay of their music helped solidify their cult status and these sessions capture the raw energy, off-kilter melodies, and boundary-pushing creativity that defined them.

The John Peel Sessions brings together all three of their recordings for John Peel’s sessions – from October ’78, May ’79, and March ’80 – that were originally broadcast on his show on BBC Radio 1, a vital document of Swell Maps at their most unfiltered - three sessions of unpredictable, exhilarating noise.

The CD and digital release of Swell Maps’ The John Peel Sessions is out on September 12. Pre-order it HERE.

Jack White has ascended to #1 on the Mediabase Alternative Top 40 chart this week with the breakout hit single, “Archbishop Harold Holmes.” One of the indisputable highlights of White’s fully independent 2024 GRAMMY® Award-nominated Third Man album, No Name, the track marks White’s seventh #1 success at U.S. Radio as well as the first time he has scored two consecutive #1s with singles from the same album following last year’s “That’s How I’m Feeling.”

The chart-topping success of “Archbishop Harold Holmes” follows the excitement surrounding last week’s surprise premiere of the track’s electrically charged official music video. Directed by Gilbert Trejo and featuring a ferocious performance by legendary actor and renaissance man John C. Reilly as the ecstatic, impassioned titular character, the visual earned widespread media attention spanning Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, People, Vulture, Stereogum, and countless other top publications around the world.

White’s most recent album, 2024’s No Name, is available now via Third Man Records. The acclaimed collection was honored with a 2025 GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Rock Album” – White’s 34th solo career nomination and 46th overall along with 16 total GRAMMY® Award wins. White’s sixth studio album, No Name officially arrived last August following its clandestine white-label appearance at Third Man Records locations that saw customers slipped, guerilla-style, free unmarked vinyl copies in their shopping bags. True to his DIY roots, the record was recorded at White’s Third Man Studio throughout 2023 and 2024, pressed to vinyl at Third Man Pressing, and released by Third Man Records. After marking the arrival of No Name with surprise shows and pop-up sold-out pop-up dates around the world, White commemorated the official start of the No Name Tour earlier this year with the all-new Live No Name EP, available now at all DSPs and streaming services.

Having recently travelled North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Japan with his critically acclaimed No Name Tour, this summer will see White returning to the road for headline festival performances at Portland, ME’s Back Cove Music & Arts Festival (August 3) Louisville, KY’s Bourbon & Beyond (September 13), Chicago, IL’s Riot Fest (September 20), and Brooklyn, NY’s CBGB Festival (September 27). (June 23, 2025) - Today, powerhouse vocalist and artist Lady Wray returns to announce her new album, Cover Girl, out September 26th via Big Crown Records. Continuing a steady slate of songs released earlier this year hinting at a larger project, Cover Girl elevates Wray’s artistry through her decade-spanning partnership with Grammy Award winning producer Leon Michels (Clairo, Norah Jones, Freddie Gibbs). Together, Wray and Michels have crafted a joyful, revitalized vision of Wray’s sound, which draws from several of her formative musical influences, ‘60s and ‘70s-inspired soul and disco, ‘90s hip-hop and R&B, and gospel. Cover Girl also captures Wray turning the focus of her writing inward, looking back fondly on herself as a little girl as she’s grown as a mother in the years since 2022’s Piece of Me, living vivaciously with the same warmth she sees watching her daughter grow up.

Coinciding with the announcement of her new album, Lady Wray is also sharing the album’s triumphant lead single “You’re Gonna Win”, a collision of disco and gospel that flushes in the spirit of the Studio 54 era, with an undeniable groove all about celebrating love in its many forms. “This song is my night out,” Wray says of the track. “I can get dressed, call my friends, and we’re gonna go out, dance, and have a great time.”

Lady Wray will also be embarking on a series of tour dates throughout the Summer and the Fall, beginning in Europe next month. Beginning September 18th in Kingston, NY, Lady Wray will embark on the North American leg of her tour, playing shows across the continent including dates in New York City, Toronto, Chicago, and LA, before concluding in Austin, Texas on November 22nd. Tickets are available at ladynicolewray.com.

Following a series of industry road bumps and the doubts that can come with finding your footing when beginning a career in music at just 16, Lady Wray reclaimed the spirit she first brought to music singing in her hometown church choir. Her two previous albums on Big Crown Records, 2016’s Queen Alone and 2022’s Piece of Me, saw her reimagine her identity as a musician exactly how she wanted to be seen, and the latter of which led to her late night TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (performing “Come On In”) and perform a rousting NPR Tiny Desk Concert. With Cover Girl, Nicole is letting her hair down, continuing her decade-spanning partnership with Leon Michels to infuse the raw soul and gospel power in her voice with a self-assured collection of contemporary R&B, soul and funk songs that speak to her joy and the revived bliss of this stage of her career.

Listen to “You’re Gonna Win” above, see below for Lady Wray’s upcoming European and North American tour dates and more album details, and stay tuned for more from Lady Wrap coming soon.
