Boston’s FINAL GASP unleash their debut album, Mourning Moon. A harrowing journey through all things Hardcore, Metal, and Goth, Mourning Moon drags the listener through twelve thrilling tracks. Vocalist and guitarist Jake Murphy delivers an unmatched, soulful performance while taking on the weightiest of topics.
“The whole record has to do with loss,” he explains. “The title comes from that anxious feeling you have when you go to bed and you’re thinking about everything all at once. You’re regretting decisions you’ve made—or didn’t make—and you’re up all night thinking about it.”
Mourning Moon’s hook-laden title track explodes out of the underground and aims straight for the stars. It’s downright catchy and showcases Final Gasp’s knack for expert songwriting and lyrical craft. “Mourning Moon” professes eternal love through a lens clad in black and morbid as ever, dripping in melancholy while being propelled forward by a cavernous beat. “I wrote this song for someone but it ended up being about so many people who are either here or gone. It’s a love letter to loss,” Murphy explains.
The lead single is available today accompanied by a cinematic video shot in the North Shore of Massachusetts, and directed by Caleb Gowett. He tells, “Dumah and Azrael have been banished from Heaven. Azrael on the Earth realm, and Dumah below. Azrael must trick the mourning Groom into helping him summon Dumah. But first Dumah will need an earthly body. The Groom’s recently deceased Bride will do just fine. Azrael and the Groom complete the summoning ritual and bring Dumah to the Earth realm. Reunited again, the Angels of Death light the flames of war and begin their reign over Earth. Destroying humanity one soul at a time.”

Final Gasp recorded Mourning Moon in Philadelphia with famed producer Arthur Rizk (Ghostmane, Cavalera Conspiracy, Sumerlands). Its foundation was built by the band’s two previous EPs—2019’s Baptism of Desire (Primitive Propaganda) and 2021’s Haunting Whisper (Triple B). “Every song was written with nothing but a natural feeling for what felt right,” Murphy tells. “There’re tons of different influences, like Killing Joke and Die Kreuzen, even Echo & The Bunnymen and SSD. But we’re not really thinking about other bands. We feel like we’ve tapped into something that’s our own.”
Mourning Moon proves to be one of the most inventive journeys this side of the genre in recent times - now, Final Gasp are ready to emerge from the shadows, and step into the forefront of extreme music's new guard.
Since emerging in 2019, word of Final Gasp’s experiential and aggressive live shows spread quickly amongst the underground. Following recent support tours with High Command and Poison Ruin, the band head out on a DIY Summer U.S. tour, routing Final Gasp through most cities for the first time ever. Dates include Philadelphia, NYC, LA, Austin, the midwest, both coasts and more. See below for a full list of dates.

MF DOOM Collectible ReAction Figure & Apparel
THE DOOM ESTATE ALSO LAUNCHES NEW OPERATION: DOOMSDAY THEMED APPAREL

PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE NOW VIA GASDRAWLS San Francisco based Super7, the premier pop-culture design house and producer of lifestyle-oriented collectibles and toys, has teamed up with MF DOOM’s estate and Rhymesayers Entertainment to launch today their Operation: Doomsday themed collectible ReAction figure. One of Hip-Hop’s most beloved anti-heroes, the ever-inventive MF DOOM received widespread praise for his sharp, candid rhymes, as well as his choppy, sample-heavy production style. This 3.85" articulated MF DOOM ReAction figure is inspired by the cover art from his celebrated 1999 debut album Operation: Doomsday and features his signature hoodie and mask, as well as a microphone accessory. Decades later, MF DOOM is still celebrated for all facets of his work and influence. In the face of tragedy, DOOM re-infiltrated the rap game on his own terms, and crafted an instant cult classic. Operation: Doomsday stands as a testament to the power of betting on yourself against all odds, making this a must-have for hip-hop collectors.
Additionally, the DOOM estate is releasing a limited run apparel line, including Operation: Doomsday inspired t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts, for adults and youth, as well as a baby onesie. Visit gasdrawls.com for more information.

Vaudeville Villain is a concept album like no other, where MF DOOM re-envisions himself as a younger, hungrier, more brazen persona, in order to explore subjects new and old from a different point of view. Of course, developing a second self from a more technologically advanced universe, he wanted to take a new approach to the production too. Viktor Vaughn fittingly raps over next-school beats that move freely in spaces between Electronica and Hip Hop, all courtesy of Sound-Ink producers King Honey, Heat Sensor and Max Bill, with the exception of one track produced by RJD2. Featuring all original lyrics by DOOM, with a few notable guest appearances from M. Sayyid (Anti-Pop Consortium), Lord Sear, Apani B Fly MC, Louis Logic, and more, Vaudeville Villain is one of the more uniquely creative entries in the MF DOOM universe.
Vaudeville Villain’s vinyl packaging includes a 12” gatefold jacket with spot metallic silver print, silver double vinyl, printed labels and dust sleeves. Pre-order is available now, visit gasdrawls.com for more information.Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain

UK's Tigercub shares new video; new album out now
TIGERCUB SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR "SHOW ME MY MAKER" - WATCH
BRIGHTON, UK-BASED ROCK ‘N’ ROLL TRIO'S NEW ALBUM, THE PERFUME OF DECAY,
AVAILABLE NOW VIA LOOSEGROOVE RECORDS

Brighton, UK-based rock ‘n’ roll trio Tigercub share their new video for the song, "Show Me My Maker." The video received its first look on Matt Pinfield’s Power Hour on AXS TV and, today, Revolver premiered it and said “The song is a swaggering, feedback-soaked anthem, and its fittingly gritty and blown-out visual captures Tigercub in fine form, tearing through the cut in stripped-down surroundings.” The heavily percussive single has received placement across Spotify’s New Music Friday (US, UK, France), All New Rock, Rock Rotation, New Noise, The Rock List, and Apple’s New in Rock.
"Show Me My Maker speaks for itself," says Stone Gossard. "This song has classic guts. The opening cobra strikes of a guitar riff... it's seriously in the running for 'mother of all riffs' to the nihilistic exultation of the chorus refrain. I love it. Thank you Tigercub."
"Show Me My Maker " is taken from Tigercub's new studio album, The Perfume of Decay, available now via Loosegroove Records, the label co-founded by Gossard, a longtime champion of the band. The album was produced by Josh Evans (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Brandi Carlile).

The Perfume of Decay further includes such explosive singles as “Swoon,” the fever-pitched “Play My Favourite Song,” and the hard-hitting title track, “The Perfume Of Decay,” the latter of which proved a top 30 favorite at Active Rock radio outlets nationwide and is joined by an official companion video streaming now via YouTube. All three tracks have been met with a wide range of critical applause from such outlets as SPIN, Guitar World, Classic Rock, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Northern Transmissions, Metal Injection, Vanyaland, Glasse Factory, and Rock Sound, which applauded “The Perfume of Decay” as “‘a stalking, crushing, towering piece of heavy as fuck riffing and howling melody…It is an absolute rip-roarer, full of darkness and devastation, and it shows off the band in their finest light.”
In addition, a fiery full-length concert recording – filmed live in Texas during last November’s US tour alongside Highly Suspect – recently premiered at the official Tigercub YouTube channel, highlighted by fiery versions of both “The Perfume of Decay” and “Play My Favourite Song.”

A seven-foot-tall frontman, radio host, and music historian, Tigercub’s Jamie Hall is literally larger than life. Tigercub’s music has always sounded similarly colossal, occupying an extreme space within a diverse range of influences spanning Led Zeppelin and Slipknot to Sonic Youth and Frédéric Chopin. Hall and his two bandmates — drummer James Allix and bassist Jimi Wheelwright — made a spectacular debut with 2016’s Abstract Figures in the Dark, instantly earning praise for their dynamic songcraft and lacerating musical power. 2021’s acclaimed As Blue As Indigo saw Tigercub pushing the boundaries even further, broadening their massive sonic palette while incorporating a deeply personal introspection that explored topics including anxiety, depression, toxic masculinity, the death of Hall’s grandmother, and the recent suicide of a close friend. The album proved the band’s popular breakthrough, ascending to #11 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart, while drawing international applause as one of the most electrifying rock releases in recent memory, with Guitar.com praising it as “shaped by a determination not to compromise, made with tenacity and pride, and finished with a caustic bite.” “This is an expansive and experimental record,” wrote Kerrang!, “not just a twisting, twisted road through Hall’s own experiences, but also a rebirth of a maverick rock ‘n’ roll poet.”
As mind-bending and immediate on stage as in the studio, Tigercub celebrated As Blue As Indigo with a suitably epic live schedule, including a sold-out UK headline tour, dates alongside longtime friends Royal Blood, and an inspirational North American run with Clutch and Eyehategod. Last summer saw the band celebrating its signing to Loosegroove Records with show-stealing sets at the UK’s annual Reading and Leeds Festival as well as by joining Pearl Jam for their colossal two-night stand at London’s BST Hyde Park 2022.
The band’s approach has earned support from an audience that stretches across both sides of the Atlantic, as well as acclaim from such avowed fans as Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard, who signed Tigercub to his Loosegroove Records and declared, “Jamie Hall is not only an incredible songwriter, singer, and fucking wicked guitarist, but he also has a deep understanding of art and music history. This guy dabbles in it all — visual arts, digital media, world history… Check out his radio show and experience his natural grace and cheeky humor. This band is generational, and Jamie’s a natural star. Loosegroove couldn’t be happier working with Tigercub.”
Now, with the bold, booming The Perfume of Decay, Tigercub embark on the next stage of their amazing journey, confidently embracing all the contradictions, counterpoints, and catharsis of modern-day rock.
“It’s all about opposites,” Jamie Hall says. “Sweet-and-salty popcorn tends to taste better than regular popcorn, even though those are two opposing forces. I wanted to nail that concept with our heavy guitars, softer-sung vocals, Can-style grooves, and a bit of shoegaze. Counterpoints can come together and make a powerful connection. I’ve crossed the threshold from my 20s to my 30s, so I’m getting older, but I’m also entering my prime. This record is a reflection of that.”

“The measured heaviness of ‘The Perfume of Decay’ will be music to the ears of
Queens Of The Stone Age and Muse fans.”
– SPIN
“‘The Perfume of Decay’ delivers a riff-a-thon worthy of its title. Those bruising chugs are brutal, with the only reprieve coming from the
razor-like leads that scythe their way through the thick wall of gain.”
– GUITAR WORLD
“This third album details a band hardly in its adolescence, but absolutely in its prime.”
– DORK
“The Perfume Of Decay, sees the Brighton-base trio becoming a fully grown, snarling beast of a band.”
– TOTAL GUITAR
“The album is bursting with grand ideas and musical intelligence.”
– CLASSIC ROCK
“A stalking, crushing, towering piece of heavy-as-fuck riffing and howling melody. ‘The Perfume of Decay’ is an absolute rip-roarer, full of darkness and devastation,

Femke recorded the EP at her home studio in Nashville, playing all the instruments and producing. The EP’s songs form a narrative, with the title track hinting at the alienation and thwarted emotions that lurk behind the neat façade of split-level homes and mowed lawns. The videos for the EP will also be thematically inked underpinning the cinematic visions the songs themselves create.
Femke (Weidema) was born in Drachten, a rural town in Friesland which she dubs “the Kentucky of the Netherlands,” with a population under 50,000, where she played accordion and studied classical music at a Dutch conservatory not far from her home. As a songwriter, Femke won the regional finals of the Netherlands’ Grand Pop Prize before receiving a full scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studied voice and composition, winning several awards, including an ASCAP Harold Adamson scholarship, which enabled her to study under Lin Manuel Miranda as part of the Johnny Mercer Foundation at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Moving to Los Angeles, she became part of the city’s film and TV music community, composing scores with jazz musician Don Grusin, then working at Hans Zimmer’s famed Remote Control.” Showing her versatility as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Femke sang along with Blink-182 on the soundtrack of the movie “Fired Up.”
Relocating to Nashville to pursue her ambitions to write, record and produce herself. She proved an adept writer in a variety of genres, including Latin and county, penning the single, “Goodbye,” on Latin Grammy winner Beto Cuevas’ Transformacion, named Pop Album of the Year in 2014, and having her song “Smoke,” a collaboration with Jade Halliwell, honored as Song of the Year at the British Country Music Awards.
Finding herself alone during the pandemic, Femke ended up writing the songs for the EP, the culmination of her experience composing music for film and TV with its visual motifs – as can be seen in the videos for the first three singles, including the title track, followed by “Love Somebody Else.”
“The songs are very personal, but I’ve tried to write them in a way that is relatable to other people,” she says,“My goal is to find an audience that is looking for something other than Top 40 love songs, music that is relevant to them. I want to speak to those who don’t believe they belong in a way that they feel heard.”

Together Pangea Announce Summer Tour; New EP 'Pt. 2' Out Now
TOGETHER PANGEA ANNOUNCE SUMMER TOUR DATES

New EP Pt. 2 Out Now -
Listen Here

Credit: Kelsey Reckling
June 26, 2023 – Los Angeles garage punk band Together Pangea have released their new EP, Pt. 2, which sees the trio revisiting past songs and giving them an acoustic spin, including 2011 fan favorite “Night of the Living Dummy,” along with three tracks from their latest full-length album DYE: “Marijuana,” “Nothing To Hide,” and “How The Story Ends” (titled “Nervous” on DYE). Listen to Pt. 2 here: https://togetherpangea.ffm.to/pt-2
"Pt. 2 was recorded in a makeshift studio that I built with my brother in my backyard in Los Angeles,” William Keegan says. “I think that these songs sound a lot like the demos that I've been doing for Pangea songs since the beginning. I've always liked the way that the demos sound and wanted to release something with the same feeling."
The band has also announced summer dates, starting with back-to-back nights in their hometown of LA at The Knitting Factory on July 7 and 8, followed by August shows across the Midwest and East Coast. All dates are below.
Since they began jamming back in William’s Santa Clarita bedroom, Los Angeles indie band Together Pangea--William Keegan, Danny Bengston, and Erik Jimenez--have continually challenged themselves with each subsequent offering. Jelly Jam [2010] poured the gasoline, Living Dummy [2011] struck the match, and Badillac [2014] lit the fire with its revved-up nineties rock-inspired flames. Along the way, fan favorites like “Sick Shit,” “Badillac,” and “Offer” would rack up millions of Spotify streams, while the group received support from Consequence of Sound, Pitchfork, MTV, Stereogum, and more. Following the 2015 release of The Phage EP, produced by The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson, these working-class boys embarked on the journey to what would become 2017’s Bulls and Roosters, which evidenced their growth as a tried-and-true rock band with just the right amount of “brattiness,” as they like to say. 2021’s DYE is an amalgam of those last three albums: the inward-looking and self-pleasing experimentation of 2017’s Bulls and Roosters, the frantic and scream-y Badillac with its inspiration from emotionally raw grunge, and the 50’s pop-heavy 2011 album Living Dummy. The band spent much of 2022 on the road with headline dates across North America, the UK and Europe, along with festival sand a support tour with Jimmy Eat World.
Stay tuned for more news from Together Pangea.

"Dedicated to the work and memory of the translucently brilliant writer WG Sebald – who preferred to be referred to as Max – the track and video (shot with a quiet, visionary grace by Tinca Veerman) both plumb those privately excavated wells of loss and recollection where each of us store our past in all its tremors of pain and joy."
- StereoEmbers
"The question must ultimately arise: Is there a modern musical niche in which the shape of Kramer’s talent – not to mention his psyche – doesn’t find a way to adapt, and in fact thrive? [...] It’s beautiful, it’s beguiling, it’s a dreamscape made of reality or the other way around, living and breathing on the edge of mortality, itself a beach on the existential breach. Who else is capable of this? No one, as usual."
- StereoEmbers
"Kramer's layers of sound - sitting somewhere in the middle of the 'poignant / sinister' Venn diagram - are readymade for celluloid. The tense twanging of 'Ladder To The Moon' is prime audio for the moment a devastating revelation hits the protagonist, whilst 'Requiem For Max' is itching to be dragged into a Final Cut timeline, right at the part when a craggy-faced old soul digs out a projector from his loft, plonks himself down on the floor and watches the dusty Super 8 films of his youth."
- The Quietus
"It’s a beautiful, fully lived-in piece that’s almost too easy to fall in love with and at the very least ranks with anything Kramer has produced. If you’ve ever wondered if it’s possible to be in thrall to reductionism, you have your answer"
- StereoEmbers
"'Stars Will Die Tonight' is a gorgeous, serene piece of minimalist-tinged progression as it builds through an ostinato pulse and slow motion electronic swells. A pulse emerges as a piano augments the frail melody, followed by strings that appear out of nowhere building to a crescendo across its nearly five minutes, ascending into swirling contrapuntal spirals before disappearing into the ether."
- ECHOES
"Kramer’s work in music covers a vast spectrum of sound, unified only by an unwavering commitment to experimentation and collaboration."
- The Big Takeover
"The atmospheric track underpinned by echoey vocals and soft, layered instrumentals feels like a lullaby before the heart-wrenching lyrics catch up to you."
- EARMILK
"This is a visual representation like no other, impressionistic and technologically advanced, an exercise for the eye that incorporates depth-of-field perception techniques that force the eye to zero in on what’s central to the core of the sound-image events. It draws the listener, and viewer, into the light, making this so much more than just an audio-focused experience."
- V13
"Like a reluctant seer refracting what he sees through the prism of his own experience, Kramer’s voice here, both the authorial and literal, has a dream-like, allusive quality that somehow manages to both put your nerves slightly on edge while soothing them in the same instant."
- StereoEmbers
- Glide Magazine
"Beyond announcing Kramer’s first truly solo album in some 23 years, 'The Crying,' both in sound and visual representation, brings us a portrait of an artist that refuses, as ever, to hide behind artifice, to front with any show of false bravado (a phrase that is redundant to point of absurdity), instead proceeding as straight ahead and hellbent as possible through the sheer wonderment of pain and loss and age, damn life’s shitty torpedoes."
- StereoEmbers
Not too long ago, iconic musician and producer Kramer shared a brand new LP of ambient, atmospheric works entitled Music for Films Edited by Moths (out now via Shimmy-Disc/Joyful Noise Recordings). Now, Kramer shares a new video for a track from the record, "Ladder to the Moon," created by Dutch visual artist Tinca Veerman. This is final video created by Veerman with regard to this project.
Wrote Kramer of the track and its brand new visual: "The stars were a bit too far to wish for, so we aimed for the moon instead and landed intact. The chrysalis of 'Music For Film Edited By Moths' has become ten 'Films for Music'... the finalization of a year-long music and video collaboration with Tinca Veerman. This is the final ladder, from which we now beg your permission to wave goodbye."
Speaking on the holistic LP, Kramer continued:
"What I have come to embrace is the working notion that there is no Past, and no Future. There is only a constantly evolving series of microscopic moments that constitute the miraculous Present. As fertile as it is and always has been, for me, Memory is a chimera. So if you asked me what it is exactly that I am trying to do now, with Music, be it through song, or through ambience, I would confess that what i'm doing couldn't be more simple; I am just trying to explain myself. I'm trying to show you who I am."
Music for Films Edited by Moths
is out now on all DSPs via Shimmy-Disc/Joyful Noise Recordings. It's available for purchase HERE.

Video by Tinca Veerman
Music for Films Edited by Moths Bio:
In the ten compositions that comprise this new LP, mournful at times yet mysteriously life-affirming and generous in their scope, Kramer sees films where there are none, and composes his accompanying ambient soundtracks in a state of interrupted grace. Words, text, complete screenplays, character arcs, shooting scripts and storyboards swirl through his head as he puts his imagery to sound, and the results evoke a world in which moths, drawn to the bright flickering lights of Cinema and the low humming lights of Dreams, in Kramer's own words, "...might never die."
Though often evocative of dreams, there is nothing even remotely somnambulant about this new work. It bears witness to a frenetic intelligence that asks for the listener's full and waking participation. Intensely passive yet electrically charged, the music comes before the film, as the film becomes the music.
The LP's nature reveals an interior dialogue between musician and choice. Each piece represents Kramer's encounter with the blank canvas of silence that greets him as a composer. Embracing sounds as objects and instruments of Truth, the end result of his process is as much about what is absent and what has been removed or edited away than what is left in its wake as artifacts of emotion. These pieces are the Spring frost of lost imaginings, vanitas to broken connections, visions nearly unrecordable by the human eye. Kramer envisions a music that functions to stop time, as an event that always plays in the present and never needs a past to give it a reference point. It is music that communicates in the most intimate way possible, as intricately and as deeply as the way it blossoms and shifts and evades categorization when exposed to thin air.
Drawn toward the light of a multitude of influences, we hear echoes of the feverishly frozen dreams of composers Morton Feldman, Terry Riley, Brian Eno and Arvo Part, melting alongside the surreal cinemas of David Lynch and The Brothers Quay, all parts converging to evoke a time and place that does not exist outside of the mind's eye of the listener. These ten works are fluid adventures in fathomless landscapes, emotions distilled and offered as a painter-less canvas without a physical home. Each individual composition is an offering to a future memory, a chalice to be filled with the listener's own reactions to them. As a whole, the ten pieces form an image of ten circling planets in an expanding galaxy that colors itself anew with each subsequent listen. Movement, grace, and Peace.
After making much of his career within the practically anonymous labors of an independent record producer — one that embroiders the labors of others to be seen in their finest light, without shedding originality for a brand or to be enhanced with jarring, trend-setting effects recycled for commerce and profits — Kramer's collaborations strive to give a purer vision to Art and a confidence in wandering without boundaries through each artist's ever-evolving intuitive processes. He regards the undiscovered oceans of creative possibilities without judgements or fears. For him, the act of making Art is the act of fearing nothing.
Composing these works for films that do not exist, Kramer collaborates on the video art for this project with Dutch Multi-Media artist Tinca Veerman, who crafts a uniquely idiosyncratic and profoundly sensual visual world for Kramer's visceral imagination. Veerman's stunning creations for the human eye are a perfect compliment for Kramer's audio love letters for the human soul.
As a solo artist, Kramer has always worked with his own unique vocabulary. He is a sound-poet; a restless interpreter of his own imagination and emotions using the experience of his works to invite stillness, openness, Truth, and a selfless surrender to the infinite possibilities that manifest themselves by the simple yet sometimes radical act of Listening.

(June 26, 2023) - LA-based by way of Oakland, producer, songwriter and vocalist Meernaa announces her forthcoming new album So Far So Good, due October 6th via Keeled Scales. Coupled with the album's announcement, Meernaa shares the serene new single "As Many Birds Flying," which comes to life alongside sweeping visuals directed by Silvia Grav (American Horror Story, True Detective) of Bond and two counterparts dancing across the sandy desert. The single arrives on the heels of Bond's run of shows at SXSW in Austin, where she debuted new music from the album for the first time.
Meernaa's So Far So Good includes early singles "On My Line," "Another Dimension" and "I Believe In You," the latter of which arrived with the announcement of Meernaa's signing with Keeled Scales. Bond's followup to her 2019 record Heart Hunger, which Paste described as "a dazzling display of instrumental prowess and technical know-how" refines those skills even further into a vividly-written-and-performed portrait of self-examination. So Far So Good finds Bond processing themes of addiction and loss, interpreting dreams, and discovering methods of release behind intertwining compositions of Americana, indie-pop and classic R&B.
A Bay Area native, Bond started out as a music lover before picking up the guitar and learning the ropes through her high school jazz program. Eventually, Bond began writing her own songs. Wanting to deepen her knowledge of music and grappling with the decision of attending college, Bond began interning at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco in 2013, and eventually worked to afford one day of recording for herself, where she ended up working with her future bandmate and husband Rob Shelton.
Shelton and Bond began playing music together soon after and Bond began releasing music as Meernaa, collaborating with other Bay Area musicians Doug Stuart (Brijean) and Andrew Maguire. In 2020, Shelton and Bond moved to Los Angeles together to open their own studio Altamira Sound with other Tiny Telephone alums James Riotto and Andrew Maguire, fostering a community around the blooming LA music scene. As Meernaa, Bond has continued to hone her skills as a guitarist, songwriter and perfomer, sharing bills with the likes of Helado Negro, Nilüfer Yanya, Sam Evian, Miya Folick and Brijean.

The Inspector Cluzo is a Gascony, France-based rock and blues duo created in 2008 by Laurent (Guitar, Lead Vocal) and Mathieu (Drums). The two met while studying Physics in Mont de Marsan. Since 2008, the band has released 8 albums via their self-run record label F.TheBassPlayer Records, they are 100% self-financed, family-based and organized, and 100% DIY.
The duo has played more than 1200 gigs in 67 countries all around the world. They have played festivals such as Fuji Rock Festival (Japan), Pentaport Festival (South Korea), Lollapalooza (France, Brazil, Chile), Download (UK), Paléo Festival (Switzerland), Oppikopi (South Africa), Blues Fest (Australia), Shaky Knees Fest (USA), Hell Fest (France).
All that said - the band’s main focus is farming. They are organic professional farmers, who run a 15Ha family farm called "LOU CASSE" (“the oak” in Gascon language) in Gascony, France producing organic wheat and organic corn with their own seeds. No GMO, no hybrid seeds, and no chemicals or pesticides are used. They belong to a new generation of farmers who are heavily invested in an Agro-Ecologic system challenging and fighting climate change for the new generations.
The new documentary Running A Family Farm was recorded over 3 years and is the follow-up to 2015's Rockfarmers documentary. Running A Family Farm gives audiences an intimate inside day-to-day life on the farm and features exclusive interviews with multi-Grammy Award winner Vance Powell (Jack White, The Raconteurs, Chris Stapleton) and Professor J. Luc Guérin, teacher and researcher at ENVT and INRAE. The new documentary highlights issues like global warming and an uncertain future - issues that are at the forefront of the duo's latest album Horizon, released earlier this year.

JOHN CARROLL KIRBY DROPS NEW SONG; LP OUT THIS FRIDAY
JOHN CARROLL KIRBY’S “MATES” OUT NOW
FROM NEW ALBUM BLOWOUT, OUT THIS FRIDAY JUNE 30TH ON STONES THROW
NEW TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Today, John Carroll Kirby releases the song “Mates”, taken from his new solo album Blowout, out this coming Friday, June 30th. The album was inspired by a period in Costa Rica spent playing with local musicians and imagining “failed utopias”. Blowout teeters between two definitions of its title – a moment of destruction and one big party. In Costa Rica, Kirby contemplated episodes of collective madness or delusion, such as Fyre Festival and the Heaven's Gate cult, imagining “a festival where everyone gets beamed up to utopia or heaven instead of starving or dying unfulfilled.” “Mates” is the ecstatic soundtrack to Kirby and friends rolling deep to the festival, and follows singles “Oropendola”and “Sun Go Down”.
Like charisma, a signature sound can’t be faked. Over six solo albums and dozens of collaborations, Kirby has finessed one recognisably his own, no matter what genre he’s working in. Once a dutiful student of ‘50s and ‘60s piano jazz, Kirby found a sound that felt true to him when he allowed spontaneity, improvisation and error into his playing: “I love a good ‘miss’ in music. Reverence is good for building a foundation, but you have to miss a bit for it to be truly your own.” With a stripped-down band accompanying him on Blowout, Kirby gives himself permission to miss, and so taps into something glorious and ineffable.

About John Carroll Kirby
John Carroll Kirby is an artist, producer and composer from Los Angeles. Though Kirby's background is steeped in jazz, his signature sound and keyboard playing blends genres and styles. An in-demand collaborator for artists ranging from superstars Solange, Frank Ocean and Harry Styles to indie musicians Yves Tumor, Connan Mockasin, Liv.e, and many more, Kirby has lately focused on his own solo output, releasing five LPs on Stones Throw in three years.
My Garden (2020), a blend of jazz and exotica, was praised by The Fader, LA Times, Q, and Mojo. The same year, Kirby released Conflict, a calming piano album in response to the year’s chaos. Following his first film score for the animated feature Cryptozoo, Kirby’s 2021 jazz-fusion release Septet marked a return to ensemble playing, while Dance Ancestral (2022), with additional production from Canadian artist YuSu, took a more electronic-forward approach.
Alongside these records, Kirby has released episodes of Kirby’s Gold, a web series inspired by Huell Howser’s California Gold. In the series, Kirby chats and improvises with artists ranging from painter Ariana Papademetropoulos to an Eastern European choir. Kirby recently received a Grammy nod for his work on Steve Lacy’s hit “Bad Habit”, and in March 2023, Stones Throw released Sundown, his album-length collaboration with “lowkey R&B legend” Eddie Chacon.
