“[‘Snake Spit’] frames a dark, daunting emotional purge in four gripping minutes of experimental pop… [it’s] almost a psychoactive drug itself… The song recalls the spoken-word work of Patti Smith, featuring June in full serpentine splendor, narrating over menacing beats that pulse and recede like the very urges the song embodies.” – Buzzbands.LA

Los Angeles, CA – Tuesday, July 28th, 2020 - Swedish singer, songwriter, director & producer Emmanuelle June debuts her first single for the sultry, daring song, “Snake Spit” available here on streaming services. Watch the music video here, which premiered exclusively via Buzzbands.LA on Thursday, July 23. June’s trademark mystique captivates with hints of Lana Del Rey, Björk, Nico & The Velvet Underground, Fiona Apple and A$AP Rocky. The track, produced by the extraordinary Chris Kaz, blends June’s hypnotic melodies over distinct beats to transport the listener to dimensions unknown; a psychedelic acid trip through the dark side of the heart and mind to find oneself more powerful on the other side.

“’Snake Spit’ is about Kundalini rising. Awakening desire and slaying demons,” says June. “I wrote the lyrics in London in early 2019. Walking around Kensington Gardens I began pondering on the word serpentine since I was walking past the Serpentine Gallery every day. Also, a cobra happens to be one of my spirit guides ever since I was a child. I got into my creative concentration and the lyrics came out. At first, I thought it was as a poem. Another day, I heard Chris playing this track he had made some time before and I felt such a strong urge to sing on it. He recorded my vocals a day or two later. ‘Snake Spit’ fell into its place as a song. It’s been a magical creative process for me in so many ways and I am beyond thankful to have made this piece with two people [Chris and Seamus McGarvey, cinematographer & co-director] whom I cherish so much as creatives.”

The video for “Snake Spit,” directed by Academy Award™ nominated cinematographer, Seamus McGarvey and June herself, was shot entirely in Los Angeles at The Dream Hotel in the heart of Hollywood. June also edited the video and had this to say about the creative process and concept behind it:

“We wanted to make the video highly claustrophobic and fervent to reveal a character filled with desire and compulsion… Longing and desire as savage as Oscar Wilde’s Salomé and as crippling and morbid as the playwright, Sarah Kane’s work, Psychosis 4.48. We had a couple of other locations and details such as costume and make up set, however, after that one shoot on the balcony, looking through the footage we just looked at each other and said, ‘This is it.’ It’s fully shot within the doorframe of a balcony at The Dream Hotel in Hollywood - hence the massive orbs and pixels of colorful lights. It’s all the lights of Hollywood. I see these lights as separate entities that are inside the character’s head which is a full-on frenzy of lights and movement, whereas the reality is she is isolated and in confinement which could very well be an asylum. This being a direct reflection of how society has treated strong, confident women throughout history. I edited the video during quarantine in LA. It was a real challenge to edit since every single frame of hours and hours of footage was magically intriguing and perfectly shot… need I mention Seamus is one of the greatest cinematographers in the world.”

About Emmanuelle June: Emmanuelle June was born in Sweden and raised predominantly in Stockholm. She completed her undergraduate degree in London and New York where she studied at one of the most prestigious acting schools. She’s been featured in off-Broadway and independent films – having directed and written many such pieces herself. A true creative at heart, June found her voice whilst performing in a rendition of the Sam Shepard and Patti Smith play, Cowboy Mouth. June reflects, “I had to sing in the character work part to understand the role and her rhythm. I realized that I loved it and remembered singing was what I wanted to do when I was little, but I had suppressed it.” June moved to Los Angeles in 2014 and became more and more engulfed in the music scene, jamming with friends and manifesting lyrics from her poetry. June performed in post-punk and psych rock bands briefly before focusing her energy on her solo career as Emmanuelle June. She has performed at famed Los Angeles locations such as The Hotel Café and Moroccan Lounge with her band at the time, Whisper. She is also a published writer under various nom de plumes with poetry works that were once available at Los Angeles bookstores such as Stories in Echo Park. “There might be just one copy left in all of LA,” June jokes.

POPPY SHARES NEW SINGLE AND ANNOUNCES I DISAGREE (MORE) DELUXE EDITION

POPPY SHARES NEW SINGLE "KHAOS x4" ANNOUNCES I DISAGREE (MORE) DELUXE EDITION WITH FOUR NEW SONGS OUT AUGUST 14
LISTEN TO THE NEW SINGLE "KHAOS x4" HERE
PRE-ORDER/PRESAVE I DISAGREE (MORE): https://smarturl.it/idisagreemore

I Disagree (more) cover art

"[I Disagree] solidifies the artist's jarring shift toward rebellious genre-blurring: she leans hardest into scary heavy metal, and somehow blends in sugary J-pop references and folksy Beatles-esque harmonics. If you're scratching your head, fine, but trust me: it all really works." - PAPER
"Part of the joy in I Disagree comes in how overwhelming it is. No single passage lasts very long, which gives even the prettier moments an unstable feeling, like everything might at any moment crumble into a void of distortion and noise." - PITCHFORK
"While the sheer amount of sound that Poppy crams into I Disagree can be overwhelming, the payoff is a genuine thrill... As both a symbolic avatar for her life changes and a strong empowerment statement, I Disagree celebrates Poppy's rebirth as a pop-metal alchemist and unabashed rule-breaker." - ALL MUSIC GUIDE
"I Disagree is boundless and a product of Poppy's own design. She has expanded her musicality while also challenging genre conventions. A major shift from her previous endeavors, I Disagree will challenge her established fans while amassing new appreciation for the artist." - POPMATTERS

Post-genre art and music visionary Poppy has just shared a new single "Khaos x4" ahead of the release of an expanded edition of her boundlessly ambitious recent album I Disagree. Dubbed I Disagree (more), the deluxe version of the album adds four new songs and is due out August 14 via Sumerian Records. The album's variegated nature embodies "alternative" in the truest sense of the word, bleeding the boundaries between pop, progressive, electronic, and metal, underpinned by unpredictable time signature shifts and indelible earworm vocal hooks.
The new release lands half a year since her headlining tour wrapped up, a coast to coast whirlwind that including sold out shows in some of the biggest venues she'd performed yet (including sell outs in San Francisco, Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago, Toronto, two consecutive nights in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and more) and two months since her cover of "All The Things She Said" hit DSPs and became an instant viral sensation. Her quiet rise from incalculable phenomenon (with over half-a-billion views on YouTube) to unassuming paragon of high culture, high fashion, and high art fueled her metamorphosis to "Poppy Version X." She explains that "in terms of doing what I wanted to in every element from start-to-finish, this feels like my first album. The narrative is really about destroying the things that try to destroy you." Poppy carefully constructed the sonic framework for this reinvention, an unfiltered and unfettered creative ecosystem of her own design.

Kero Kero Bonito Release "It's Bugsnax!"

KERO KERO BONITO UNLEASHES NEW SONG“IT’S BUGSNAX!” FOR NEW BUGSNAX VIDEO GAME
Picture this! Following their digital concert as part of Summer Game Fest, indie-pop group Kero Kero Bonito announced that gaming’s song of the summer, “It’s Bugsnax!” will be released today on digital music platforms and streaming services. “It’s Bugsnax!” is of course the official song from the upcoming Holiday 2020 PlayStation™5, PlayStation®4, and Epic Games Store title, Bugsnax. But that’s not all!
Introducing the track in their own words, KKB write “The fantastical universes of great video games and their colourful, often groundbreaking soundtracks have always inspired us deeply, so writing a song for one was a dream come true. Musically, the song is a throwback to the bright electro-pop of our 2016 album Bonito Generation, with elements of the Fourth World art-pop of our 2019 EP Civilisation I, particularly in its mystical, adventurous overtones and use of synthesized versions of acoustic instruments like kalimbas and flutes.”
Also coinciding with the performance was the announcement of an exclusive, screen printed strawberry 7-inch vinyl release for “It’s Bugsnax!”. The vinyl, lovingly housed in a scratch-and-sniff jacket, is now available for pre-order right here. Kero Kero Bonito - It's Bugsnax! London-based bilingual art-pop band Kero Kero Bonito released their highly anticipated and critically-acclaimed sophomore album Time ‘n’ Place in 2018, and followed it up with a new EP titled Civilisation I last year, comprised of their most ambitious work to date. What followed was a massive and largely sold-out world tour, and the band's Coachella debut.
The group features lead singer and chief lyricist Sarah Bonito (who was raised in the suburbs on the Japanese island Hokkaido) before moving to the UK. KKB effectively morphed into a band when Sarah met Jamie Bulled (bass) and Gus Lobban (drums) on a web forum. Gus and Jamie grew up in the South London suburbs and played in garage bands together all during their school days. Meeting Sarah was a turning point as she added her own vision and otherworldly voice resulting in one of the most innovative new bands to emerge in recent years.
Kero Kero Bonito have new music on the horizon for 2020 which is sure to be another exciting installment of their unique brand of bright, shiny positive electro-pop.

BRUTUS Announce Live Album 'Live In Ghent' out 10/23 on Sargent House - Share New Live Video “Cemetery"

BRUTUS
ANNOUNCE LIVE ALBUM LIVE IN GHENT OUT OCTOBER 23 ON SARGENT HOUSE
RELEASE LIVE VIDEO FOR “CEMETERYPhoto By Geert Braekers
Following the success of 2019’s critically acclaimed 2019 album Nest, Belgian 3-piece BRUTUS, will release a brand new live record Live In Ghent on October 23 via Sargent House. Capturing this incendiary outfit in their hometown of Ghent in front of 750 of their most die hard fans at this special, sold out show, is seen by the band as a way to balance out the fact a year of touring has been taken away from them and all musicians.
The band have already released two live videos from the show recorded last summer for the songs Fire” and “Sugar Dragon”, and today release another new live track and video for the spell-binding “Cemetery”, which you can watch HERE.
MEDIA + DSP EMBED: https://smarturl.it/LiveinGhent  Brutus - CEMETERY (Live in Ghent) WATCH + SHARE "CEMETERY" (LIVE IN GHENT)
With an album cover depicting bassist Peter Mulders step-son, who wrote out their set-list on the night of the recorded show, Live In Ghent goes some way to giving fans a taste of what they have missed in 2020 thanks to the ceasing of actual live shows.
The band explain, "When the real world went into lockdown, early March 2020, a year of live music disappeared before our eyes. Going on tour, playing festivals, watching bands, it’s all gone. It was as hard for us as it has been for everybody involved in live music. As a remedy, we took the time to look back on what we had already done and collected the footage we had of our previous shows. Painful and healing at the same time. That’s when we stumbled upon the recordings of our show at Handelsbeurs in Ghent, May 2019. A hometown show we fully recorded and filmed after a period of touring, in front of all our family and friends."
"We know it’s just a recording and not even close to the real feeling we had on stage or the energy we got back from the crowd in the room, but looking back, almost a year later, we feel absolutely proud about that show."Brutus Live In Ghent Track List:
1. Fire2. Cemetery3. Horde II4. Drive5. War6. Justice de Julia II7. Child8. Space9. Techno10. Distance11. All Along12. Sugar Dragon Live In Ghent will be available digitally and as a double LP on October 23 via Sargent House, pre-order is available HERE.Brutus. Facebook. Instagram. Twitter

Praise for Nest:
"A Revelation...Words don't do it justice. They can't. Words can't capture Nest, Nest feels like a primal howl, a raging fire, a force of nature. Describe it in those terms, though, and you've inadvertently erased the entire process - the discipline, the dedication, the painstaking, life-encompassing labor - required to create a work of art that feels like this." STEREOGUM (Best New Albums of 2019)
"Their conscientiously constructed rock is filtered through punk, black metal, post-rock and post-hardcore lenses, and it's centered on the sometimes cutthroat, sometimes crushingly beautiful lead vocals of Stefanie Mannaerts" PASTE (Essential Punk Albums of 2019)
"Potent and haunting, the dueling beauty of singer-drummer Stefanie Mannaerts' evocative voice with the layered distortion of her stringed counterparts makes for not only a gorgeous album, but also a unique one - perhaps no one else so far this year has achieved such a refreshing sound." REVOLVER (Best New Albums of 2019)
"The group still sits comfortably on the timeline of assaultive hardcore-meets-post-rock acts from Refused on through to White Lung, and Nestpolishes its punishing riffs and genre-bending explorations into a potent and cohesive whole." AV CLUB
"Mannaert's voice is a force of such terrifying, emotive power... Formidable and flawless... when Brutus lock into their groove, nothing can stop them." KERRANG!
"It's part ethereal wave, part post rock, part D-beat, and drummer/singer Stefanie Mannaerts' truly soaring vocals take the genre-defying song to another level." BROOKLYN VEGAN
"Talented and Inventive" METAL INJECTION
"A towering wall of sound, Stefanie's glacial cries cut through layers of melody and gauze and her drum skills have the crowd in awe. Their future looks very bright indeed." METAL HAMMER (UK)
"If this is the shape of punk to come, it's far prettier and more unpredictable than we ever could have imagined." TREBLE

The track lets frontman Nic Offer and vocalist Meah Pace trade hooks over a dubbed-out groove, gracefully extended to almost eight minutes of hands-up dancefloor bliss. From the lascivious 2-step of ‘Do The Dial Tone’ to the caffeinated footwork pop of ‘Maybe You Can’t Make It’, this collection follows in the footsteps of last year’s standout LP ‘Wallop’, paying homage to the varying strains of club music the band has always turned to for inspiration. Mixing elements of Chicago House, UK Garage, NYC Disco, and a bit of everything in between, ‘Certified Heavy Kats’ is a high-wire act between subtle productions and controlled sonic chaos from a veteran band firing on all cylinders, featuring contributions from Liars frontman Angus Andrew and Maria Uzor of UK duo Sink Ya Teeth. After almost two decades of unforgettable songs and raucous live sets, these hardworking NYC icons show no signs of letting up. ‘Certified Heavy Kats’ is a friendly reminder that we could all could use some more !!! in our lives. Our ears and hips will be thankful.  [PRESS PHOTO CREDIT: ALVARO GUZMAN]

Alex Kapranos & Clara Luciani Share Cover of Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood’s “Summer Wine”

Alex Kapranos & Clara Luciani Share Cover of Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood’s “Summer Wine”(Photo credit: Fiona Torre)
Watch the video for “Summer Wine” HERE
Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos and acclaimed French chanteuse Clara Luciani have teamed up to cover Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood’s “Summer Wine.”
Sung in English and French, it was recorded and mixed between Alex’s studio in Scotland and Philippe Zdar’s Motorbass Studio in Paris. The track is accompanied by a charming video directed by Ryder The Eagle.
Talking about the track and video, Alex said:
“Back in October, Clara asked me to join her on stage at the Olympia in Paris, where we first sang ‘Summer Wine’ together. We are both big fans of Lee and Nancy, and enjoyed the interaction that the song allows you. Clara translated the chorus into French, and the performance is bilingual, which really suits the song.”
“When the lockdown started, we decided to record it - more for ourselves than anything else. We wanted to create the atmosphere of an imaginary world away from the confinement we were experiencing. Not that we were unhappy, but the imagination is the greatest medium for escape and adventure. It was recorded at my place in Scotland and mixed by our friends Antoine and Pierre at Motorbass studio in Paris. When we played it to our labels they suggested we release it, so here it is.”
“I loved performing with Clara - she has such a naturally beautiful voice and a fresh perspective. After the lockdown eased off, we got together to film the video with our friends Adrien, Leo, Fiona and Hugo. I love the ideas they had, which suit the mood of the song and reflect our… well, our love of karaoke!”
Alex Kapranos is lead singer of multi-million selling Scottish band Franz Ferdinand who have released five acclaimed studio albums on Domino Recordings since their self-titled debut in 2004. Their career includes the Mercury Prize, a few Brits, an Ivor Novello, MTV awards, GRAMMY nominations etc.
Clara Luciani released her acclaimed double-platinum selling debut album Sainte-Victoire in 2018 and won Female Artist of the year at the 2020 Victoires De La Musique, the French equivalent of the GRAMMYs.

Today, GRAMMY® Award nominated, multi-platinum-selling artist Tove Lo releases the highly anticipated video for “Mateo,” a clear fan-favorite off her critically acclaimed fourth studio album,  Sunshine Kitty . Speaking about the video, Tove reveals, “Since ‘Sunshine Kitty’ was released, ‘Mateo’ has been a fan favorite.  I always knew I wanted to do a visual for it.  We had shot footage for the lyric video at a beautiful venue in Manchester called Albert Hall in early March, right before we had to cancel the European shows and fly home due to COVID.  So much of the last few months has been about what can’t happen, doing the quarantine karaoke challenge was a way to still connect with my fans and give everyone something to safely do while locked down.  I was so overwhelmed by all the submissions, there were just about 1000 and everyone was so fun and creative with it.  I wish the song could be 10 times longer so we could have fit all in!”

Watch this very special video for “Mateo”  HERE .

Yesterday, Tove debuted an exclusive performance of her song “sadder badder cooler,” for CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #PLAYATHOME series. Watch the performance HERE.

Talking about “sadder badder cooler,” Tove Lo details: "Elvira Anderfjärd and I wrote sadder badder cooler after going deep about how every heart break kind of chips away a little piece of you, but it also gives you power if you let it. And how breaking it off with someone who’s bad to you is always a mixed feeling of sadness, anger and big relief. This song to me is full of glitter and power and I hope it hits heavy with my fans.” Listen to “sadder badder cooler”  HERE  and watch the animated video  HERE .

Sunshine Kitty  is a collection of empowered and enigmatic pop gems and features a top-rated cast of collaborators and guests including Kylie MinogueJax Jones, ALMAMC Zaac and Doja Cat. Talking about her experience, Tove gushed, ““It was so cool to be part of the first show in Animal Crossing! I got real hooked on this game while in quarantine, the world is so charming and magical. And while being starved of interaction with my fans and show jitters this was such a great thing to do! I’m so impressed and grateful to Nintentalk for helping make this happen! And my fans made the coolest outfits and an awesome stage!”

MADELINE KENNEY Shares "White Window Light" Live Video

MADELINE KENNEYSHARES “WHITE WINDOW LIGHT” LIVE VIDEO
SUCKER’S LUNCH OUT THIS WEEK VIA CARPARK RECORDS
Oakland, CA artist Madeline Kenney will release her third album Sucker’s Lunch this week, and today she shares a final, breathtaking sneak peek of the record prior to Friday. “White Window Light” features back-up vocals from the album’s co-producers Wye Oak, plus Boy Scouts’ Taylor Vick, Stephen Steinbrink, and Olivia Gerber on the recorded version, and today Kenney shares a stunning live rendition of the song, also featuring Vick and Gerber. Pre-order Sucker’s Lunch now, out this Friday, July 31st via Carpark Records.
"This, to me, is a bonafide love song. It may not come off that way (I'm aware that the first line is "well what's the point"), but that's because I had some hard and weird conversations about love and they wound up as lyrics,” Kenney said about the song. “So many friends sang on the chorus. That made it so special and beautiful to record. I filmed this on a tripod at Starline Social Club in Oakland -- notice our 6 ft triangle of safety. It felt amazing to sing with my friends again."WATCH THE “WHITE WINDOW LIGHT” LIVE VIDEO Madeline Kenney - "White Window Light" (Live at Starline Social Club) While Madeline Kenney’s debut album was produced by Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bear and her second record by Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner, Madeline has enlisted Wasner to produce this record yet again, but this time with Andy Stack (Wye Oak) collaborating as well. The trio carefully co-produced and constructed the songs on Sucker’s Lunch in a few compact sessions in Durham, Oakland and San Francisco, and the album finds Madeline bounding toward the unknown. Throughout the record, she expands on the idea of what a love song could be – a little more cautious than exuberant, more nuanced than blazing devotion. Sonically, Sucker’s Lunch expands upon Kenney’s earlier, guitar-driven sound – a definitive step forward from an artist adept at communicating universal sentiments in a voice unmistakably her own.
“I’m not interested in something easy or immediately apparent,” Kenney says. “My experience writing these songs wasn’t easy, it was painful and difficult. I was terrified of falling in love, and as much as I’d like to write a sticky sweet song for someone, it doesn’t come naturally to me. Instead I wanted to explore the tiny moments; sitting alone in my room guessing what the other person was thinking, spiraling into a maze of logical reasons to bail and finding my way out again. When I spoke with friends about the theme of the ‘idiot’, it became apparent that everyone understood that feeling and was relieved to hear it echoed in someone else.”Thematically, Sucker’s Lunch sees Kenney soberly contrasting the risks and rewards of falling in love, eventually deciding to dive headfirst into her own foolishness and relish in the unknowing. The tracks explore new love from every angle – “Picture of You” is a soundtrack-worthy lamentation of never truly knowing what someone has been through (“growing up is so hard, I don’t know why”) while tender vulnerability shines on “Tell You Everything” (“When your eyes say ‘we’ve had a day, love’, I get to fall in”). “Cut the Real” pairs synth drones with syncopated lyrics to work through a depressive mind state, and the near-devotional “White Window Light” accepts uncertainty as a beautiful gift. Stack and Wasner’s rhythm section trace circles around Kenney’s off-kilter guitar, with verdant curls of synths, saxophone, and complex harmonies. The resulting songs are immediate and deeply moving, somehow feeling familiar while they defy expectations at every turn. Sucker’s Lunch shines in its ability to speak the strange, ambiguous, impossible truth – nothing less than a balanced meal for the wise fool in us all.

It may diverge from Kenny’s debut album, but it’s the mystical sound that she felt compelled to explore in the studio." - Billboard
"Listening to Perfect Shapes is a dream, one that you won’t want to wake up from." - BUST
"An underbelly of guitars, keyboards, and electronics is mixed with upbeat and curious rhythms, shifting around the animated vocals forming songs that are peculiar, rhapsodic, and intellectually stimulating." -Under The Radar

Whether portraying majesty and wonder or heart-wrenching pain, Son Lux’s songs always transport us insidehis richly rendered imagination.” - NPR “Son Lux deconstruct genres with ease and then fuse them back togetherin Frankenstein-esque brilliance." - Paste

HEAR “PLANS WE MADE” ON ALL DSPs“Plans We Made” marks the first single from TOMORROWS, an ambitious, three-volume album set to unfurl over the coming year; TOMORROWS I, the cycle’s masterful first chapter, arrives everywhere via City Slang on Friday, August 14. The track – which features guest vocals from acclaimed singer-songwriter Kadhja Bonet – immediately establishes TOMORROWS’ reverberant approach, its clock-like pulsebeat, sharp stabs, and lashing string sounds expertly conveying the band’s lyrical struggles with inevitability, the arc of time, and the fragility of our best intentions.
Son Lux’s sixth full-length studio LP, TOMORROWS sees the always inventive trio – Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia, and Ian Chang – training their sights on volatile principles: imbalance, disruption, collision, redefinition. But for all of its instability, the project’s exploration of breaking points and sustained frictional places is ultimately in service of something rewarding and necessary – the act of questioning, challenging, tearing down and actively rebuilding one’s own identity.
“We’re peeling things apart and putting them back together throughout this record,” says Lott. “Emotionally, relationally, and musically.”
While the epic and intimate music of TOMORROWS has been in development for the last three years, the album’s lyrical content was written over the last three months, masterfully reflecting the tumultuous energy and paradigm shifts of our current situation. Arriving at a time of considerable uncertainty in the world, TOMORROWS is bold in both its awesome scope and grand intent. With their active, intentional approach to shaping sound, Son Lux once again remind us of the necessity of questioning assumptions, and of sitting with the tension.
“The sound of Son Lux is discovered through a very intentional and deliberate process of experimentation where the end result is often entirely unknown,” says Lott. “We’re constantly exploring and trying out different options. We can’t anticipate what the music will become.”
Hailed by Drowned in Sound for “bringing order to heaps of seemingly chaotic and dissonant sounds, and fashioning melody out of the unorthodox,” Son Lux has operated as something akin to a sonic test kitchen from its very start, ever questioning deeply held assumptions about how music is made and then re-constructing it from a molecular level. The band began as a solo project by Los Angeles-based founder Ryan Lott but expanded in 2014 with the involvement of drummer Ian Chang and guitarist Rafiq Bhatia. The geographically and culturally diverse trio strengthened their chemistry and honed their collective intuition on five acclaimed recordings, including 2015’s BONES and 2018’s BRIGHTER WOUNDS. With each new work, Son Lux has forwarded their uniquely mercurial vision, their brilliantly fluid approach to genre and structure drawing on a genre-agnostic groundwork of soul, hip-hop, and experimental improvisation. Balancing raw emotional intimacy and meticulous electronic constructions, Son Lux have crafted a carefully cultivated musical language all their own, rooted in curiosity, individuality, and commanding creativity.
TOMORROWS marks the first new Son Lux LP since 2018’s BRIGHTER WOUNDS, hailed by Pitchfork for its “searching introspection and dramatic gestures.” “Richly detailed and sonically varied,” declared Slant, “an album that’s grimly effective at conjuring unease.” BRIGHTER WOUNDS is “a kaleidoscopic record ruminating on loss, memory, time, and rebirth, with nods to spiraling chamber pop, skittering electro, fractured R&B, and theatrical synth-rock,” wrote The AV Club, praising the combination of "disparate styles on the same song, which often leads to transcendence.”SON LUXTOMORROWS I(CITY SLANG)RELEASE DATE: AUGUST 14, 20201. Nite Songs releases August 14, via Dowd Records

The Dudes have been busy.

Beautiful Dudes are releasing a limited edition skateboard deck with Lurkville Skateboards and kicking off their first release on Dowd Records with a rocker called “Nite, Nite”.

The Nite, Nite single will only be released on a flexi vinyl record included with each Beautiful Dudes Lurkville Skateboards deck.

Nite, Nite is the first single from the upcoming EP Nite Songs out August 14th on streaming and limited edition denim vinyl.

Nite Songs sees the Dudes embracing rocking riffs and dark melancholy with an uplifting optimism that is the perfect soundtrack for our current times.

The songs, in true Dudes style, are beautiful, timeless and catchy as hell with Tom Bevitori’s vocals finding new and moving ground while the band – with Art Echternacht on bass, Robbie Landsburg on guitar and Zach Peach on drums, take us from epic minimalism to dreamy psychedelic heights full of feedback and swagger.

Beautiful Dudes will also be featured on the upcoming compilation album for the highly acclaimed Nevada City Film Festival out in August with a new song “Beverly Hills” along with live performances and interviews.

To wrap up the summer, they are releasing a live EP in September. You can’t stop rock n’ roll.

We have to mention Nevada City again or the Dudes will be pissed. So… Nevada City. They love it. We love it.
