I'm taking (disappointing) adult vo-tech classes at Onondaga Cortland Madison BOCES that started before the regular school year in a mixed-use facility. This was posted outside one of the classrooms used for public school special ed children.

Dear Loretta

I'm the sad clown who mops the stage after the shows at Turning Stone Casino and Resort, the Indian profit center of Central New York. Loretta Lynn wasn't out after curtain with her Maglite looking for ground scores a couple nights ago, so I got to keep this find from downstage right. Other stagehands' girlfriends got the wilted roses.

The stars really don't care, not the B-listers on the casino circuit, not anymore. Marlene was busy blowing out the candles on her birthday cake and didn't hear Loretta say, "I dedicate this to Marlene," right before singing "When the Tingle Becomes a Chill."

Better Off Alone

I recently read the book Eat, Pray, Love, having checked out the book from my local library. I found the note tucked into the jacket cover. The note struck a chord with me having had a crappy roommate my freshman year in college.

Sooo Fake

A bookmark found in a very-overdue library book. It was one of the "Chicken Soup" books. I'd like to say it was "Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul" but I just don't know for sure.

The Divide

I found this photo in a book I bought at an estate sale in my neighborhood. After finding the picture, I went back to the sale to see if there were any others shots like this, but there were only the usual family photos. All I could find out about the family was that they were Greek/American. I've often wondered if they ran a Greek diner in a black neighborhood when they first moved to the U.S. I've also wondered why the picture was put away in the book. But mostly I've wondered about what it was like for the men on both sides of the clear dividing line of that counter.
