Insane World

Yesterday my daughter and I were at the local mall. We were eating in the mall part right outside of Nordstroms. Suddenly the Nordstrom gate went down, so did the gate for the coffee shop. We didn’t know what was going on. We figured it was electrical or something. We ate and continued walking towards another store at the end of the floor. Most of the store doors were closed. When we got where we were going, we went inside and asked if they were open? They said yes, come in. We asked what was going on – Two men stole watches from Tourneau – and they locked down the stores. And my daughter and I were blissfully eating, then shopping, unaware. Is that OK? For the mall to have the stores shut their doors but the shoppers are left out to fend for themselves. REALLY!?

Scents!

A funny story – Bailey loves her Thundershirt. She needs it for anxiety and when I go to take it off, she backs away from me. Like no, don’t take it away! I actually think she doesn’t like the Velcro sound when I take it off. But I prefer to pretend she just likes her jacket. LOL

Anyway, back to the day’s problem. I live in a house with 2 dogs, as you well know. I really need air fresheners because I’m starting to smell dog. Not something that makes me happy. I love how my dogs smell, but dog smell in the house is totally different. I’m guessing another pet owner would know what I mean.

The problem is I’m fussy about what I want to smell in my home. Perfume gives me a headache / migraine. I lean towards Vanilla. I have tried various things:

Glade Plug Ins for one – and although they work if I put two into the kitchen which is the only area I have an issue (where the crates are) or by the front door just because I like it – it works for a short time. But they run out FAST. And they’re hard to find. Even online.

My husband has brought home these flat Citrus based scent … things. I don’t have the brand but they didn’t work.

I spent too much money on Bath and Body Works Plug-Ins. They swore they would work. I couldn’t even smell a HINT of them.

Last night at Bed Bath and Beyond we found these – SMELLS BE GONE Pet Odor Absorber Citrus Air Freshener 15 oz jars. I liked the smell when I set them up … we’ll see if they work. what’s funny is that they were one of those things set by the register for an impulse buy – we bought in LOL!

I don’t want candles (flames/anything that burns or I have to watch/worry about). So what do you all suggest for a good smelling house? If you have ideas, I would love LINKS too! Thanks!

Rain!

Sorry! Went out for dinner with friends last night and I guess I got distracted so … late blog! It is POURING here in NY. I mean torrential flooding rain. I have to tell you guys, I HATE rain. On the other hand, I love snow. I loved being snowed in, no school in the mornings, white fluffy stuff outside. I don’t know if it’s because of the hair thing in the rain … well can’t be because snow is water and does the same icky thing to hair. Couldn’t tell you why. You guys? Love rainy days? Hate rainy days?

Depression – RIP Robin Williams

There is nothing else to talk about today except this. Earlier this afternoon, the world lost Robin Williams, a brilliant comedian, a man who brought humor and love to all, but most importantly his family lost someone who mattered greatly to them. Who they loved. We’ll never know why things played out as they did but the news said Robin Williams had been struggling with depression recently. I’m so sad about his death, but knowing people come here to this blog, I feel I need to use this space to remind people: YOU DON’T NEED TO SUFFER ALONE. And I’m posting tonight instead of waiting until tomorrow morning like I usually do.

Back in March 2014, I posted a blog called THE TRUTH about my own struggles with depression. You can click on the link to read it. As I look back at that blog, I realize I hid that truth behind the title. You had to read it to know what it was about. Today I want people to know there is someplace to call if you are depressed, lonely, need someone to hear you, to LISTEN.

I’m HOME!

And other than picking up my baby from her summer session at PENN STATE, I’m STAYING HOME for a good long while. Forgive me that today’s post isn’t much. I’m getting myself resettled. I want to write. I want to chill. I LOVE BEING HOME. Are you a homebody like me?
