I finally want to read The Spanish Love Deception!

Thanks for asking!
I JUST released Book 2 in the Misty Springs small town romance series, which is very dear to my heart. It's called 'Finding Love'.

Goodness, what an interesting question! I usually have at least a vague idea of what each book in the series should be about. Then I take notes on the character arcs that would make sense and on how each of those protagonists or settings or themes could be interconnected. But I'm not a total plotter.

Maybe I lead a secret double life? Maybe beneath the innocent, demure, introverted exterior, there lives a woman with a dark past and secret witchcraft powers?

Thank you. So far, there are the 3 books of the "FIRE Trilogy". I have started on the first book of the "WATER Trilogy", which will also be paranormal romance. And I have written a few paranormal short stories which can be found on my website http://www.devikafernando.com/blog.html

I think e-books are the future. I'm not saying paperbacks are going to die out completely, but e-books are already playing a huge part all over the world, and as they are easier for authors and writers, I'm sure they'll become even more popular.

First of all, thanks so much for the high praise that I can only return!
I usually write my first draft in one go and then let it rest for some weeks before revising and editing. Sometimes I take a break because a different story might be more important / urgent. In that case I end up rereading and changing the story before I dive into it again.

Thank you very much, Adite!
As a reader, I've always been drawn to books that had some element of mystery, supernatural, magic or horror to them. Soaking all that up has fuelled my curiosity and made me want to try my hand at it. In that sense, it wasn't really difficult. The only thing that made it more challenging than contemporary romance was balancing the paranormal action and the romance. Both needs to hook the reader, whereas there is less to master when you concentrate only on the love story as I did in "When I see your Face".

"Playing with Fire" was my first attempt at paranormal romance. While all the paranormal or supernatural elements were easy to write, it was a bit difficult to keep the right balance between the action, the romance and the internal changes the heroine went through. I hope I've juggled it well...

I work as a content writer and an author, so I am basically writing all day. If you take out the breaks and 'normal life', I spend about 7 or more hours each day writing. When I'm very busy, only 1 of these will be reserved for my books. On more flexible days, I have up to 3 or 4 hours that I can use for working on my novels.

That's a great question! Unlike some other authors, I write series where each book can be read as a stand-alone with separate characters and a happy end. That makes it easier to coordinate and write. There's no logical sequence and no need to tie up loose ends or arrange the pieces in a puzzle.
With my "4 Elements of Love" series, I have all four books planned out (plot, blurb and rough characterization) and can't wait to write them all. With my "Romance Round the World Series" focusing on stories set in different countries, I am writing on one (Sri Lanka), thinking of the next (Germany) and leaving the rest open...

Luckily, I never suffer from writer's block. Whenever I might be not in the mood or the going gets tough, I try to read something great or to use writing prompts.

Creating worlds and characters, entertaining readers - and just writing. I couldn't live without writing.

Read, read, read - and write, write, write!
There's so much to learn by reading, and if you don't write, you won't get anywhere, let alone better.

I have two works in progress: I am writing on "In Deep Water" (4 Elements of Love, Book 2), which is another paranormal romance, and I am working on "Saved in Sri Lanka" (Romance Round the World, Book 1), a contemporary romance novel.

Seriously, everything and everyone can serve as inspiration. What works best are visual prompts - and just sitting down to look into my idea-crowded brain and see what might demand my attention.

I was inspired by a wonderful work of art on deviantart.com and the story was suddenly writing itself in my head.
