Angela Grey is an Indigenous novelist, poet, and painter whose work explores the intersections of memory, identity, and healing. She, formerly an architectural drafter, studied creative writing, as well as spirituality and healing, at the University of Minnesota, where she deepened her commitment to storytelling as both an art and a form of medicine. Alongside her writing, Angela finds balance in yoga and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), which shape the reflective quality of her work. She lives in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, with her husband, one spirited pup, and four cats. When she’s not writing, she enjoys camping, budget travel to places like Maine, Oregon, and the coastal Carolinas, and gathering with family around a BBQ grill.

When the Terror in My Mind Has to Go Somewhere: Writing the Phone Anxiety Thriller Series

There are books I write because I’ve a story to tell. And then there are books I write because the story will not leave me alone. My Phone Anxiety Thriller series has become the latter. What began with the idea of turning something deeply uncomfortable, the fear and dread surrounding telephone comm

I think it's both. Certain places seem to hold an emotional memory of what happened there. A house, a lake, a hospital corridor, or a small town can feel different after it's witnessed grief, love, betrayal, or loss. Even when nothing visible remains See Full Answer

“Those who hear not the music think the dancers mad.”
Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra

“Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.”
Edgar Allan Poe, Eleonora

“They are more real than the books on the shelves, books that are sketched with the barest hint of a line here and there, fading in places to a ghostly nothingness. Why recall the picture now, you must be wondering. The reason I remember it so well is that it seems to be an image of the way I have lived my own life. I have closed my study door on the world and shut myself away with people of my imagination.”
Diane Setterfield, The Thirteenth Tale

“I made a resolution to telephone my mother the next day, but it was a safe resolution; no one can hold you to a decision made in middle of the night. And then my spine sent me an alarm. A presence. Here. Now. At my side.”
Diane Setterfield, The Thirteenth Tale

“Why should you believe your eyes? You were given eyes to see with, not to believe with. Your eyes can see the mirage, the hallucination as easily as the actual scenery.”
Ward Moore, Bring the Jubilee
