My intentions were innocent though, so it simply didn’t occur to me that I might be doing the wrong thing.

It was a prop for a drama performance and instead of buying a fake knife, I just grabbed on

“A therapist had once told him that the key to dealing with his panic attacks lay in reconnecting with his old circle of friends. Facing them. Seeing their injuries and realising that wasn’t what defined them. Talking with them about the people they all still desperately missed. Accepting that, somehow, he’d been lucky that night, but that it wasn’t his fault and that it wasn’t divine intervention. It wasn’t about who did or didn’t ‘deserve’ it. No one deserved to be caught up in a tragedy of that magnitude. And no one blamed him for not being there.”
― Nicola Moriarty, Every Last Suspect

“Or maybe it has nothing to do with anyone else’s actions that night, Malek. It was just pure luck that you left when you did and it’s no one’s fault, and no one deserved to live or die. It just . . . happened.”
― Nicola Moriarty, Every Last Suspect

“mind: Even if, technically speaking, I’m betraying her – every day I betray her. But I don’t mean to.”
― Nicola Moriarty, Those Other Women
