I like to write sexy up to a point, and then we close the door. I've gotten overwhelmingly positive notes from readers about this; they like the fact that their teenage daughter or grandmother can read the books comfortably. Once, though, I got a note urging me to go a little further with the love scenes. She said, "I'm 87 years old and have to get my jollies somehow." I loved that!(less)

Is it that I’m becoming a delightful curmudgeon, a la the Dowager Countess of Downton Abbey? Am I just crotchety and not at all delightful? At any rate here are a few things I think we’ve all discussed plenty.

The Kennedy Assassination. Listen. It was a tragedy, of course. Did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone? Guess what? We’ll never know, will we? The bloody pink dress Jackie

“I had to get over [him]. For months now, a stone had been sitting on my heart. I'd shed a lot of tears over [him], lost a lot of sleep, eaten a lot of cake batter. Somehow, I had to move on. [Life] would be hell if I didn't shake loose from the grip he had on my heart. I most definitely didn't want to keep feeling this way, alone in a love affair meant for two. Even if he'd felt like The One. Even if I'd always thought we'd end up together. Even if he still had a choke chain on my heart.”
Kristan Higgins, All I Ever Wanted

“You asked why I couldn't forgive you," Nick said, very quietly, and I jumped a little. "It was because you were the love of my life, Harper. And you didn't want to be. That's hard to let go.”
Kristan Higgins, My One and Only

“I'll tell you something, Harpy," he said, his voice almost a whisper now. "It never even occurred to me that we wouldn't make it. And it never occurred to you that we would. You were just waiting for us to go down in flames. I thought we could get through anything.”

message 2: by Cathy

Cathy Just finished "Life and Other Inconveniences." I had a marathon reading weekend — eight books and six naps. Heaven. Probably should have been a little more productive, but ... hey. It is has been a long year. Awesome characters who drove a wonderfully rich story. This was a book that pulled me in and held me tight for the duration, making me care more and more about the relationships and the outcome as I read. That is what I love about your books, the more I invest, the more I get. Your gift is truly amazing. Thank you for taking the time to craft these stories and develop the characters that become friends.

Sharon Thank you for accepting my friend request! I think you are a brilliant author who writes sweet, thought-provoking stories. I just finished your Blue Heron series, and I absolutely adore your characters who are hilarious and show so much depth. My personal favorite is Emmaline because she is relatable, funny, tough, and truly kind. She just has her priorities sorted out and handles situations rather well with her resilience and good intentions. She is literally one of my favorite heroines ever because she is a bit on the kickass side, and I appreciate you for incorporating Angela, too, because she is so supportive and awesome.

Thank you for writing these great stories and characters! :)
