“And where were you when my mate was
shooting ferals with a damn sniper rifle?" he demanded, exhaustion adding a bite to his words.
Ryuu gave him a flat look. "Holding her ammunition.”

“Why is it that the Alpha females are crazy?"
Meryn shrugged. "She made sense to me."
Colton turned to Meryn. "You also set Aiden's car on fire when he ignored you."
Amelia looked at Meryn. "Sounds reasonable."
Meryn grinned. "I know, right?”

“Shoot faceless, white blobs. Roger that Menace, Gamma Kitten One over and out.”

“Colton cleared his throat. "I'm no expert on spirits and the occult, but this is Keelan we're talking about. If by some miracle his soul did find it's way back to the Alpha Estate, Voodoo Meryn with a Ouija board doing incantations would scare him back the way he came.”

“Caiden walked back over and placed his hands on her shoulders, concern on his face. "Are you okay? Did he do anything weird to you?"

Amelia thought about it for a second. "He put his thing in me."

All four men froze.

The air around Caiden began to spark and crackle. "He did what?" he asked, his voice sounding odd and strained.

"He put his light in my heart, that way, he can find me later," she explained. She looked around confused when the men seemed to slump forward in relief. "What?" she asked.

"Nothing, baby." Caiden scooped her up and sat down with her on his lap. "I can't do this. She can never mate." He let out a long breath and cuddled her close. Kyran and Tristan sat back down in their chairs and rested their heads on the table.

Kendrick's smile was wicked as he stood. "Makes me eternally grateful I have a brother."

Behind her, she felt Caiden laugh. "As if you're any less protective of Keelan than we are of Amelia?”

“We heard you were bringing in precious cargo," Ben said to Lorcan.

"Amelia needs Quinn, and Keelan... I don't think anything can be done for him. But I promised Aiden we'd try," Lorcan said.

The blond pulled out a walkie-talkie. "Gamma Kitten One, this is Adonis, have Foxy Boy on standby to receive Big Sister-Cousin, over."

"I really fucking hate that you got Adonis and I got Gamma Kitten One!" a male voice complained.

"Take it up with management," the blond said flippantly. "Over and out."

"Ben, who's Foxy Boy?" Lorcan asked as they ran.

"Quinn, that's the name Meryn gave him because his last name Foxglove."

"Gods, I can't imagine the call sign she's given me," Lorcan said.

"Lorelei," Ben said with a grin.

Lorcan grimaced. "I had to ask.”

“Who's Adelaide?"

"She's Aiden's mom. Her squire, Marius, makes the best cake I have ever eaten." Meryn patted her belly.

Gavriel sat forward. "You're driving?"

Beth shook her head. "We were going to walk."

He paled. "But, it is a thirty-minute walk. There are animals and branches, and exposed roots." Gavriel's eyes looked a bit wild.

Beth placed a comforting hand on his arm. "I'll be fine."

"Yeah, if they get into trouble, Meryn can always come back here to tell us Beth has fallen down the well," Colton joked.

"What the fuck am I? Lassie? You're the dog," Meryn shot back.

"I'm not a dog!" Colton protested.

Gavriel turned to Aiden. "Are there wells?"

Laughing, Beth shook her head. "Fine, we'll drive.”

“See this sign. It is red. Red is the universal color to stop. Are you color blind? No? Well, even if you were, there are four large, bright white letters on this sign that spell out the word 'stop'. Let's go over them, shall we?" "S." Bang! "T." Bang! "O." Bang! "P." Bang!”

“Ryuu stepped forward. "When you get to the estate let me know, I will do all I can to help."

Aiden looked at the squire with a sour expression. "And where were you when my mate was shooting ferals with a damn sniper rifle?" he demanded, exhaustion adding a bite to his words.

Ryuu gave him a flat look. "Holding her ammunition."

Aiden growled again in frustration. "Let's go home!”
