It wasn't hard for me to develop the book outline, because the book is based on my signature method which I'd been developing/refining for years.

It helped to dedicate an intern to help me develop the book proposal.

At one point my friend Zofia actually paid me for each chapter I wrote (I'm paying her back from my advance/royalties.)

Having a writing buddy helped me stay on track as did reducing the number of clients I took on to free up time.

To meet the manuscript deadline, we went to a cabin on a beach, where I wrote nonstop, only coming out for meals. My husband was incredibly patient. When I finished, we treated a room full of fellow diners to a champagne toast to celebrate! I know this is an expensive strategy, but I was desperate!

Actually, I dont think of myself as an author, I think of myself as a coach and consultant who's written a book to document my signature method.

That said, the best part about this was knowing my mother, a columnist, would have proud of me if she were still alive.
