I have tried several times to get into this book, but between the sentence fragments (seriously, editor, where were you?) and the annoying words I don't know and don't have a glossary for (Domnuathi-anyone? what is this?) I think I'll table this for a bit.

"Oh my look at the time. I have to get back." bit modern there- I'm sure there's a decent story buried in here beneath the too-modern sounding bits, and the overly old-fashioned sounding bits.

Well now that's just not believable at all.

"If he rose. Walked around. Perhaps that would help. He fought to stand." the whole book is written like this-full of sentence fragments and short sentences. Have we never heard of the comma? It's super handy and useful.

this is a book where I want to call out the editor and yell "WTH? Did you fail basic grammar?"

"She was saying what she thought she was saying." awkward sentence, that. I hope this one improves...

random question: would a girl in 1815 know about bombs? like "it felt like she was holding a bomb in her hand and it would go off any minute." That doesn't seem like a normal thought for the early 1800s

"Would the wards that kept him alive and untouchable unravel within the sea god Lir's cold fathoms, bringing the solace he craved?" Uh oh...emo hero, dead ahead

Laurie Garrison I couldnt for the life of me get into this one. I sent it to wild about bones hoping her barin can grab it.. I agree this series needs a glossary in a very bad way...

message 2: by Laura (new) - added it

Laura glad to know it's not just me. I'll force myself through it since my unpaid intern is busy at the moment (lol-Leah is who I've used in the past), but I don't want to. Is that sad that after 20 pages I'm ready to give up?

I'll push through and hope for the best, right?
