A very optimistic view of humanity, I must say. I hope and pray...

Still plugging away. I like this book of Teilhard's the least in that it seems to make too many assumptions and leaps to conclusions that current society has proven wrong. So I find his overly optimistic views a bit depressing. It all comes down to free will in each human heart. And no one can accurately predict the future...

Wonderful enthusiasm mixed with a lack of insight into the inherent evil possible in humanity. Surprising from someone who saw WWI and WWII first hand.

I am fascinated by Theilhard's hopes and dreams for the human race, even as I realize that he seems to have left out the whole problem of sin, spiritual death, and the possibility of hell.

Teilhard continues to see the upward spiral of humanity in an ever brighter light. Amazingly, he reflected an optimism of his age that looked beyond world wars and devastation to a whole, happier human future.

I am reading this book and thinking all the time, what would Teilhard say about us if he could see our world today? His predicted future was very bright—almost Star Trek-like where we all join in the Prime Directive. It's interesting to see what he thought then. Makes me wonder—how far have we, as a human race, come?

I am pleased that Teilhard de Chardin is so optimistic. Considering what he had to live through—the deaths of so many loved ones and WWI, he had to have a strong inner core supported by something beyond this challenging world.

Interesting thoughts on powerful concepts. What does it mean to be fully human? I need to keep reading...

I've just started this book, but I am already intrigued by the premise—that humanity is called to a higher state of being. If only we'd answer affirmatively. I'm very interested in Teilhard de Chardin's views on this concept.
