The Dragon pearl is a character driven story. I know this because Min (a fox spirit) wants to find her brother, who was reported as a deserter in the space forces, but is dragged into her aunt's cassino, then onto a spaceship and learns about how to fly but is then attacked, then she is thrown into pretending to be a dead space cadet while his ghost tells her how to do things so he can find out who killed him.

The ghost Cadet is a flat character while Min is a round character. The Cadet is a flat character because all we know about him is that he wants to know more about who killed him. While Min wants to find her brother, but is also stuck on a ship pretending to be the Ghost Cadet so she doesn't get in trouble.

I believe that Min's Aunt is an unsympathetic character. I think this because of how she acts; manipulating Min by bringing in her mother and how she left her, how she practically forces Min to work for her. Min's aunt is (in my opinion) one of the most unsympathetic characters in the book so far.

Some Questions I asked myself while reading (and some answers). "Why did she almost immediately trust her aunt?" Probably because Min smelt her kin or family's scent off of her aunt's charm. "Was it really a good idea to tell Captain Hyes crew the white lie?" I think so because most of it was true except for the part of her getting to go with the crew, she did tell them that Hye was kidnapped.

I think, from the passage on the back and the cover, that the book will be about Min joining the space force. from the cover I think she'll have a wolf, or fox spirit thingy following her around. So I believe Min will join the space forces and have a spirit following her or guiding her.
