The MC believes the opening sequence was a dream. I'm in two minds about this: Either she is an unreliable narrator, or I have just been handed on a platter one of the things I despise most in fiction.

I don't normally say this, because I usually can't tell, but the dialogue feels forced. The way they are speaking seems really unnatural. I would give an example but I'm on my phone reading an ebook. Maybe in the review, if I write one.

Not sure this is my cup of tea. I don't like Kylah much at the moment because she reacts weirdly to dangerous situations and the biggest question no one is answering is WHY.
