The themes of this book and the one I have read before are fairly different. In the book The Grim Grotto, the theme is that there are secrets too terrible to know, and the theme of the current book I am reading is that you should cherish and protect places that are significant to you.

The relationship between the protagonists and the antagonist are that the protagonists, Kendra and Seth and their ancestors were a part of an organization called the knights of the dawn, who want to stop a formless entity called the sphinx, who was imprisoned by the knights with some other demons, and he resolves to free them. Seth and Kendra want to stop him mostly because he killed most of their friends.
