How dreadful, Lisa ! This happened to me once and I was positively furious. Are you going to try to find another copy? And were you enjoying the book?

And were you enjoying the book?"I was able to trade it for a complete copy on Sunday - whew! I am enjoying it! I'm not sure I'm agreeing with his writing style all the time -- for instance, I'm over halfway through the book and he just now introduced the Night Walkers, which seem like very important characters to me! lol! Never the less, I really do like the book and I appreciate reading about a fantasy world that is different from a lot of the other ones out there! Thank you, thank you for the suggestion!
Ooops, can't remember who the Night Walkers are. I guess I need to reread the book. :)
