i will finish this book this week even if it kills me

my biggest recommendation for this book right now is to NOT go into it blind like i did.

"He thought about his people without sentimentality, with a strict closing accounts with life, beginning to understand how much he really loved the people he hated most."

honestly i didn't like Arcadio, but something about his death means a lot to me.

time moves so quickly in this book it's hard to keep up. i keep having to look up what happened to some past characters to be sure that i haven't missed anything.

really, i hope this story is worth it. it's nice to read and magical and alluring, but i kinda wish to be gripped by the plot a bit more. it feels like things happen and then they stop happening, then they happen, then they stop etc etc etc
