Borrowing from so many great writers and woven with a fair amount of cleverness. It is redeeming its slow start.

And just like that…SNAP! The little girl is the adult in the room, and the adult male is the drinking, brawling caretaker. Hmmm….

Hmmm, took 20% into the book and finally were in the heat, getting to the crux of the matter. Up until now, the voice I heard reading this book in my head is Sly Stallone, funny but true, driven (I’m sure) by the tone of Rosson’s writing style. Grizzled and graveled seems appropriate.
