I can understand why so many give up on this book in the beginning. It is SLOW. But the best is yet to come!!

Hold up. Is the guy Frank saw Jamie? What book did Jamie go forward in time? I'm missing something.

I can't believe I'm doing this but I really miss Jamie. I love this story and well, I've decided to listen to the audiobook again. I almost never re-read books, there are too many great ones to be uncovered to waste time re-reading. However, this series is something special.

I swear Jamie is going to kill me. What happens to him towards the end, I was boohooing so much, I couldn't even see right!

I'm going to end two very large books at practically the same time. This book will go down as one of my all time favorites and it is not even over yet.

oh my, i don't even know where to begin. Jamie, I love Jamie but since I've already made that crystal clear, let me tell how happy I am that Claire decided to stay. I'm always so on edge w/ this book!

I'm leaving for Scottsdale AZ in the morning. Yes, I have been informed that Ms. Gabaldon lives in Scottsdale but rest assured, that is not my reason for traveling there (unless she happens to have the real life Scot that Jamie was modeled after in her house). I'm not THAT obsessed!................yet! Just kidding!

Today, I tried to come back to reality but w/ no such luck. I want Jamie! He has to be the best male hero out there, hands down! I'm not even through this book and I'd vote for him!

Oh I love Jamie. He makes the boring beginning worth it. I still can't believe I'm re-reading this since I normally never reread a book! Oh well...knowing what WILL happen makes it even better the 2nd time around!

I've re-read this book many times, but sometimes I *gulp* skip the beginning. I know, it's a despicable act, but...Before the time travel? There was no Jamie! And there was Frank and a loooot of talking and picking flowers and sightseeing...*sigh*

hahha...and you wonder why people give up before page 100! Yeah, I can remember when I first read this and the only thing I kept thinking was WTF! Now, I'm curious to see what I missed the first time around.

Mimi Smith Well, I guess I do understand a bit. BUT there's such a great book waiting for them and that they've abandoned, I feel kind of...frustrated, they didn't stick it out. Especially when it's someone I think would really love the book, and is missing out on something great. Like my sister, who gave up on it pretty soon.*sigh*

Catherine I ended up DNF'ing this one years ago. I know it's got a huge fan base, but I could never get into it. I hope you enjoy your reread!

I stopped THREE times. I really thought the beginning was horrible and I could not understand the appeal. It was someone's review...I can't remember who's review, but it was their review that made me continue on my 4th attempt. I then never stopped. I literally swept through the next 7 books in 6 months.

Sure, I had some issues with Jamie and some of the stuff he did. I also thought Claire could be a bit bitchy at the beginning. But, and this is a big but, I highly doubt that any other series will ever even come close to this series in my absolute love for these books.

oh I wish you would give the book another try. I do understand though. Trust me, I almost gave up on this book.

Oh man, 3 DNF's! You're a brave lady to to go for a 4th. I'm glad you were finally able to get into it. And to have it turn into a favorite to boot!

I honestly doubt it'll be one I try again, but I suppose I could change my mind one day.
