Leslie’s formula for meditating and praying in the psalms is simple, yet so profound!
Understand the historical and theological context
Preserve the theology of the psalm
Write and speak into and out of the psalm to illustrate, witness, and respond to the truths of God‘s word, not to alter them.

The path of relearning prayer is a journey into deeper love; into deeper attachment to God! Ch 1

This book brings the psalms alive, makes them real & relevant for today. I love how Leslie guides us through making these our own prayers of praise & lament.

This book is meant to be a companion to flesh out the Ignatian exercises (ignatianjourney.com. But it is also an excellent book in its own right, rich and full of reflections on the virtues necessary to become more like Christ such as humility, gratitude, reverence & forgiveness. Thorough explanations backed up by scripture.

The writing is good, but the jury is out on how much I will like this book. It is slow at times.....

Really enjoying this book! Beth's writing is very nice. You buy into the characters and there's a nice tension that begins early on, making me eager to get back to reading again quickly!

Struggling a little. Lauren's journal style of writing is to me, choppy and disjointed, as stream of consciousness can be, but hers, without any poetic flow to keep me involved. I thought I would love this, as it is very close to my story, but, I am feeling a lack of soul in her writing. Maybe her journey now, looking back, would produce more introspection, instead of just a list of facts and random thoughts.

Just starting ch 8. Last 2 chapters to go. We are doing this book together in a small group study and it has been very rich. Each chapter affects the women differently. We all struggle with different false narratives of Jesus, and some chapters affect some more than others. it is very insightful to hear each discuss their issues and moves us to reassess if that's a part of our story that we just didn't realize!
