Been an interesting experience, reading this and watching the first series of the TV show on Netflix at the same time...

Nailed on 5-star.
Possibly the best thing I've read all year :-)

Midway through a WW2-era baseball book, I've just read a scene about Frankenstein's monster masturbating over walrus sex... #wftjusthappened

There are some books that you can tell from just the synopsis that you will love. I put this one off for a while, because there was other stuff I promised myself I would read first - but now that I'm here, I'm enjoying it every bit as much as expected :-)

NEWSFLASH: I got a promotion at work today! - but instead of going out to celebrate, I'm at home on my own working on my novel.

Still enjoying this series - it's not breathtaking, but it's fun and solidly put together.

It's easy to see why this has been so popular - so accessible and addictive. A proper 'one more page' book :-)

A lot of people think the series goes downhill with Xeno and drops of a cliff with CotM - but I'm clearly in the other camp because I gave Xeno 5-stars and am thoroughly enjoying this one too :-)

This is getting the highest accolade I can give: this is the kind of book I wish I could write!

Oh sweet Jesus, why is the goodreads kindle app so bad?! Its even worse than the mobile app... you'd think amazon could afford a good dev team...

It took a hundred pages or so to get me, but I'm enjoying this one quite a bit now :-)
I don't know why I doubted Butcher - I love his Dreseden File - but it took a little while for the new world/characters to shine.

Alright, it's picking up some momentum now =D

It's an enhanced e-book with click in extras like maps, character profiles and bonus short stories, etc - should be perfect for test-driving my new kindle fire (xmas present)

It's been a while since I've read Alastair Reynolds and so far I'm enjoying this more than expected :-)

Very pleasantly surprised so far - the cover is naff, the summary sounds naff, but it's good!

Very readable, but I'm still looking forward to finishing this one...

I like the stories about great Uncle Oswald best =D

OK - it got better! Some of the 4th-wall narrative still grates, but generally it's a good story.

So far I'd say it's better than Volume One - the stores are more aggressive and the twists have more bite to them... I wouldn't say I love it, but I'm not bored either...

So far... not my favourite award winner...

Before I started, I'd seen a few mixed reviews. I tried not to read too much (for fear of spoilers) but I caught the general gist that some readers were disappointed - that it was beautiful but didn't go anywhere.
But so far... I love it!

Reminds me of Last Call by Tim Powers... but I'm not quite sure why...
