I think the villain is obvious at this point

I don't need it to be great, I'm perfectly fine with ok considering how many disappointing paranormal romance I find

Very unsure about the rating, it’s gonna be a tough choice

I maintain my opinion, really like the main story, the one about the old lady, so beautiful, tragic but beautiful, also like the mc,but the romance is just ok,don't feel it

1. Liking it, this is not a romance book tho, it needs to be said
2. I’m probably in the minority here but I enjoy and find way more interesting and compelling the old lady family history than the romance, cute but forgettable and barely there

I love that it starts with them being such good friends

Loneliness is like a big, empty room inside you that echoes with the sounds of the life you’re not living. So you fill it with stuff, work, friends, pets,and over the years it becomes bearable, then comfortable. And after many years it’s so safe and warm it becomes the new normal. And the worst part is, it’s so full of fake comforts, there’s no room for anyone else.

You want me in ways you’ve never desired any other man, and that has you fucking terrified. You want me exactly the same way I want you.”

”Why aren’t you out tonight with some client?”
“I’m not seeing clients right now.”
“Because?”

Liking it a lot

I’m liking the book a lot but this scene had the one trope that gives me so much second hand embarrassment and cringe I could barely read. Please lets move on and get back to the good

“I don’t deny that you’re attractive.”
“Really? Tell me more.”
“You’re okay to look at.”
“Uh huh.”
“And I guess your accent doesn’t suck.”
“I see.”
Our heads are getting way too close.
“And you’re not really ... boring, or anything.”

This is one cliché after another but it’s ok I’m fine with it

‘You’re in love with me,’ she repeated.
‘Yes,’ he said, grabbing her hand and setting it to his scars. ‘You feel it here, Embers. You have since that day on the battlefield. It’s you. Furies save me, it’s always been you.’

I think I might stop here on this peak of happiness and finish it tomorrow since I know heartbreak is coming

Taking a small break from the best book of the year so far (because I want and don’t want to finish it) to start this. Based on the pages read it’s not my thing. I’m gonna skim through it.

He laughed at that, joy spilling through his chest. ‘You’re it for me. I’ve just been waiting for you to catch up.’

‘You didn’t want me,’ she murmured. ‘It’s alright. I don’t blame you... Nobody wants a broken thing.’
‘You’re not broken’ he told her hoarsely. ‘Not even close, Embers.”
“There’s something wrong with me. Like all the rest said.’
Torj’s heart broke, then, at just how much pain Wren carried with her. ‘Only a fool would look at you and see anything less than perfection.”

He lost himself in her, in her taste, in the way her body responded beneath his, pulling him closer, demanding more. He would give her everything. There had never been any question of that

A kiss that’s like what, 7 years in the making… at last! And then angst again.
This book is my new addiction 😍 6 stars hands down

‘I don’t know,’ he said, reaching for her hand. He drew it up to the broad plane of his chest and placed her palm over where she knew those lightning-shaped scars marked his inked skin. ‘But I feel it. Here.’
She felt his heart pounding beneath her touch, ‘I did that to you . . .’
‘You did it for me. Without you, I wouldn’t be here.”

‘Tell me these aren’t what I think they are,’ he murmured in disbelief, his eyes roaming over the other damning trophies concealed within.
‘They’re not what you think they are,’ Wren replied flatly.

When he finds her murder trophies 😂

Torj’s rage suddenly matched hers. He crossed the room in seconds. ‘He wasn’t a man.’
Wren’s eyes narrowed as she glared up at him. ‘No? You’re suddenly an expert?’
Torj gave a dark laugh. ‘If you need a comparison between a boy and a man, I can definitely help with that.’

This two go from heartbreaking angst to scorching chemistry like its their damn job

He wanted her, desperately, like a dying man longing for a cure.
But Elwren Embervale had taken her heart off the table.
