A constant theme that has emerged from the book is greed. Kino has come from a caring person to a monstrous man who is full of it. The Pearl was originally supposed to allow Kino and Juana to start an improved life. However, it has done the complete opposite. It has burned down their house, destroyed their canoe, and has made Kino a murderer. It shows that fortunate events can make people do unbelievable actions.

I am very scared of what will happen next as Pierrot, a young boy my age, is living in the mansion where Adolf Hitler lives. His only relative alive is his aunt, who works as a maid there. I recently watched an interview on YouTube from a maid at Hitlers house. They exclaimed as young girls that they didn't have any idea what Hitler was actually doing and who he really was. When the war was over, they knew the truth.

8 jewish people have been hiding in the secret Annexe for 1 year now. Anne puts in entries about her daily life. She communicates in a very clear way in this diary. When I read this book, I feel as if I’m there with her, experiencing what she does. I think that based on Annes description of the Annexe, their living conditions aren’t that bad. They have food, the children have education and they have clean water.

The book so far has been really entertaining and attention grabbing. Eadlyn's mom has had a heart attack and has been recovering quite well. The king, (Eadlyn's dad) has stayed next to the queen therefore temporarily handing his crown over to Eadlyn. She has now so many more duties then she think she would've had and not only that, she also has to run a selection on her own. I am very excited to read this book.

I'm really enjoying this book even though I haven't finished it yet. This is a fiction book and it is the 4th book in the selection series. The main character, Eadlyn, is a very independent person and wishes to rule by herself, but her parents are making her go through the selection process to find a husband to rule with her. I felt like I was in the story when I read it and I think that the author did a great job.
