Currently, the book is mildly interesting. I can't really keep track of all 10 characters that exist, which kinda makes hard for me to read. After reading several pages of the book, I feel like the book is actually getting much more interesting than the beginning. I just hope this book isn't as boring as some of the previous books I read.

The book wasn't as good as I thought it would be at the moment. The start is confusing. The start doesn't have action. Right now, the book is about his childhood in a zoo, talking about "Pi's" philosophy of what freedom is to animals, and events that happened in the zoo. The movie, so far, seems much more superior, since the beginning isn't confusing.

Later on this book, I feel like there is an interesting turn; instead of abandoning his cat like the original plan, the cat is now the main reason why the protagonist gets money. Because of this, the theme of this book is about karma, because the protagonist helped recover the cat, and now the cat is kind of doing it's part in paying back by giving the protagonist company, and helping him get money.

The theme of this book is about the power of friendship. James, the protagonist, is a homeless person that makes 20 pounds a day, which is not a lot. Ever since he found Bob in his apartment hallway, James tried to treat some of Bob's wounds, with his money. After this, Bob started trusting James. In my opinion, the reward Bob gave to James, is making him money, by people liking James' cat, which makes people donate.

A very common theme within this book is the theme of greed, and how it can change peoples lives. Kino became rich ever since he got the pearl, and everyone in town hates him, because of a valuable pearl. Kino has also become greedy, because of all of the things the pearl did to him; making everyone in town hate him, making Kino feel sad, and under pressure.

Another theme I think I found within the book, is the theme of never giving up on anyone. Ever since "The Martian" on Mars got on Mars, his team on Earth thought he was dead. But once they saw movement, they tried as quickly as they could to save him by communicating to check up on him and making plans on how to save "The Martian" in several months, even though he stayed in Mars for a long time.

The change within two perspectives in this book unique. One perspective is on earth, trying to find a way to save the man on Mars. Another one is on Mark, trying to survive the dangers of Mars by trying to get communication again to get back to earth. A major theme in this book is the power of education. The man stuck on Mars uses his knowledge to make food and water, and repairing his rover if anything goes wrong.

This book, in my opinion, is a little bit similar to A Long Walk To Water, because of how Mark tries to survive in Mars with consuming minimal food and water, so he can live longer. This relates a little bit to Salva because he and his group also had eat as much as they can, so they can survive.

The theme I am thinking about right now in the book is about the good sides of education. In the book, the protagonist is only surviving, only because of his knowledge of survival, math, and science. Without the knowledge, I think the main character would be dead within the first week he was on Mars.

In the story, the martian tries to go to "Ares 4" to try to get communication to earth, so he can return home. He does this by reserving energy in his space buggy, by not using heaters. He also still tries to make food and water for survival, which is going ok, at the moment.

This book is about a martian crash landing into mars, all by himself. With all of the resources he has in his ship, he tries surviving the red dusty land by making food, and water, with his knowledge. Sometimes in the process of making food or water might go wrong in the ship, sometimes everything feels like home.

This book is actually closely related to ALWTW. In this book there are three stories, all in different times. All of these characters are trying to flee their homes. One of the characters are fleeing Syria because of war, just like Salva. These journey's are longer, but all of these characters are using some type of transportation.

Right now in the book, the protagonist is having a hard time following the rules in the, "receivers of memory," because he keeps forgetting the rules that he must follow.

So far of what I read in this book, I would this book to be slow paced and very boring. It look about 70 pages to finally get to the rising action part of the book.
Readers Response: (text-to-self) This reminds me of whenever my mom/dad tells me a stupid story of when I was young, just like how the giver in the story shows memories of Jonas when he was younger.
