I wish she weren’t so horny for this dude immediately upon seeing his humanoid form. That could have been at least interesting seeing her the transition from scared to softening to him to falling in love (where this is obviously going), but instead she’s told us from jump how hot he is, so there’s no tension.

The author keeps saying the characters are “gangly from hunger,” but I’ve never heard that word used in a starvation context before, just a still-growing teenage boy context.

I’m not into romance, I’m not a fantasy fan as a rule, and I REALLY don’t like fairies. But my sister Emily told her friend Emily that the two of us would read this, so here goes nothing, I guess.

I wish my elementary school library had this book in the series instead of just the Intergalactic Zoo one; I would have especially liked it in fifth grade.

Oh, this one is a comic book? The library just got this hold in yesterday, so I figured I’d read it before continuing with the Training Master one so I have an actual background. Library didn’t indicate this was a comic, so that’s a surprise, considering the other ones I’ve seen are actual books.

Never read a brand-new Goosebumps before. Very typical of the series so far. I like the cover a lot.

Not a fan of the writing, but this is short so I’ll see where it goes. And there are a number of things I can set aside for the sake of who cares, it’s fiction for kids: everyone knowing Nev uses they pronouns despite never telling anyone, an integrated boarding school during the Depression, whatever. But I don’t know if I can buy someone naming a baby Beckett in ~1920.

Can’t wait to hear what my Israeli friend has to say about this one—talk about topical.

Translating ha-Norzi as “of Nazareth” instead of “the Nazarene”—sure, who cares. But shortening Bar-Rabban’s name is just Bar is hilariously dumb. (Interestingly, the Penguin printed version makes that mistake, but whatever version the eBook is correctly uses Bar-Rabban every time.)

This book is way funnier than I expected it to be

In the print version I’m reading, the master describes his huge room as being 150 square feet. The ebook version I’m using while at work says the room is 14 meters long. That means for both to be correct, this room he’s describing must have dimensions of ~42x4 feet. One of these guys’ translations must be off, because of course that doesn’t make sense.
